Little disappointed that "Historic Premillenialism" wasn't elaborated on, as it appears to be the oldest end times view out there (albeit, not currently held to widely). Conversely, there are adherents of that view would see a some kind of distinction of the church and Israel.

Hey Mike. I thought your explanation of the Amil position was way off. Maybe it was the idealist part that that made it weird. Lol. I don’t know anyone who believes what you just explained. Voddie Baucham and Kim Riddlebarger have great teachings on this. Also, Sam storms book “Kingdom Come” is a great book on the Amil position. I’m not even sure on my eschatology because I have questions with all of them. I do believe that the Amil position makes some very valid points and should be better understood. Chuck Missler would say that all the time. In fact he would say that Luke, in Acts 17:11, would tell you not to trust anything anyone says but search the scriptures daily to see if what you hear is so. He would also say that if you just excepted what he said without doing your homework you failed. His studies are also very fascinating.

What helped me was to realize that the Church Age aka Gospel Era aka "1,000" Year Reign aka "Millennial" Reign are all the same thing. "1,000" doesn't mean exactly "1,000" like when God says He owns the cattle on a "thousand" hills... in Psalm 50. I used to be confused on that 1/4 and 1/3 of the earth has yet to be destroyed, then I found out that the Greek word is ge that most Bibles translate as earth. When i hear earth, i think global earth, but if God meant global earth He would of used kosmos. Ge actually means soil, land, ground earth NOT global earth. So now I see that the 1/4 and 1/3 referred to the land of Israel not global earth. So that all did happen in 70AD. Also, I finally realized that satan is a spiritual being. he can't be locked up in Alcatraz etc. his heart is locked up in the chains of sin and death. We as humans are spiritual in our hearts. So satan is locked up right now and before we heard the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ we were locked up with him in the chains of sin and death, the Gospel Message makes us free!!! Hallelujah!!! The First Resurrection happened with Jesus in Matthew 27:52-54. If you get a chance look up Bruce Gore on You Tube. I also have several videos on Revelation on my channel, just search keith elrod.

@John Eldred that used to bother me how the Bible calls Jesus the Lion of Judah and it refers to satan as a lion. Then I studied the lions and how they live in a group called a pride. Sooner or later a young male tries to take over. he is beaten by the Lion and kicked out and then he roams hungry and desperate. So I know God's Word is perfect. Whenever I find possible contradictions, when I dig in, I am sooooo blessed.

The Amil position isn’t speaking of a literal binding, it’s a figurative one and only for one specific purpose. God has limited or bound Satan for one purpose only, and that is he can’t stop the gospel from being spread throughout the nations. Those who hold the Amil position don’t actually believe that Satan is literally bound in chains and can’t cause any trouble throughout the Earth . We know that things on Earth are progressively getting worse and we’re in the end times. When Satan is loosed we believe that God no longer limits Satan and all the nations turn against the church/Christians.

