It’s technically the air 3. But doesn’t go by that. The iPad Air was discontinued after the Air 2, but made a comeback with a redesign last year simply called “iPad Air”.

Hello! I’m a college student that is looking for an iPad to take notes on, primarily. I don’t really play games or edit photos. I’m torn between the Air 64 GB and 7th gen 128GB because of the memory space. As a student, do you think the 64 GB would be enough storage to last for as many years as possible? (I’m a sophomore hoping to go to grad school, so not buying a new iPad after a few years would be great!) Another reason I’m torn is due to the student promotion Apple usually runs in July. Only the Air is eligible, and it is a good deal to get new beats. I’m not sure what I want, haha!

I would say that for notes, performance wise you won’t see much difference! So the 7th gen would be fine. Especially not caring about games. And I personally have the 64 GB Air. It has been fine, and notes themselves don’t take up much space. But the upgrade in storage would’ve been worth it for all my photos and games. I think based off what you’ve said, that the 64 GB Air is the best option for you. Specifically because the 7th gen has an older chip, and will likely lose software support before the Air! But I think they both will last 2 years easily.

Hello, I would recommend buying the iPad Air simply because it will last you longer. The Air has the same chip the XS has and the iPad has the chip the 7 has (which is a huge difference in time). It is more likely that the air will continue to succeed after 2 years rather than the iPad just basing on the chip inside. Most colleges offer 1 Terabyte of storage so check if your school has that option (mines uses Mircosoft) if they do then 64gb should be fine and save your notes and school stuff on your school cloud. Lastly, the July sale does include the Air and not the iPad like you said. But if you don't need them (beats), you can sell them and possibly get some money back, saving some money on the Air. Good luck with school and whichever one you pick I am sure you will succeed.

What about artists? I don't plan on doing much of anything with my iPad except for using art/animation apps. Maybe to use KZbin or Netflix once in a while, but mostly to draw. Which one will be better?

I'm a university student so.... should I buy the 2017 pro or Air 3 ? + I never used an apple device so if there's any iOS updates will the 2017 pro be included? (I chose pro 2017 and air 3 because the 10.5 screen and I like the pro motion on pro 2017 , I watched many reviews about both of them and they are pretty identical + I'm buying an ipad for taking notes )

This comes down to a case of "you get what you pay for". Both seem more than adequate and a big improvement for me (coming from 9.7 4th Generation). But since I can afford it, I'm going for the air. Thank God both still have home button and headphone jack. Thank you Apple!!!

You really will be great with both. If you had to choose strictly on that, the laminated screen okay the iPad Air would win, because it has less glare. But the regular iPad is no slouch.

In terms of Surfing/Browsing the web and gaming the iPad 7th Generation is just fine but if you are more productive or editing some stuff i would highly recommend the iPad Air 3

Performance wise, big difference between the iPad Air 2 from 2014 and the iPad 8th gen from 2020.
