Thanks VP. I have always been on the lookout for more of your podcasts/videos on your experiences. From my backtest data, some indicators work well on some pairs but fail miserably on difficult pair like EUR/USD. It was daunting and despair at first seeing the indicators that I thought were good got totally destroyed. However, overtime I found some indicators that are good on the easy pairs but still able to hold the ground against EUR/USD. I guess it just take time to find them. Man, it feel so good to look at the summary of backtest/confirmation data, the few indicators that shine across the board.

In Brazil, Forex is still a little bit of a taboo topic. Although it is not forbidden (many people think it is), it's not a regulated market, there are no brokers, and according to our securities market authority (CVM), it is forbidden for international brokers to try to capture Brazilian clients through advertisements. So, not many people actually know Forex (there is also the language barrier). Otherwise, your channel would be overloaded with love from Brazil for sure! Thank you, VP!

What I have started to do is track the performance of each of the 28 pairs for the last 12 months. When looking at a trade I check if the pair has a better than 60% success rate. If so I trade. If not I don't. Over time if an underperforming pair gets above the 60% threshold I will start trading it also. I'm hoping that as pair performance fluctuates I will stick with the best performing pairs without having to tune my system.

What I'm finding is that pairs are cyclic by nature, but those cycles are generally random in length and magnitude. I've found if I optimize my Expert Advisors (backtesting indicators) for a ten year period, it will hold up ok with those settings on that pair year-to-year, but those settings do not transfer between currency pairs. What I'm going to test next is whether "the next" trade after optimization produces wins consistently. That might be the way to go, so as to keep the algo current with the pair's cycles.

After testing hundreds of indicators you can tell almost right away if an Indy is gonna suck or not ..fine tuning settings is a recipe for disaster

I've noticed that too. At first I would spend 5 or more minutes on an indicator before I realized it was bad. Now after 30 seconds I'm like, nope, junk, next! My algo is complete-ish, but my volume indicator isn't the best, so I'm gonna keep looking for new and better ones.
