Nice couple and presentation. Most of these various "whats Canada like" tutorials seem to originate from Eastern Canada, either Toronto, Ottawa etc.. The viewers should know that Canada in terms of Land mass is the 2nd largest Country on Earth traversing several time zones, so life varies depending on where you live. Life in Toronto is much different than most other Canadian cities. Ottawa is a beautiful city. So is Vancouver on the west coast. People interested in moving to Canada should familiarize themselves with the whole country before automatically moving to Toronto, which is the most expensive place to live in the country. 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

Hmm, as an American who has lived in Canada for 30 years here's the differences: Canadians aren't assholes and are actually polite and humble. Even at an "event" they're quiet. No one is shooting someone so our kids are safe at their schools and people aren't clamoring for guns and we don't miss them. People are patriotic but don't chant: "Canada, Canada, Canada," like idiots in the states who scream "USA, USA, USA." Some people are religious but don't act like assholes about it. We pay taxes that contribute to a national health care system (Americans think that's socialism, even if it was, so what) and no one here knows what a co pay is, a deductible or a preexisting condition. It's a prosperous nation and very high quality. There.

As far as the value of the dollar is concerned, there were many times in the past when the canadian dollar was at par or higher than American money. political pressure and economic decisions reduced the Canadian dollar due to the US desire to keep the American dollar as the "gold standard" for the globe. in reality. the Canadian dollar, as well as some norwegian currencies are actually stronger. the Global market is manipulated by those with american ties to keep american currency strong. in fact. without this manipulation, the american dollar would collapse due to corruption and over consumption. there is a little more to this, but that's the jist. Racism exists here too, but races are much more tolerated over all here. Most Canadians live with diversity as a normal course of living, but there are always exceptions. As far as housing goes, you can not judge a country by its cities. Cities are almost a different diaspora in themselves. cities are basically the same in development. they are different than the outlying towns and villages. You basically hit the nail on the head though! good comparison!

The "Trono" pronunciation is a variation on the old Torontonian accent pronunciation of "T'rana". Most Ontarians pronounce it something like that. Toronto used to have a distinct accent different from the rest of Ontario that was a little reminiscent of the Bronx accent. It faded away as the population boomed in the late 20th century and is nearly extinct (you can still hear some older folks who have it - my uncle does - but many have moved out to the burbs). I don't think anyone under 60 is likely to have the old Torontonian accent now. Torontonians today just have a Canadian Standard accent like most other urban residents between Vancouver and Ottawa. They were still calling it T'rana back when I lived there in the late '90s. Dunno if that has changed.

I live in the UK. For many of us here in the UK, there US and Canadian accent sounds the same. I can't tell the difference Any comments? Does anyone agree?
@CharJules3 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris. Thanks for the comment. Well in some cases if we are speaking proper English you may not be able to tell the difference. But when it comes to just regular conversation and depending on the cities they are from and the slang that’s used we can sound very different. In the northern part of the U.S. i find that they sound Canadian the closer to the border they are like Minnesota. The further south you go in the U.S. we start to sound very different. I’ll put it like this, and this is Jules typing. I speak in my true accent off camera and when I talking to my friends back home. When I talk to Char i speak less with my accent (so I’m told). But when I’m in Canada having regular conversation they can tell I’m not from there. People just stare at me sometimes when they overhear me talking lol. It’s funny. Hope this answers your question lol.

A very big thanks to both of you for enlighting me about the differences between the Canadian and US accents. Like you rightly said, the differences between both accent will become more obvious as one goes further into the Canadian/US regional communities. We in UK have a similar situation, although in this case, visitors to the UK think we all sound the same with the Queen's English Accent, which is definitely not the case case, as there are various regional access. Thanks you both once again for your information.

Water ice is like a snow cone but way more flavorful. Google “Rita’s Water Ice”. It’s definitely a Philly thing.

Your video just popped up. I do go to Manhattan, well before covid 19 hit, we're I have lady friend. Your comparisons between countries are cute, and some truth to it, and we'll intention. I'll explain some real discrepancies, and difference. We do know, and use the both temperature scales fahrenheit/celsius, as well as measurements Your comparisons are not of equal comparison's or accuracy. Comparing prices, NYC is not cheap, or servings are no different in sizes. In some u.s. cities/ cost are less. But then your minimum wage can be as low, lower than 6.00 hr. Were in Canada it is 12.50 hr or highe. Your girl does not want to get seriously, or slightly I'll in USA for thet fact. Your private medical industry can/ will bankrupt a person, even if they got the optional blue cross, an American medical insurance company that is disreputable. In Canada we don't have this problems of these extreme medical costs to hospitals, doctors, insurance companies. That alone in Canada brings our restaurant/.37 on a dollar meaningless. But the huge difference in culture is overwhelming. We did not build our country of the backs of slavery, to get to what we are. We did not start wars with our neighboring countries as the u.s. has through its history, and to this day. Just a couple of differences, I can go on, but will spare you. Also, I just watched your Storytime,/ pandemic. Sorry to hear the unfortunate situation. It's for safety, after all you are coming from a country that is #1 in the world with the most infected and deaths. In these situations some corporations are given Powers that some of there workers can, and will abuse for there own ego. In many cases dealing with authority, the less said the better. Or just answer to the specific questions, never elaborate. They don't want stories. They go by the book, not peoples felllings. In other words tell them what the want to hear, no more. If you were crossing the border to stay for fourteen days, and something came up that you had to return before 14 days, can you not make the decision to go back early. If you see my point. Not sure if this helps in some way. There are families on both sides of the border that have people, children, parents, siblings dieng and could not see them. If you could afford a private Lear jet, you could come to a smaller airport, like the wealthy corporation owners do. Have you thought of driving, you only have border services to deal with, it eliminates lots of people to deal with. I have driven many times to NYC in winter, and I'm very much older than you, But I am white, if you get my drift. I refuse to go through airports. It takes longer in the over all scheme of things, if you figure out your time/cost get there and back from airports. Put your bags in the car and you have two stops, border and doorstep. Pick a simple crossing area Oswego NY. or Thousand islands crossing, there not out of the way from Pennsylvania, but maybe Pittsburgh. Don't get there late hotels,/ motels could be very minimal if any. Oswego does have motels. For me it was plenty of time driving in day light, 6 hours . There are trains to Montreal, or Toronto, all are not as complicated as airports. Just some ideas. If you say your coming for 14 days and have a place to quarantine ,then for some reason you have an important reason to head back. In your own vehicle you are in quarantine in a sense. Just some ideas. Hope things can be worked out 🇨🇦

@@CharJules My mother left us a long time ago but she (I believe) was one smart cookie: She always told us to look at the persons eyes and it will give you all the information you need. The older one gets the more the eyes talk. Skin on the other hand only gets wrinkly with age so there's nothing to learn from that ! Love you and please be safe ! Oh, remember to be very wary of the dreadful (but tasty) poutine !
