As a brass player forever, I've been steadfast in my position that the best Tuba anyone could ever play is a Silver King Sousaphone. Smooth sound, easier than most tubas to get a great sound, and just overall a beautiful horn. The Elitists disagree and make fun, but what do they know.

In the marine band they have to use concert instruments they are playing sousa band literature.

military bands just use concert instruments. You will notice they use regular concert euphoniums as well. In Europe they even march double reeds, but in the US it's rare.

How odd, in Spanish we call the sousaphone a tuba. I even looked it up to make sure. If a tuba is not a sousaphone, than I'm confused even more by this video. I thought I was going to see and hear both, but I guess not.

Basically, a sousaphone is a special type of tuba

A disadvantage with the sousaphone compared to a regular tuba, is that the tone is less accurate and the sound stops immediately when you stop blowing. Therefore a regular tuba is preferred when you are having a concert or any other occasion when you do not have to move while playing the tuba. I always use a regular tuba E flat or B flat, even when marching.

They sound the exact same but the Sousa projects better and is easier to carry

It's easier to blast on Tuba.With Sousaphone you have to force more air.The Sousaphone sounds rounder.

Would have been an interesting video if you had actual playing of them by themselves instead of still pics and talking. As if anyone can pick out the Sousaphone among all the other instruments playing in the Marine band. Sorry, a big thumbs down.
