Fiber optic cable (goo.gl/P4ijjH) includes single mode fiber (goo.gl/XPRTL5) and multimode fiber (goo.gl/x2Zhn9). Multimode fiber cables are divided into OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5. What’s their difference? OM1 and OM2 are designed to support 1G and 10G network. A link of a 1000BASE-SX SFP over an OM2 fiber can reach up to 550 meters. OM3 and OM4 are designed to support 40G and 100G. OM4 cable with a QSFP 40G SR4 or a QSFP28 100G SR4, distances will be 150m and 100m.
