ANM, GNM, and B.Sc Nursing are all nursing programs but they differ in terms of their duration, level of education, and scope of practice. Here are the differences between ANM, GNM, and B.Sc Nursing:
1. ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery): It is a diploma course in nursing that focuses on providing basic healthcare to patients. ANM is a two-year course and the minimum eligibility criteria for this course is 10+2 or equivalent examination. ANMs are trained to provide care for patients in various settings like community healthcare, hospitals, and nursing homes. They assist doctors in basic procedures, give injections, dress wounds, and provide maternal and child healthcare services.
2. GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): It is also a diploma course in nursing, but it is a more advanced course compared to ANM. The course duration is 3 years, and the minimum eligibility criteria are 10+2 with English and Science subjects. GNM nurses are trained in various aspects of patient care such as medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, and pediatric nursing. They can work as staff nurses, nursing supervisors, and ward in-charges.
3. B.Sc Nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing): It is a degree course in nursing that focuses on providing advanced knowledge and skills in patient care. The course duration is four years, and the minimum eligibility criteria are 10+2 with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
