i have been riding trikes for over twenty years here in the u.k.and love it,my two rides are triumph rocket 3 and a honda valkyrie f6c both built by myself from damaged bikes,trike riding is so much fun but you have to man up straight away ,a lot of my bike riding mates have had a go on the trikes and have come back crying like babies saying its hard work ,on a trial ride one even got off and turned the trike around manually and road it back down the road,he's never going to forget that one ,we just won't let him ,there's so much fun to be had on three wheels yes in the bends as well,just go for it,i am missing my right leg above knee and my right arm is severley damaged so dont let things like that get in your way ,age dont matter either 70 next tme around,just stick at it and in a couple of days it will become second nature,feel free on three.

I just got my trike about three weeks ago. I found going into curves you let off the throttle and about the middle of the curve you throttle on and found myself leaning into the curve which seemed natural. You are right, it is harder to ride or takes more effort to operate.

Congrats on your new ride! Wishing you many miles of smiles on it. Took me a long time to accept it...but once I did I realized it was a ton of fun! Yes, it is like that on a 2 wheeler too...brake before entering the curve, and accelerate thru the curve. Trail-braking works also, which surprised me, but it is particularly good at keeping the rear tires planted. Yep, steering takes more effort, most everything else is the same or less effort.

Great video once again guys! I working towards a Tri Glide as my first bike. I’m physically capable of holding up a two wheel bike but I like the stability and safety of a 3-wheeled. Plus, my wife said absolutely “no” to two wheels 😂

Very great information in these videos!!!! I have ridden the old volkswagon style trikes in the 90's, motorcycles most of my life, and my wife has acquired a tri-glide this year. I now ride a honda valkyrie rune trike in the UK. At 70 years young and recovering from serious RTA I can no longer hold up or manually push a large motorcycle. Great fun riding trikes but you have to think a different way.

The stage 2 torque cam kit in my 2020 TriGlide Ultra made it come alive! I love it!! I traded my 2010 in on this one. I’ve learned to use the rear brake much more than the front brake, the linked brakes make it much more stable.

Yep, that is one of the first things I realized...unlike a 2 wheeler, the rear brakes are primary on the TG.

I bought my first one in 2022. It still is a love/hate relationship. If you're not careful I feel you could catapult your passenger passenger right off in a defensive maneuver. I miss the curves. But it does have many positives.

@@DKCustomProducts as you well know to much throttle and speed makes it difficult to hold the lane I will usually back off the power going into the turn allowing the Trike to settle and then roll on the throttle to pull out of the turn , that’s what I was referring to and do when the wife is riding with me , I don’t like to feel like I am fighting with the Trike in a turn

I have been riding since the 70's from the Shovel out of a basket to the now one year old Tri Glide. It is a different ride for sure. More like moving from a car to a truck. My 114 will haul the mail. All the power you will ever need even packed down for a trip with my wife on the back. I am going to put a new suspension on it for sure. Too stiff. Will get the lift kit installed along with the new Legend shocks. Later maybe the front Legand setup. Stock in the mountains sucks. When you are on the sharp curves in the hills, you will get a workout turning the Trike.

Kevin the 131 Stage 4 is a fun ride , the real fun starts at 3500 RPM and gets better all the way to 6000 RPM so far I couldn’t be happier with the exception of fuel economy the best I have seen is 39 MPG on my 2019 CVO Street Glide , my 117 would get 45 MPG , my Tri-Glide is 35 to 37 MPG with a Stage 2 Torque cam with the H-D Tuner

Love this, i ride a bike but wanting to go to a trike, I’m going to take everything you said into consideration, I’m sure I’m going to scare the shit outta my self a couple times but hopefully it will be a learning experience and not a bad one, lol I think my most concern is tipping over,.. I have a trike and the big difference between that and two wheels is that you could go down roads you wouldn’t even think of going down on two wheels. Gravel, dirt roads, loose soil are no big problem

Backwheel trikes typically oversteer where forward trikes understeer by design. All trikes are fairly stable the forward conversion are built around steering, handling and stability so they are superior however all trikes are safe as all cars are inherently safe.

A Stage 1 will cure the heating problem on a Trike. The factory emissions produces way too much heat and needs to be removed. I had a Stage 1 installed on my Trike and it significantly made a difference. I strongly recommend installing a Stage 1.