HISTORICIST VIEW CLARIFIED In summary, the historicist view sees events unfolding throughout the course of history. This view does not change based upon the different time periods in which it is employed, such as by having new layers built on top of it every hundred years (or so), as was supposed by mike. History does not change and for the same reason neither does the historicst view. This view looks at the Bible’s description of certain prophetic events and looks at history for matching events which correspond to the biblical description. Then by using the same methods of interpretation, this view deciphers future events that have not unfolded in history at present, but will; It incorporates preterism when appropriate and futurism when appropriate. Sometimes the historical events have already unfolded (preterism) and sometimes the historical events are still future (futurism). This is the most solid and consistent view of biblical eschatology and has been for hundreds of years. Daniels statue and four beasts represented 4 kingdoms spanning from Babylon to Rome divided. The little horn of Daniel 7 does things that the composite beast in revelation 13 does showing that these are the same powers in different symbols. Only one institution in history does what the little horn and composite beast do. The papacy. If the papacy is the beast, what’s its Mark? That’s the next logical question. Let’s ask them: “"Sunday is our mark of authority… The catholic Church is above the bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact." Catholic Record. September 1, 1923 This was the most prominent view and remained so until the 19th century when other views that came out of the counter reformation became popular and mixed with other erroneous ideas. Preterism and Futurism came from two Jesuit priests Alcasar and Francisco Ribera. The Jesuit’s, founded in 1534 by the Spanish noble Ignatius Loyola and officially recognized in 1540 by the pope five years before the council of Trent, were organized as part of the counter reformation whose sole aim was to counter the claims and arguments of the Protestant reformers. This was done by many means: torture, espionage, propaganda, infiltration, etc. These views whose origins come from the same people whom the Protestants Called Antichrist, were then mixed together with Darby’s new dispensationalist ideas in the 1800-1900 hundreds and later they were incorporated into the Scofield reference Bible. Next they were presented in popular novels and movies like the left behind series. The world has forgotten their history. The reformers were right and the seat of popery is Antichrist. Isn’t it just fascinating how the world now subscribes to their eschatological views which just so happens to put the Antichrist either in the past or future? Seems like if they wanted to take the heat off of themselves they did a good Job. I’m a Protest-ant. That means i protest. But what? The same beast power that the Bible calls the whore of Babylon and who sits in the temple (Christian church) of God showing himself that he is God (the vicar of Christ). The woman was clothed with purple and scarlet (cardinals and bishops) and sits on seven hills (Vatican is conveniently placed between seven hills called the seven hills of Rome). The reformers were right. But the world has forgotten their history. If you don’t know who the beast is how can you prepare for the Mark of the beast or even determine what it could be? Putting the entirety of end time events wholly in the past or future is to become complacent because the sense of urgency to be diligent stewards and students of Gods word becomes less urgent. God has a specific message to go throughout the whole world: “Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth-to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people- saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” ( cf., Ex. 20:8-11) And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:6-12

Hi Mike! Faithful amillenialist from Sydney, where amillenialism is the predominant protestant view by a large margin (probs around 80%). Though I enjoyed learning a better defence and explanation of pre-mil and post-mil than I have heard before, I think that there is one strong lay argument for amillenialism that you neglected: the argument from uncertainty. We do not want to form eschatological doctrine that will either unnecessarily divide or distract the local church. This is perhaps also why amillenialism has such a diversity of belief within it, for it gives a general framework all Christians can assent to (e.g. the spiritual reign of Christ inaugurated by his salvific work as seen in Rev 5) whilst giving room to individual interpretation of particular events or prophetic parallels.

Biblical theology holds the End times displays events in three sections of the same event. Therefore, Pre-Millenium, Post-Trib, Pre-Wrath is the accurate eschatological doctrine. There is partial preterist view although dispensationalism is a false teaching. Satan has a final stand against God at the end of the millenium, as well. That is the only difference. There is a dispensation of Covenants which allow all those from differing regions to come to knowledge of Christ. All men will hear and allowing all mankind to accept the offer of Salvation. Apologia studios is a false teaching platform, with false teachers giving their philosophy. Amillenialism is false, pan-millenialism is false.

@@abashedsanctimony154 you might be right, your view sounds very reasonable. I was confused for awhile when I rejected dispensationalism as a valid hermeneutic because I connected it with a futurist view of eschatology. So I really appreciate the distinction being made. However, I’m hesitant to hold any view too tightly when it comes to secondary issues. It keeps me humble.

@@Hillbillywayfarer That's great to hear. Some teachers will be so convincing as if they are correct in their hermeneutics and philosophy, believing only the Holy Spirit will know. (futurist theology is actually a spirit of deception, so I understand). The counter to the deception, is to make another lie, which is Pre-Trib dual raptures or amillenialism (no rapture). Amos 9:2 is a good verse to study in detail, because every person was tested before their death biblically. Many have been taught a lie (but they also believed) by those who also teach they will be rewarded for simply teaching/receiving the Scriptures'. It's not true. Only God decides who is saved. Most who have taught Pre-Trib, are seminary trained, but not actual Scholars, (because the Greek LXX isn't correct.) Scholars and Jewish believers know that Pre-Trib is as false as the news telling you their stories are true, and of course many believe the news. Remember God doesn't see any person with respect as to their place on judgement day. The only distinction is if we have Christ's name on our forehead. (We have all played part in the crucifixion of Christ (Roman 3:23 all have sinned, all have put Christ to death) Take humble martyrs throughout history, Daniel, Hananiah the furnace and the lion's den weren't walks in the park. Nor were Roman martyrdoms.

