My male fantail guppy shifts colors, so sometimes he's pale with a clear tail, sometimes he's blue-gray with a greenish-blue tail. I think he is a metallic but I might be wrong.

one of my guppies is a female red lace and my other 2 are also female but they have a lighter coloring and a yellowish tint and there tail is a yellow to. Anyone know? Question: I see the red lace female has a black spot same with mine. I read the black spot means they are pregnant but that black spot has been on her for a long time, is it just to show that it is a red lace female?

I want to develop my own strains. The combinations and possibilities are endless. Within each cycle of babies there are some that show up with their own special pattern and increased colors. Those I try to choose. It is just endless fun.

Maybe your fish is sick. How long have you had him? What's your fish tank setup like do you have a filter and an air pump. Did you cycle your tank for a while so it can develop good bacteria. I'm new to the fish hobby industry but living in Taiwan I had to go to four different stores to figure out what my fish needed my fish died because he didn't have a filter or pump also he was not given medication when he entered my fish tank water many times fish have sickness at the pet store on you don't know. I think for my fish my crowntail died because I put him in too big of a tank and he was a baby and couldn't handle it probably also my tank was not acclimated with kids if you have good bacteria and it to fight off any illness he have. my guppies are doing fine because I cleaned out the old tank hot water then I put in freshwater put all the chemicals plus the good bacteria I let it run for a week with the filter on so it was ready to go but my other betta getting over an infection. it's probably not your fault depending on how long you had him probably he was already sick. my suggestion would be to take a look at him see if he see anything different about him besides losing his color then Google online go to the pet store and pick up medication talk to they work at and tell them that your fish is losing his color and you don't know why
