@grahamchapman9415 I agree, but it annoys me when we see the boys just stand there and watch him...

I'm with Terence on this one. Brian's role should primarily be 'answer guy' and 'excavator pilot'. It discomforts me to see men (at least) 25 years younger not be more proactive and save some wear and tear on the guy who founded the company. That said, I do think this is a good crew. I don't know the complete history of the company, but it would be nice to see like 3% more ambition from the younger fellows.

This started out as a very difficult job when ground water level was right the top of the tank. Piercing your thumb with a nail certainly added to the difficulty (you are tough)! Your solution to do a remediation along with the tank removal sounds like an excellent and cost-effective plan for the homeowner. Hopefully that high ground water level will not make the remediation more difficult than it looks to be.

i worked in a gas pipeline pumping station in Morristown, NJ. across from the airport it came up from ground i think it was 20 inch the pipe was crazy thick you probably wouldn't even scratch it with your backhoe, but it runs at crazy high 2000 psi pressure by the time it gets to Boston they are just about out of gas.

As you grow older you still can do the same things you did when you were younger, but it takes longer to do it and longer to recover from it. That's why whenever possible leave the more physical things to the younger people. I'm 65 and learned this lesson in the last few years. I'm from Wisconsin, have always had gas heat, as that's the most common way for this area to heat. But here I am watching the Tank Masters channel, that I found by chance, and now it's one of my favorites. Keep your eyes focused on the finish line, retirement. I'll be here before you know it.

Let's see if I got this right... House built in the 20s and maybe not with central heat, so added before WWII. (nice thick tank) In rural areas a permit might not have been needed back then. Original tank fails so they install one inside without a permit again. (1970s?) Was a permit needed then? The buried tank? Fagetaboutit! Fast forward to a gas conversion (sludge in the replacement tank?) then abandon it in place till they think about selling, or they need the space. 2024, this guy finally figures out he's been hoodwinked and has an issue in the ground, so calls those locator folks. I'm also thinking the previous owners knew something, but maybe not about the buried tank. Did I get that right?
