I loved you reacted to this duet they did, it needs more attention since it's such a pretty song❤ You should have reacted to their live performance at Dream Concert 2023 As a Junsu fan I can tell the song was supposed to be sang in a "sweeter" way because Junsu does sound more like in the sweeter side than he usually does (he is sweet vocally speaking, but he always puts more of a strong sound to it, idk how to explain it), but my guess is that is the reason Jaejoong might be struggling a little bit more maybe, but the both of them sound more "delicate" than they actual are in their own songs Edit: Here is the link so you can watch, it even has subs of their interaction kzbin.info/www/bejne/goHafGqMhd6qe6csi=XLE1hX0um4CQ0FAw Interaction pre performance: 21:23 Actual performance: 26:44

i think i agree with some of the other commenters that jaejoong started singing in a voice that was a little too high for him during his tvxq days (for some reason i think during their japanese promotions), and i guess it became a signature for him then. now with age his voice got deeper than before, so he can't really sing with that same tone comfortably anymore. you can still hear his deeper grittier tone of singing during tvxq days though in songs like hey girl!, whatever they say, i believe, and his cover of "footsteps. i still think he sounded really good singing with a deeper rocker voice during the aaa awards 2023, and in during performances of run away, all that glitters, kiss b, etc.

About Jaejoong's voice, he has said in the past that the high clear voice that he is mostly known for in his TVXQ era and the one he uses in ballads is in fact not his most comfortable or "natural" one. He said he tended to gravitate towards a deeper or maybe even grittier tone of voice, as can be heard in his rock performances. He said that was far more comfortable for his voice. But it was the high clear voice that he developed that people wanted to hear and he kept singing like that for many years, with TVXQ, JYJ and in his solo career. As time has passed, it has become harder for him to continue to sing using that tone of voice and thus it has lost some of its power and resonance. With his voice naturally changing, it has become an effort to keep that clear voice while also trying to sound as powerful as before. Compare that to Junsu who is using his natural tone and therefore is not struggling. He is right in the middle of his comfort zone and is able to sound beautiful and give it that power he is known for. I would imagine that if this were a rock song, the situation would be reversed and it would feel like Jaejoong suddenly had a greater voice than Junsu. I feel both can out-sing the other depending on the genre, since their voices would naturally be more suitable for one genre over another. For example: in Raining Men, Jaejoong was singing the most comfortably because that song was more natural for him to sing, while even Changmin was struggling a little. And Changmin can actually sing rock! And in the 2023 Dream Concert in Japan, both Jaejoong and Junsu had solo performances, after which they sang this song together. Watching Jaejoong sing a rock ballad and some j-rock songs and then "Sixth Magnitude Star" with Junsu, it is obvious that Jaejoong is not longer singing this song in his natural tone. In a solo ballad he tends to sound beautiful, (even if he has lost some power) but in a duet with Junsu he can't really match how comfortably Junsu is singing. yeah i noticed that his singing before tvxq started promotions in japan was deeper and grittier sounding in korea. you could hear that rock flair in his voice, and he showed it off in his solo song “maze” and through the “footsteps” cover even when he was still a part of tvxq. then he switched to a more rock deeper sound when he went solo. i agree with others that he probably tried to sound more like his older ot5 tvxq voice here on this duet to sound sweeter but it doesn’t come as naturally to him anymore

I can say that in my (my personal!) opinion, Jaejoong has had big problems with his voice in recent years. Although he didn’t say anything about it and no one advertised it. But if you listened to fancams from his concerts/show (after about 2021 or something), his voice sounds bad. And the backtracks were played loudly too, although Jaejoong doesn’t usually use such things. Even on his latest album you can hear that there is something wrong with his voice. In my opinion, it was really difficult for him to sing. It was as if he didn't have enough strength and he just couldn't cope with it. Then his voice began to improve and return to its normal and strong state. Now (at the moment), it already sounds much, much better and stronger. Almost the same as before. But in this collab with Junsu, his voice is still in bad condition. Although most of the fans usually pretend that everything is fine, but if you listen to him a lot, there is a difference. Jaejoong himself also said that he lost his voice several times (stress and colds), although I cannot determine the exact moments (except for one time and a long time ago). He also broke a rib, but continued to sing. Perhaps all this could affect him in the long run. I was actually very afraid that he wouldn’t be able to get his voice back, but thank God he could. But I still feel like he's still recovering. And in this song (and in general at that time) he really sounds quite tense, if I may say so. I think you have a point there and I'm too hear some unsteadiness in Jae's voice these years, on the other hand he was absolutely flawless singing live "Melody" in duet with original singer, he sounds good at his Japanese concert, mostly, but had problems in Korean concerts, in my humble opinion, again. I was pleasantly surprised how perfect he sounded at his Australian concerts this year, "For you" was almost as perfect as at Thanksgiving at Tokyo Dome, so I hope he overcame the possible struggles 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I agree, Jaejoong's voice has changed and even though I never want to admit it, it's worse than before. But fortunately Jaejoong did not give up, his voice improved day by day. I went to his fancon this year and was blown away by his voice. I think I fell in love with him all over again after that day 🥰🥰🥰

For his performance in Australia a month ago, he received compliments from viewers who were not his fans. Among them, there were those who came to the concert by accident. That’s what I’ve been notice for too long alr. In 2022 I went to his concert for the first time but it wasn’t his sound I expected. But his voice is better now recently as I focus

@@irene8939 He actually sounded good at times. I think songs like "for you" suit his voice well. How can I say this, a more comfortable tone for him? But in some songs you could really feel how heavy his voice was. It really felt like it was a “floating” problem. On different days and times over these past years. For better and for worse. In any case, I'm glad that it seems to have solved most of the problems now. At the last performances he actually sounded very good. Which makes me very happy.
