Trank you for this video! It is the first one of a Bernina 117 which explained to me why mine is looking so different to the other ones. I got it from my grandfather ( he worked on this Maschine his whole life) . So now I know he had the industrial version of the Bernina 117L . I had it long time just as decoration but brought it last year away to fix it. And I love sewing with it. But it is always difficult for me to adjust the top threat tenssion. Maybe if you once have an industrial version of the Bernina 117 L you can explain this in one of your videos I would be happy to learn how it will work the easy way😉 Best regards from Munich Sanne

Thank you for this! Inherited my grandmas 117 when she passed away. Very different to my moms modern bernina, and I have absolutely no clue what anything is for. This has helped me a bit :)

Smooth like a cat, strong as a tractor and solid as a mountain in the Swiss alps. That's the Bernina Class 117. I've got 2 of them. But both are the earlier version with needle position switch of the machine's backside (not above the zig-zag width regulator), bigger and spoked handwheel and without the ornamental stitch mechanism, but both with the FHS knee lever system. Imo the best (non industrial) sewing machine ever made.

I have this machine and really need to get it out. I don't have the embroidery buy I have a Singer 301 so not worried about that. I love this machine but it is so heavy.

Many thanks. So... my Bernina is not the 117. It does not have all those features. It's still beautiful, though.

Does this use a 'built-in" cam stack"??? I know that Singer had to purchase a "cam stack" patent from Bernina to create their "Automatic Slant-O-Matic " machines. legal issues ensued, because there were at least 4 companies involved with the creation of Singers machine. Ultimately, Brother ended up suing Singer, claiming they stole their "Pacesetter" design.. In reality, Singer did not "invent much", they bought patent rights from other companies. I am fairly certain that after WW2 they did develop the design for the "Slant" needle machine..( Or at least a company they hired did ).

It has one built in cam and of course you can make it look different by changing the stitch length and the needle position but it's just on stitch made by the one cam.
