Cool video Jean Berg gave me a set of o 41s Back in 1984 Learn how to port cylinder heads with this set of heads had them on a 1776 and it would run 13 .0 In a full bodied street car it did have a close box transmission but it was my daily driver works for scooter at R and S performance in Orlando he was friends with Jean so I had a lot of help with a cylinder heads but they were The stock valve size Jean mentioned that they use them on tanks never thought they had tanks with a Volkswagen motor but I never doubted anything the man told me LOL the other combustion chamber you show was a semi hemi chamber Jean made the cutter for that also just found your channel looking forward to more videos

I need too. This channel was demolition derby related. But those don't exist here anymore. Clyde Berg raced a 1776. It eventually ran 12's !

Semi hemi might be good for all out performance but it is removing quench; not good on pump gas. I relied on minimal tolerance deck height and high quench for over 10:1 CR on a 2L I built years ago. Worked quite well.

Your video has been helpful. I've been trying to figure out what my baja came with.

Glad I can help. My purpose on KZbin is just getting the right info out there. As opposed to spiffy edited videos. Lol.

Do you have a video explaining the different engine blocks?

I will try in the future. But those are getting rare.

Cool video. Rebuilding a ‘66 1300. Balancing the bottom end but only want to put dual ports on top. Will a 1600 dp fit the 77mm cylinders? Thanks
@ReverseGear4 жыл бұрын
You know I don't know a 100 percent correct answer to give you. The case size is the same 1300/1600. But the head side is not. You can bore 1300 heads to fit 1600 cylinders. But I can't say if dual port heads will seal. They'll fit. But not sure if they will seal. Sorry for not having the definite answer.

i have done this and it can work but it will run horribly and you may have interference between the cylinders and the valves. the dp heads really aren't designed to work with pistons less than 83mm.

I had a Euro 1300 dual port. And when they switched over to 85.5 pistons. It did get hot if driven over 60 mph. So I do know that is true. I tried shims. To drop the compression. No change. The thing that would of worked. Would be to semi hemi cut the heads. But that's the opposite of what he wanted to do. So I didn't know. Thanks for sharing.

in 85 BV Autolinea heads were 37.50$ in San Antonio . But Big V would buy 500 at a time?

1300 has.larger 33 mm intakes some 40 h p have smaller exaust valves the others maybe 30 mm where 1300 has 31 mm and 15 and 1600 has 32 mm exaust. Small differences but dont mis match sizes. I know i went from mismatched 40 h.p. to 1300 and bought new valves for the 1300 heads

Which one is better for stability of the car and power?
@ReverseGear3 жыл бұрын
That is a difficult question. It's been a great debate for years. Some say the single port ones are great for torque. And some say the dual port heads are better for cooling. But at the same time. Late model dual port engines. Have doghouse engine coolers. Which makes the biggest deal. I have never had a single port engine in any of my cars. So I don't have experience driving one. I like the ease of repair of the dual port engines. As for reliability? They are pretty much the same.