If anyone is having trouble kicking over a 2 wheel because of age or bad joints, whatever, a trike is even worse. First thing I put on was the 3rd step kit I personally feel Harley should have put that on from the factory, at least have an option for it. I think you guys did a great thing on that and it makes all the difference in the world getting on and off. In our state you actually have to get a 3 wheel endorsement to "legally" ride one. Great job

But the stigma about the sportster is based on ignorance, the sportster is an iconic motorcycle with a ton of history, and that's also how it looks like, it is precisely what people picture when they think about a classic motorcycle.

We do not have any experience with the kits that leave the rear 2 wheel bike tire on the ground and add the 2 outrigger tires. I've ridden one, but it was only around a rally at low speeds. Cannot tell you how it would handle or the stability of it (rear tire lifting). Regarding safety, it's going to stay upright, no need to put the feet down or be concerned about low siding. Three years ago I had a failed knee replacement surgery, right knee cannot bend anymore so I had my two wheel heritage modified to run on front brake reservoir had two banjo connectors installed on the front brake reservoir and I’ll rest my right leg on the highway peg . Can a trike be modified in a similar manner with one lever, controlling front and back brake? And would it be safe?

Man, that is a bad deal on the knee. Glad you found a way to stay in the wind! A proportioning valve can probably be used on the newer Trikes. Not sure how/who can do the software mods that would be needed, but there may be someone out there that could. Or, you can go to an older Harley Trike, before the RDRS and ABS, then it is just a mechanical job, as you have done previously. Will it be as safe as having different controls for front and rear brakes? No. Would I do it if it was what had to be done to stay in the wind? Yes. Of course, I would adjust my riding accordingly. Yeah, until my accident, which resulted in me not being able to hold up a loaded bagger, I did not think much about Trikes, and had much the same pre-conceptions as Dwayne. Can't say I am happy about "Having" to look at a Trike, but can say I am super happy to be riding one. While they are different, they are a TON OF FUN! Can't tell you the 1/4 mile time. Can tell you that on launch, the biggest thing will be keeping the front wheel down. Rode with a guy that had a 131 in his Tri Glide, and that thing was an absolute beast...just rolling on the throttle in 1st-3rd and up came the front wheel!

@@talkingrock7011 There are some Harley Dealerships that are putting the SE131 kit in Tri Glides. They fit, they just are not covered by the OEM warranty. I rode with a guy that had one. Insane amount of power. He offered to let me ride it, I declined. Did not want to catch the sickness that a friend of mine caught after he rode it. My friend, now, cannot think of anything else other than upgrading his TG.

@@DKCustomProducts I don’t have a clue how they are pulling this off changing from the wet head to air cooled and are they also dumping the ECU that controls the cooling system and are they installing a oil cooler instead of the coolant pump plus the coolant lines that connects to the heads , and one last thing the H-D tuner will only support a stage 2 cam swap there has to be a after market tuner involved , ok one more thing suppose they reuse the wet head that would eliminate the complete stage 4 setup , believe me I have asked about a Stage 4 for our Tri-Glide I have the Stage 4 on my CVO Street Glide it’s a hoot to ride , ride safe

@@talkingrock7011 This is the info I have from they guy with a 2019 Tri Glide with the 131 that I rode with. 2019 SE8-462 Power Vision They used 131 H-D parts, not the kit. The cam choice and use of stock throttle body with stage IV heads was based the way I ride and the elevation I ride at. Going for torque and throttle response, not peak HP. I am VERY happy w my Dealer and the build. It was loaded w a tune from the same build on a bike they did previously as they don’t have a Trike dyno. I have almost 7k on the build done Jan 2021. Question, I'm looking at a 22 Freewheeler, 1, is that more dangerous because the weight is less of a Tri-Glide 2, I plan to get shocks front & rear and a lift 3, there's a few S curves at 50mph, is the speed limit/a few over absolutely fine?