As I've gone through my life and different sufferings, I grew in my relationship with Christ because I could look at not only His suffering and overcoming, but all the apostles suffering. There is joy, learning, and hope in all suffering. As I continue to learn this, I've moved closer to a post tribulation rapture, because we are told that sufferings will happen but Christ will comfort us and give us strength to persevere through anything on this earth.

I totally respect that you encourage people not to just hold to your view! In my Christian walk, I have on occasions changed my view as the Lord sanctifies me and reveals to me His truth. I listen and consider many views and I have sometimes gone in the total wrong direction! But the Lord my God through faith and my conviction for truth and nothing but truth has always by His grace brought me back from deception and shown me truth! That truth is based on His word! Not man’s interpretation of it, but the conviction of the Holy Spirit in me that allows and brings me back to His word! He has and does allow us to go wrong and I have many times and even big time when I became a JW! But ultimately, once the lesson is learned, He brings us right back to His word! The authority! So it’s better to live your life, read the Bible, study it, and live. We don’t have to know everything, nor should. It was great to hear you talk about this topic. I was brought up pre-mill, pre-trib but I became amillenialist after reading Martin Lloyd Jones and hearing my pastor speak on Revelation. But, my amill understanding about Revelation is a little different from what you describe. I believe much of Revelation is a series of parallel stories/accounts giving different perspectives on the same period/s of time. I believe the stories do describe what will/is taking place but from different vantage points. The 1000 year reign is understood in the same way as when Jesus said that the kingdom of God had arrived: present but not all pervasive. I hope this helps.

@Phil Jones you read it wrong, JESUS is the Kingdom arrived and ascended to prepare a place for HIS bride. It's the "time of the Gentiles be fulfilled" we're living in now, almost over; Lk. 24. Thank you, Mike and team. This has been helpful, and food for thought. I have got to work out where the heck I stand now. One thing is obvious...we cannot be too dogmatic about these things. I have had a pastor tell me that the church has replaced Israel, which is just like any other nation now, not special. OT prophecies were fulfilled at the establishment of the church, and the promises are all about the church. If this is so, why is God literally fulfilling all the prophecies about the regathering of Israel now, after nearly 2000 years? Seems to me that He is doing more than one thing here. He can multitask. And He keeps His promises to Israel as well as to Christians.

Old video but just came across this. I left Dispensationalism several years ago and now subscribe to a reformed view of theology. Yeah, I know; one of those Calvinistic Christians. That said, I have studied to some degree all these major eschatological views and still not sure what to believe. I do thank you for the clear and humble summary of these views. Well done.

I really appreciate this video. I don’t particularly have any opinion on this issue (nor do I think this is a particularly necessary issue to have an opinion on) cause I am poorly educated on it but I’d love to learn more about it. But it can be hard to find vids explaining all the different views in a reasonable and measured manner.

You wrote, "I don’t particularly have any opinion on this issue (nor do I think this is a particularly necessary issue to have an opinion on)" Food for thought: 25 to 30% of scripture is eschatological in nature. That being said, God keeps His word, to tell us what He is going to do. To the world it is a proclamation of Himself, to the believer He gives understanding of HImself (Jeremiah 9:23-24). Maranatha!

@@williamredfield6006 I think it’s important to value it and try and understand it because as you said, revelation is on way God shows himself to us, but what I’m saying I don’t have an opinion on is how or when currently unfulfilled or debated unfulfilled prophecy and I don’t think it’s necessary on many prophecies especially when in much of eschatology, Jesus has openly said, we will *know* when we see it fulfilled.I am content in waiting on The Lord and being prepared for him by not trying to pinpoint what every single revelation might point to when the end times arrive.

