awesome man thank you for covering this topic! i’ve done a bit more digging and will most likely go with some light mountaineer boots like the aequilibriums + BD contact crampons. i dont plan on doing much technical mountaineering but for the kts it aligns with the pricing for the BD which i think is a better option for me. it might be overkill on some of the trails i plan to do but i just fear the kts not be sufficient at some point in certain situations. i do have the k10 crampons as of now and will buy my winter setup for next season soon! thanks again for the information and video

Yeah those KTS's have a limit for sure. I should have mentioned coming down from Mt Adams with them was a but sketchy, not overly dangerous but true crampons would have been better. Best of luck getting everything set up the way you want it, have fun out there!

Every time I look up hiking crampons, I am shown micro spikes. Can you drop a link to something that you recommend?

try these out - kahtoola.com/shop/hiking-crampons/ These are the hiking crampons (KTS Hiking Crampon) I used to go up Mt Adams in Washington, anything more serious and you'll need mountaineering boots and mountaineering crampons which I've never used before.
