My family has been in Louisiana since 1700, although I have a historical connection to the Cajun culture via ancestry I was born in Bastrop/raised in Monroe. I sound like a Yankee compared to Yall.

Y'all are both right! --> US calendars have Sunday as the first day of the week. This is derived from the Judeo-Christian ordering of days. For Jews, the Sabbath is the last day of the week, the day on which God "rested" after creation. This means that Sunday was the first day of creation, the first day of the week. Jesus, of course, was resurrected the day following the Sabbath, so on a Sunday, the First Day of a New Creation. --> In Europe, calendars have Monday as the first day of the week, as it starts the Work week. With Monday as the first day, that means Saturday and Sunday finish the week, making them the weekEND.
