completely agree on the inhalation hazard, it's solid advice from your MD, so yes there is a such thing as overapplication

If food grade DE is cheap, effective, and so non-toxic that it's edible (some people to mix it in a drink as some kind of cleanser) it's almost seems like dusting inside the walls before the drywall goes up should be a requirement during construction.

It only lasts 2 weeks... but Cimexa lasts 10 years and is even safer for humans (less lung damage).
@MarySpain19585 жыл бұрын
YOU cannot breath the D.E it causes respiratory issues. using in vegetable garden for pest control is safe - mixing sm. amounts in juice or water to drink to clean your intestinal track is safe also. BUT it is bad for your lungs. this why ppl are saying vacuum it up and shampoo or mop floors behind that. and clean up spills etc etc. i just cannot figure out how long do i put it down before i vacuum and shampoo the carpets. i would have to leave and take my pets somewhere too.

You don't need food grade DE to treat bedbugs. That's a falsity. Just buy the DE that is labeled for bedbugs and use it in conjunction with Crossfire pesticide.

The bed bugs I have found were not necessarily living in crevices or outlets, they were living on cloth such the tops of curtains or, adhered to my pine Ikea bed. If a BB must walk through the dust to die, logic tells me the dust must be placed on the wooden bed or curtains thus creating a barrier (that a bug must crawl through) between a bed bug next and the human host. As such, can/should dust placed on wooden bed frames or dusted curtains (as examples)? I've ordered dust that comes with a brush (like a large makeup brush) and seems to work perfectly well for applying dust to wood, walls, cloth or what have you. The dust readily adheres to those places.

Sleep tight, don't let the BED BUGS bite! If you live in a hotel or apartment, apply food grade diatomaceous earth in all the possible places where bed bugs can travel from your neighbors to your home: baseboards, wiring, plumbing connections, door, windows etc. (Leave this barricade of DE protection in place permanently) If you have bed bugs, gently spread a very thin dry coat of Food grade Diatomaceous earth ON YOUR BED. You can use a soft paint brush. Put a SANSBUG BUG TENT on top to sleep inside. Each night some of the hungry bed bugs will smell you and come for a drink of your blood. After walking across the powder, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO GET INSIDE THE TENT TO BITE YOU. Later the DE clinging to their bodies will dry out their exoskeletons. They will shrivel up and die. Sleep inside the tent at night for about a month, long enough for all the bed bugs to dry up, including the tiny nymphs that can hatch from EGGS several weeks after the adults are gone. They normally like to feed about every 5 days if they haven't been disturbed. All the bed bugs will eventually walk across the powder. THEY MUST HAVE BLOOD TO LIVE. You are the bait in this trap with your supply of blood which lures them onto the bed. The diatomaceous earth on the bed will get rid of all of them. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY WORK, just sleep inside the tent at night without getting any bed bug bites. If bed bugs are in the sofa or chairs, vacuum and then apply DE.

I have arthritis. I used the bulb for half a day and when I woke up the ne t day I couldn’t use my right hand - tendonitis from RSE (repetitive stress injury). One bottle of silica I bought came with a brush that looks like a make up brush women would use to apply blusher. Is this an effective way to put down silica? The silica seems to disappear as soon as the baseboard is touched. I can’t afford an electric duster and the bulb duster is not an option thanks to my age/arthritis

It seems to get into the air quite a bit. If you were to vacuum it up with a central vac, could it theoretically get into the air and stay there, since it’s so light and floats? Do you know if anyone has had ongoing health effects from its use?

Great informative video, from a well renowned individual, but some things are missing. Now that being said, you can tell mr white has never actually ran a route before. He sounds just like an entomologist from most companies, he also acts like an IMP technician. (No disrespect intended).I'll go into detail if the right questions are asked , thank you.

Mark Upton Why don't you just share you info instead of playing games?
@markupton18319 жыл бұрын
+Tom Rankin okay, in my opinion he basically gave a vid on dusting, but didn't mention the types of dust ,and how they rate, (Delta dust,Tempo 1%, Alpine dust etc ). He also fail to mention treating the carpet edges, which with any bedbug infestation a amount of the bedbugs will be found there. Also no info on treatment of mattresses or boxsprings, which is where 70-80% of the the bedbugs will be present. There should be a mention of permissible materials and their uses. (D-force,sterifab, CB-80,bedlam ). Also Temprid SC. And for the record Tempo 1% rated first, with Alpine dust and Delta dust showing similar results as far as mortality rate and percentage.

+Tom Rankin Also in some ,or most cases, a vacuum is used to remove the adults, nymphs, and eggs.

+Mark Upton the video was primarily created for the homeowner who's trying to complete DIY pest control and understand what I means to dust a crack....so yes, it is a vid on dusting, I'm also not a fan of rating dusts because I feel like most dusts that are created for pest control purposes will work fairly well if applied properly, in pest control it's more about how it's applied more than what is applied, also "rating" of dusts can change by study and colony it's performed on and the effectiveness of one particular dust can differ dramatically from infestation to infestation...as for the other comments you made I need to keep the videos to watchable lengths (I already get criticism for being too long winded) so I can't cover everything in one youtube video
