i find it funny that everyone complains about their professors. They have to teach the idea and why it works. Most KZbin videos have great examples that cement the ideas in our head. I like both my professors and the examples provided by KZbin content providers. Thanks for all the work you provide @The organic Chemistry Tutor.

I know this was posted awhile ago, but I haven't taken a math class in 25 years. I'm going back to college and they have me in an College Algebra and Trig math class. If I had just graduated high school, I'd probably have a better idea of what they are talking about but I didn't so I don't. When they explain things, they skip steps because they think I know what I'm doing. So, thank you thank you for posting these videos. They are a tremendous amount of help!!

I want to thank you for demonstrating how easy it is to use this equation. I used videos, my calculus book, and teacher's notes to no avail. THIS was the only logical video that broke it down simply, you are amazing!!

I am currently in my junior year of highschool and I decided it would be a good idea to skip precalc and dive straight into college algebra. Good thing these vids taught me the stuff I missed from precalc.

MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for showing How to use the Difference Quotient in Precalculus. The algebraic skills are very helpful in Precalculus and beyond. All levels of mathematics use Algebra.

thank you SO MUCH for this. I am struggling with precalc, and what with covid being a thing it is harder to find good math resources. You simplified it enough that I caught on after just 2 minutes, where in class I was sitting there for a good hour and a half not knowing what the hell was happening.

Keep in mind he is solving the difference quotient. This is easy child's play. He is NOT finding the limit of the difference quotient as h approaches zero. That is the hard part because instructors create all kinds of fiction to justify that division by zero=h.

@5:50 Why multiply by the conjugate? Aren't we meant to keep the root signs away from the denominator?

Only take the root out of the denominator at the end. He didn't do so but you can take that extra step. If you don't use the conjugate, things get pretty tough. Once you use the conjugate it simplifies things nicely and you can simply the root to the numerator at the end.

@@JohnJigsaw420 I like that the conjugate was used BUT what happened to -f(x) in the difference quotient? He foiled ( root x+h minus root x) (root x+h plus root x) then I didnt see how -f(x) was incorporated.. does the conjugate eliminate it?