Congrats on you upcoming new ride! I would not say that a Freewheeler is more dangerous than a Tri Glide. It is a bit more nimble because of the slightly lower weight, and because you don't have the fairing on the front forks. As with any bike, once you get to know it, you will feel where the limits are. Sometimes posted speeds are quite close to the safest top speed for the curve. Far more often they are quite a bit lower than one (with some experience) can go thru them. I generally go 10-25 mph faster than the curve suggestion sign. HOWEVER, if it is a curve I don't know, or one I can't see thru, I will generally go close to the posted sign. I do this because every now and then there is a curve that will catch me by surprise because the posted speed is pretty much as fast as I am comfortable at. WOW!!! I rode harley trikes for a few years and they are not even close to being worth the money you spend on them. If they were free they would still be way to expensive. If you want a trike, Great! Never Ever go with a Harley. They do not track well unless you remove the tracking arm that is located between the fork and the frame. Harley will tell you that you do not need to lean (BS) if you do not lean into the inside that tire WILL try to come off the ground and if it does you can not stop the train wreck. As for the 114 engine prepare for a total rebuild every 35 to 40 thousand miles as that engine has a top end lubrication issue that will result in metal flaking in the oil at around 30 to 34 thousand miles. If you want the best trike on the market try out the Indian Roadmaster with the Motor trike conversion. While there is a loss of fuel Mileage ( 30 to 35 mpg) They ride better, handle way better and handle more weight and cargo, and they do not need that cursed tracking bar that stiffens the steering to to point that it steers like broken dodge pickup. And finally if you do not lean into the towns, even though the trike does not lean, prepare for that afore mentioned train wreck will leave the ground and the faster the run is taken the further you must lean.

Everybody has their opinion. Some state their opinion as if it is fact. My opinion is that the Harley Trikes are worth the money. I find my Tri Glide capable of riding faster that I want to ride....and I do not ride slow, but I also do not race. Here is a video of us riding the Dragon, 2 up and loaded with all gear for a multi-week trip. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYakfn5_n55qfZI Have seen plenty of 114's still in great running condition after 40K miles...they have had cooling mods done to them...but that would not seem to have an effect on the "top end lubrication issue" you wrote about. Not sure what you mean about tracking...yep, stock suspension is not great, but that is easily remedied. For daily riding there is no need to lean, and the wheel will not come off the ground in typical riding. Of course, with aggressive riding, the more body weight you shift to the inside, the better the inside rear tire will stay on the ground. Of course, with the newer models the traction control will cut power the second that inside tire loses traction (IF you have Not turned the traction control off) and when it cuts power, that wheel will plop back down on the road surface...UNLESS you have gone into the corner far too hot. Your enthusiasm for an Indian and Motor Trike Conversion is obvious. Glad you are happy with your ride. 👍

BEWARE! I had a Motor Trike kit installed by Bob Bowman Superior Trikes, Florence, SC. They knowingly delivered my trike to me with numerous issues and 2 dangerous issues = did not torque down handle bars and they almost came off while riding and reverse battery was wrong size and installed incorrectly which melted the terminals. If Superior Trikes didn't know all of the 12 issues prior to delivery then they shouldn't be doing any installations at all! I have pictures, videos, text msgs, tel nbrs, email addresses etc. for anyone to see. Motor Trike corporate (President Jeffrey Vey) told me I had to have the very dealer that did the shit installation repair the issues or warranty would be void. Is that legal?

We have no experience with that company...but if that is what you bought, and that is their policy, seems like it is sort of a bad deal, but only thing you might do is ask them to help you out some. I would also read their warranty paperwork to see if that is what they are legally entitled to require of you.

@@DKCustomProducts they never gave me a warranty and using the original install dealer was requiring me take my trike to him then go back to pick it up equalling 10+ hours of drive time to correct issues that never should have been in the first place. This is just to make people aware.

The can, but not nearly as easy as it is to high-side or low-side a 2 wheeler. You have to be riding much faster than conditions warrant. Here are a couple of videos showing how stable they are. Oh yeah, it is fun. It is amazing how stable the HD Trikes are. I do have the Convertible Comfort Lift™ and the 14" Trike Series Shocks™ which make it ride a bit flatter, and much more smoothly. But even stock, while bumpy, they are very stable. 👍😎👍

Thanks for the comment. There are lots of low mileage Harley's of all types for sale. I would think the bigger reason is how hot it can be in Arizona. A properly set up Tri Glide is a much more relaxed ride than a 2 wheeler. There is more steering input needed, but so much easier/more relaxed in every other aspect. The thing most folks miss is the leaning. But they are their own kind of fun.

Tricycle's are for kids or old men that can't stand up. Rides nothing like a motorcycle except for when it rains you get wet just like a real motorcycle.

Yeah, hydroplaning is no fun, You should always slow down in heavy rain, even if the road is draining well, there can always be "those" spots. One thing I would do is get the PSI in the rear tires down to the 20-21 level if you have not already done so.
