We would love to have such a store over there. Mind you, with current situations I don't know if we will ever be allowed to leave our country again. The world seems to have gone a bit crazy! @@SILKYsaw Sugawaza 420 with XL teeth...and a gomboy 300 medium teeth straight blade because its supposed to be the "ultimate bushcraft" saw...figured I'd better get it hah. I have a zubat 240, but while cutting a branch hit a nail and goofed up some of the teeth =-/ (eventually i''ll get a replacement blade) The only thing I didn't like about it, was it was just a hair too short for larger logs. I do a lot of winter camping and its nice to have a good fire. So I figured i'd try out the Sugawaza 420,. =)

as a lady from nebraska usa i would like to thank y'all for the best video on silky saws evah! y'all are the only ones who said what the damn slide guard is for! i thought it was to protect the hands from branches....due to the fact they were pull saws. silly men. i have two silkies: the big boy 2000 (yellow) & the katana boy 500. i will need to email y'all to ask if it's best to have different saws for different woods and how to change the blades on them. (if i want to carry just one saw but, need different blades on them.) alot of us hikers and campers use silkies for our wood processing needs and carrying alot of saws just doesn't work well in our kit. subbed.
@SILKYsaw
@SILKYsaw 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks so much for your comment! You are welcome to email us. Ideally you have different saws for different uses. In your situation, you could carry a medium tooth blade for your bigboy. This would be useful for your smaller cuts or you could get one of the very compact saws the pocket boy for smaller branches. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onrYh5WYfbuefqs. Using saws with large teeth like to two you have are awesome for large branches, but will jump and vibrate around on smaller ones and very dry dead one, making it easier to cut yourself and will cause the blade to go dull faster. We hope this helps, Nita and Shenae 😃

Hello young Silkies...Thank you for your videos and info. I just bought my first Silky, an Ultra Accel, and tested it on trees 🌳 in my yard. Yes, it’s badass! My primary need/uses for saws are for making firewood while backpacking/camping/day hiking, and also to clear downed trees from the trail as I ride my mountain bike. So, for me, it’s never about a clean cut or protecting a tree, it’s only about cutting through the wood as quickly as possible, while carrying the smallest size and weight that’ll get the job done. Ironically, I spoke with the Silky distributor for North America and was surprised at how little they knew. I don’t want to hurt their feelings, and maybe I spoke with the wrong person, but the representative did not really know the difference between models, nor their intended purpose. So, I hate to “use” you fine, young Aussies, but... I’d like to know the following: 1) What purpose do the various types of teeth serve? (ie making smooth wood after the cut, cutting green wood, dry wood, hard wood, quick cuts, etc???) 2) What is the reason for straight blade vs curved 3) What is the purpose of the two locking positions of the blade? 4) A brief tutorial on blade maintenance and care (I see it here⬆️, but it was very brief and deserves a video dedicated to it) If this info already exists, I’ll be grateful if you can provide a link. You seem to be the best source of info (because I can’t speak or read Japanese) and so I’m very grateful for your help. And so sorry for your petrol baths; you seem to have recovered completely:-)

Hi Bruce, we are sorry to hear that you didn't the info you needed. Happily though, we have made videos on all your questions, so hopefully they help. 1. I think this video explains teeth the best. kzbin.info/www/bejne/emqvlXp7jKZloKs also this one talks about set or non set teeth kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn-maH6io7NrmZI 2. This video talks about straight verses curved kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHbVdHewm8mAiLs and this one is one of our first, so a bit cringe but dedicated to this subject. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6iTaH-AZamCf5I 3. This one mentions the two locking positions kzbin.info/www/bejne/onrYh5WYfbuefqs 4. This one explains how to clean and use your saw properly kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5m5epVrpqtlfpI We hope this info helps, 😃 Nita and Shenae

such lovely and smiling ladies. it is rather hard to focus on the begining of the video but i manage eventually. :) thank you for the explanations as i am looking for a garden/forest saw and it's hard to make a choice since there are so many models and sizes. i can't order from you as i'm from Europe, otherwise i would have been convinced to buy. also it seems that in europe there is a big premium to pay.

Hi hhcosminnet, thanks for your comment! These saws are up there in price, but they are so worth it. When making your choice, just remember that curved blades are designed for angled work, whereas if you are mostly working in front of your body go for a straight blade. 😀

I actually have the sugowaza and I can agree. I use it when I don't want to get my superb Makita 2*18v DUC353z out. Especially in areas where it just feels to dangerous to use the chainsaw like overhead or especially inside smaller trees where branches are everywhere and you like to cut the branches first. I'm no professional arborist so I am special cautious especially after a broken and squashed finger in a table saw accident. I use my gumboy 210 curved for pruning small fruit trees if it gets to big the Sugowaza. And the guard looks just cooler and protects the saw to slip down the scabbard when it is used a lot. I saw a video where this was a problem after years of heavy usage and not for 30 cuts a year like in my case.