@@williamredfield6006 I don’t see a pre-trib rapture in scripture, which makes it a bit difficult to “prove” something that is not. There are numerous verses that refer to the church being gathered “at the last trumpet” which I feel contradicts scripture if you argue that that the 7 trumpets happen after the rapture. There are also numerous times we are encouraged to “endure to the end”. To me, one of the most convincing arguments against the pre-trib timeline is found in I Thess 5:1-5, which argues against Christians being taken as a “thief in the night” specifically verses 4-5. 2 Thess 2:3 also tells us “THAT day will not come unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed (the Antichrist)”. I Thess 4:16 also speaks of his coming with cries and a trumpet, which is not in agreement with a secret rapture. I further believe that the harvest in Revelation 14 (starting in verse 14) is the gathering of the Saints, just as taught in the parable of the wheat and Tares. This is far from exhaustive, but I hope represents some of the scripture I hold to. I also think that The Rapture Debate with Joe Schimmel on Good Fight Ministries offers a good answer to pre-trib thought (not that I’m brushing you off to someone else as a defense, it’s just not feasible to have an entire debate in a comment section. Lol) If you have any scripture that definitely identifies a pre-trib timeline I would be happy to discuss.

@@williamredfield6006 a further thought, Jesus told us we would be subjected to Tribulation, as does Peter. We are told we are not appointed to “wrath”, which is appointed at the very end on unbelievers and an eternity in hell. God’s wrath for OUR sins was poured out on Christ on the cross, this is not the same as tribulation.

Good presentation Mike! Back when I was in College [before time began in the early 1970's] I had a good professor [John Yates who actually wrote a book on Revelation] at Messiah College that gave the 3 [then] major views on Revelation, post, pre and A. He let us defend anyone on the test and would never tell us which he held. Pretty good teaching! I never really picked one but I was sorta torn between Post and Pre, though I didn't like the dispensational ideas. Over the years with much Bible reading, seminary, etc. I eventually came to an already/not yet view on my own. I also came to realize that a major thrust of Revelation is to give us a powerful view of who Jesus is and how he is in charge of history. Then a few years ago I found out it was actually a thing, what you label progressive. It is really the only one that makes the most sense of the data. I do think that in the end, everyone one will be at least somewhat surprised, just as Jesus' first coming had surprises.

I have a few questions if anyone cares to jump in: 1) Is the Book of Revelation literal? 2) Is Revelation 4:1 the Rapture of the church? 3) Are the "Cosmic Disturbances" in Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:12-13 the same event? 4) Is Joel 2:28-32 a future event yet to take place? God bless you all.

Unless the book of revelation is being nonliteral (which there is plenty) then no, but what is direct, like the building of the temple, the plague like things (the stars falling and stuff like that) and the organization of the book, then it is meant to be taken literally. Those things haven't happened yet, so its in the future. The tribulation is a literal seven years, and the millennial kingdom is a literal 1000 year reign. much of the Bible points to a pre tribulation rapture. The church disappears just as the tribulation begins, and then is never mentioned in Revalation until Christ returns. here are a few points for pre trip rapture The rapture: The 2nd coming: Could happen at any moment Happens at the end of the tribulation (time is known) No reference to Satan. Satan bound He comes in the air. He comes to the earth He comes for His own. He comes with His own He claims His bride. he comes with His bride Only His own see Him. Every eye will see Him Great Tribulation begins. Millennium begins Church Believers only. OT saints They are described as separate events. Also look at the Jewish Galilean wedding that Jesus constantly compared us to for His disciples. It EXACTLY matches the pre tribulation rapture. Jesus used that example. I suggest everyone look into it fully. the Bible says Jesus could come at any moment, no one knows the day or the hour (just like the Jewish wedding), so It can't be anything other than a pretrib rapture. Also, Jesus said to look for HIM, to find comfort in knowing that HE could come at any moment for us, post trip rapture Is looking for the antichrist, for the mark of the beast, for the seven years before the rapture, they are not looking for Jesus, nor do they believe that he could come at any moment. They also do not fin any comfort in that view, it is a view of fear. I know people who hold this view, they think everything is coming to a terrible end for us and that we will be hiding from the antichrist waiting for the seven years to end (which is not Biblical, because then we know the time). I simply can;' hold that view. Plus the rapture is for the Jews, not us. God is "unpausing" His contract with the Jews during that time, when the Church is already done with its mission. Post tip rapture believes those promises to Israel have been thrown out, that Go transferred them to the Church, which is basically heresy if you look into it. There are many other details I could list for a another few paragraphs, but I'm going to stop here.
