Very good video showing the differences between FD mount lenses. I have a bunch of them. Thanks.

One more annoying thing i've found about FD lenses is, if you're using extension tube for macro. It's really easy to twist the extension tube ring when you're trying to get the right aperture.

I have the SSC & the nFD. The Nfd is sharper & has better color & contrast. The nFD is actually an impressive lens being from 1981

As far as I recall there are also an even older version of the FD lenses that has no spring apperture. So you have manual stop down the aperture when pressing the shutter.

Those are "FL" lenses! Technically a different lens mount, although the lenses can be mounted and used on FD cameras in stop-down mode, like you said. Before that, even, they had the Canonflex cameras and their "R" mount! It has the same physical dimensions but different internal pins and springs, so it won't work properly on newer cameras. But they brought that breech-lock along for the ride for quite a while! Thanks for watching! - Connor

@@Kamerastore - thank - "FL-lenses" I had forgot they had a different name.

If I had a dollar for every time someone couldn't get the rear cap off their breech mount FD lens I'd be wealthy. When I simply twisted the breech ring and the cap popped off they were amazed. They were rotating the cap, not the breech ring.

That’s only happens when the person has absolutely no idea what they are doing.

i have a set of the breech lock, 24, 35, 50, 55, 85, 100 and a terrible copy of the 135 and a great 35-105 f4. i chose to never mod them i dont want to strip the screws. Some friends have in the past so im like nope. but i use them on rf adapter for r5 and komodo which was 25$ and got 2 for when we do 2 camera interviews, and 2sony adapters for alsp 25$ the only large costs was when i spent 400$ simmods alexs mini adapter which turned out amazing a movie we shot. love the lenese wish they didnt tripple in price after having them a year id love to get another clean 35mm f2 copy that isnt 450$

Does somebody know if the very early chrome lenses have single or multi coatings? I have 35mm f2. It is quite a nice lens but it has a bit of yellow tint on it. Actually I don't even mind it since it works well with 500t film in daylight.😅😅😅
@Kamerastore10 ай бұрын
Some have single, some have multi! It's the same SC and SSC system, just not marked on the lens. The 35mm f2 should be multi-coated. Thanks for watching! - Connor

The silver ring should turn back on its own with spring tension, yes. That being said, many lenses today require a bit of assistance to lock in fully. The spring gets them about halfway and then the user twists it the rest of the way. Hope that helps! - Connor

Some people like the build quality of the older leneses but on the other hand they're older leneses with all problems that come with age

I prefer the older FD lens mounting, I find the nFD to be overly complex, and more susceptible to jamming, use FD lenses daily and have tone for 35 years
