Best review of this amp on KZbin. I have the same Mark V 90 watt going through a dual rectifier oversized cab. There is nothing that compares in my humble opinion. The amp used by some of my all time favorite musicians. Sounds sick! It can be tight or give you sag. It can be really wide, but still mid-heavy. Also, your demos are the best amp demos on KZbin imo. It’s awesome to hear a song in the beginning every time, cause you do it right so amp shines with it’s best.

I’ve had a Mark V 90W for a decade, but your enthusiasm and playing on this vid was so contagious that I had to play with it again for a few hours right after watching this clip! 😁 What a brutally awesome and freakingly versatile piece of art this amp is 🤘🏻 A cork-sniffer’s tip: For the very best-est tone for recording, hard bypass the fx loop with the switch on the back panel. Bypassing the loop circuit completely improves further the clarity and openness of the sound quite a bit, especially in high gain modes. And for recording you don’t really need the loop circuit functions for anything - especially when using a reactive load and IR’s . You’ll probably be adding the post-gain effects like delays in DAW anyway (just remember that bypassing the loop circuit bypasses the Output and Solo level controls as well, so if you’re plugged into a real cab, it will be LOUD with typical channel master settings…).

Egue, you are a treat to watch, not only are you a monster player, you can write, record, mix, master with ease. I really enjoy these amp reviews a lot. I just discovered your channel a few months ago. You popped up one day when I was looking at mods for my 85 JCM 800 4103 combo, I learned to lift the extra capacitor on the mid-pot to make it sound like a regular 2203. Euge nice demonstration! the Mark IV and Mark V amplifiers are just amazing. I have come to appreciate how flexible and useful that are as amplifiers. They take some more time to understand but they are very powerful gain and tone shifters and playing thru Greenbacks really gets those amps into Marshall territory. Remember the pre amp gain knob really acts like a tone control....set below 9'Oclock the sound is thinner, set between 9 and 1 the tone is less thin and has more meat to its bones, set above 1 or 2 the tone darkens and is thicker with more compression. Also the Midrange knob acts as a gain boost above 12 o'clock. Also the Bass knob (and the others) is before the preamp section so if you are in a hi gain mode typically lower the Bass as to avoid flub and muddiness. and as we all know shape that tone you got at the end with the (post pre amp section) parametric EQ.

Absolutely the BEST, I mean BEST presentation of this amp. I've had mine for a while and watched many, many videos on some ideas/direction for sounds, however, many of those videos give a good direction, but Euge, my Mark V has come alive! Euge, I am editing my comment because I felt I wasn't really acknowledging your excitement about the Mark 5. I have always been a Mesa Boogie fan and I was an owner of the original Mark 2C+. I know you make the 5 sound absolutely awesome. And I know it's one of the best amps out there. I just like the sound of my Marshall better. I would like to hear your Boogie and JCM800 together as stereo. I bet that would sound way awesome.

With 34’s in it, I did a recording with the Edge setting on CH 2 that sounds easily as good and just like a ‘78 2203 I used to have. Also CH1 on a clean setting does an awesome hard rock sound if you max the gain, get the CH volume at about 2 O’Clock, set the treble fairly high, mids around 10-12 O’Clock and bass to just before it flubs. Also get the presence up a bit. Set the Overall Master volume to around 10-11 O’Clock and it’s just hard rock greatness. An Attenuator is a must to get everything out of this amp.

I can add some important info here. The kind of sounds heard here need a traditional style cabinet if you're going to use a cab. In my experience playing this amp for an hour, you need a Mesa traditional cab with specs closer to a Marshall 1960 cab to get the mids to ring like they do here. I was able to get a lot of great sounds from one of these amps, but not at first because I was playing it through a regular deep back rectifier cabinet that is better for scooped mids style metal. . Once I switched to the traditional cab (that I think was also called a rectifier cab), the amp sounded great. In my experience THAT is what you need if you want to get the types of sounds that you hear in this video from an actual 4 x 12 speaker cab.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but try out hard bypassing the loop. It also bypasses the master volume for the whole amp so you'll have to set each volume to taste but in my opinion it sets this beast free. Really aggressive

Great video man. As other's said best Mark V video out there. It also doesn't hurt to have an 800/plexi kicking around for some A/B but I think its critical in understanding some of what the Mark V can do. Just bought one of these used 2 days ago for $1,400. It was built in 2012 and its an absolute time capsule, and 1/3 the price of new. Totally worth it.

Euge has the tone in his hands! He has active fingers! With the exception, this is one of the only video on the Internet where he makes this amp sound incredible. Everybody else has the wrong EQ, it’s muddy, flabby or ear piercing on the highs. Euge is the man! I must’ve watched this video 10 times! Thank you Euge for all your videos!

I have the Mark IV and V. I actually dial the V to the best approximation of a Rectifier on Extreme mode with an overdrive in front. Then I use the IV when I want the Mark sound. I surprisingly didn’t like the 2C+ mode at all, and the IV mode doesn’t sound much like the actual IV to me, it’s much more modern sounding. The Crunch mode is the hidden gem on this amp, but it does everything pretty well

Yeah the crunch mode is awesome. But I do like the CII+ & IV a lot too. Well…I actually like all modes and the whole amp a lot 😎.

For my home studio i plan to have some great amps. I love amps. I love to play multiple amps together. I plan to try to find a Mark III, but after this demo, to have kind of a JTM45, kind of a plexi and kind of a JCM800, without exactly being it, i think i have to save money for a Mark V. Thanks, as always, for your great videos.

Yeah it’s kinda like a Swiss Army knife of amps. The third channel is for heavier tones and the other two does anything else and the second channel does heavier tones too 💪. And the third channel actually does lots of things too when you back up the gain 😎.

I had a similar Boogie journey. I started with a Mark 5:35, but felt limited by the 2 channels (wanted clean, and crunch, and Mark II/IV). Switched the 35 watter for a full Mark V, and it's fantastic. Like having 9 amps in one. Try the Extreme mode on lower/bluesy gain, it's pretty good.

I just got the MK 5 head…again! Partly thanks to this video Euge. I had one 9 years ago but didn’t spend enough time with the manual. But this time I did and along with this review I was able to get all the tones I needed straight away. Gigged it after just 2 days and it was awesome! Highly recommend this Boogie for guitarists that like more than one basic sound. A classic amp for sure.

Excellent. A thought on the Mark I for punk rock. Being a Clash fan since '77, i looked into getting Mick Jones' sound on their 2nd & 3rd albums - he always used a LP & Mark I, diode rectifier with graphic EQ on a straight upwards diagonal and put it through Marshall 4 by 12s, to get what is pretty close to a MKII sound before Mark II was made (MKII removed the enormous lower fundamental extension of the Mark I). Gain 6 to 8 Treb~7 Mid5 Bass2 Pres ~7. Master vol about 5
