In this tutorial, I will show you the different kinds of light texture in blender. Most people will not think there is any texture in light. and it is obviously not. However, in photography, photographers often modify the light to achieve a better quality of the light and use scrim and light modifiers to photography reflective subjects or surfaces.
Understanding different kinds of light texture in Blender is going to help you make a better choice of lighting in 3D. Based on the different surface quality of your products, we need to use different kinds of light.
This is an ongoing studio lighting video series, which means improving your understanding of using studio lights in Blender or even in a real photoshoot.

Thanks, very interesting! But what I still don't understand is the difference between gradient lights and area lights with spread regarding light gradients?

Beautiful video! One question, do you get the same effect as a gradient light, if you put an area light, and in front of that area light, you put a plane with a translucent shader?

Thanks for this video. I just finished creating several light textures in photoshop as I was struggling a lot to get gradients to work properly in lights. Can I ask you what addon are you using to visualize image thumbnails on top of each node in the shader editor? That seems incredibly useful! Thank you and best regards

Hi, have you ever used HDR Light studio? Do you think it's a good option to learn? By the way, your content is great, thanks for share!

I only use HDRI as a general fill or ambient light, all the key light need to be controlled by myself. HDRI is easy to use but lack of control

Is there a way to apply this to area light? I miss a spread parameter in this method.

interesting video tutorial on the explanation of the type of lights to be applied in the rendering. I am an Italian user of Blender besides the difficulty of understanding English, I do not find video tutorials of photography in my native language, which explains the photography sector connected with Blender software. not being a photography expert, I hear a lot of rumors and noises on the internet that the best photo shot is on a cloudy day. my request to you, always if you have the time, would be if you can make another video tutorial, with examples in creating or simulating through the light, a cloudy day on world of Blender for simple reason for the correct setting of the room and the rendering, thanks and get it. I do not ask you the courtesy to answer me, but if you can do another video tutorial.

thank you Erico, clouds are the great light diffusing material for sun, in cloudy day, the light source become bigger, any shadow will become softer than the shadow created by direct sunlight. please feel free to watch my other lighting tutorial, I belive they will give you a good understanding of why cloudy day is good for photo.Keep it in mind, there are some pretty strong color cast on cloudy day as well, you have to do some color grading for your images, so I am not a big fan for cloudy day for photography. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKqchGCtbtJgbsU&ab_channel=WenboZhao hope this helps

I am complete beginner in blender. Like 1 month user. When I am about to render my model, I struggle on how to set up light properly, specially on glossy surface. I cannot make them look glossy in the render view. Do you use among those four defaults light, like spot/point/sun/area? Or are you creating your own light, if ever there is a way to do it. Sorry for my ignorance as a beginner. And thanks so much
