Seeing that big buck on the last day, potentially across a property line, definitely tests your integrity. Doing the right thing is definitely tough, but us ethical hunters will just enjoy the sight of him, hoping we cross paths again. Spent many hours in the woods just watching deer with a pew pew. It’s not always the harvest, just the peace & quiet, seeing what you wouldn’t have seen sitting on the couch! Great job Mike

Hey Mike. The new road is looking better every time I see it. How nice to be able to take your time, no rush, do a little when you feel like it, and stop, go do something else. This is definitely not work, but fun for you. That's how I'm seeing it. I'm truly envious. Every day, little by little, you're improving your property. It will bring back memories when you rent the bigger excavator. I remember your projects you did w rentals. There is so much to do w so little time, gotta stay busy, gotta hurry, the machine goes back tomorrow, and you have to go back to work tomorrow. I hoped you'd be able to retire early and danged if you didn't do it! Sure, I see the befits of renting a bigger excavator. Also, not punching a clock will give you more time in the rental. A couple years back, you were leaving the house, pointed out a neighbor's drive, and said, "You know you have it made when you have a heated driveway." Well, you still have a stoned driveway, but I honestly think you've got it made! Do what you can w the rental, when time's up, if you're not quite finished, you have your excavator and all the time you need! Same w the deer. You're not needing the meat. You hunt for sport and enjoyment. Maybe that buck will be back next year w two more points!! The main thing you accomplished very well! You gave us another great video to enjoy, and I sure did! Thank you, sir. Two more weeks till Christmas. See ya on your next post.👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

As others have said, you not only exhibited integrity, but you told us how you handled that situation so that it would serve as encouragement for the rest of us to always try keeping that in mind. My nephew, who made his millions in Christian music and has a nice 500 acre ranch (bought from Ross Perot about 20 years ago) in North Texas, wrote a book that he would give to young people as he traveled the country and gave mini-concerts to school audiences as he encouraged them about making wise choices. The title of the book was "Who Are You In The Dark?" -- and that's pretty explanatory about your exhibiting the integrity. Thanks, Mike, for the reminder of how to live our lives better.

Good use of an ice scraper! Have to hunt mine up if I get muddy. In one of my barns. Would be nice to have a dump truck to shorten the runs making a stack of top soil that would be nice to have. When I was installing equipment on the blue ridge area - the men in the small power company had a lathe and mill in the shops. They all hunted. Loved smokers. Normally they had .75 monsters to shoot. All custom. The big guy made a 1.00" gun and after the first shot he used a tree to back up the rifle. That was a monster gun, and the guys could take 2 at a time and go hunting. It was houses along the highway and a little more. Wonderful group of men and the two women in the office were hunters as well.

MIke, I am PROUD of you for doing the RIGHT THING! My nephew was bow hunting public ground yesterday and shot a buck. He was watching it laying down and waiting for it to expire. Suddenly a couple of guys showed up that were squirrel hunting! My nephew asked the guys if they would stay out of the area as he had a buck down and they agreed and walked in the opposite direction. To his dismay, the guys showed up again and spooked the buck out of its bed to which he went across the levee onto a private duck club. He called me and asked what to do since he knew that I was familiar with the area. I told him to contact the caretaker of the club and ask permission to look for his deer, but I also told him that the caretaker may say no since they had members duck hunting that day. No sooner did he hang up with me when a couple of the duck hunters ran up to where he was parked and wanted to know what he was doing there, and were quite agitated. He explained his situation, and the hunters calmed down. These hunters had come across his buck which was barely alive and they put him down. They they saw the "squirrel hunters" who showed up on their property and were told to leave immediately! The duck hunters thought the squirrel hunters had shot the deer, but that did not matter since they were also trespassing! The duck hunters assumed my nephew was part of this group of trespassers and were going to settle things! Mean while I contacted a friend of mine that was care taking on an adjoining duck club and told him what was going on and he then called the caretaker where my nephew was. Long story (ha) short, my nephew was allowed to get his deer, and everything was good all the way around! The point is this. My nephew did the RIGHT THING knowing that he may not be able to get his deer, but he did not want to trespass. And in asking he was granted permission. These clubs are surrounded by public ground and are constantly dealing with trespassers so I can understand their frustration. But right is right, and WRONG IS WRONG!

Nice looking buck. Our shotgun/muzzleloader season ended today in south west Ontario 🇨🇦 On Friday my son in law and I decided to pick our favourite spots and just sit for the day. Around 2pm a pair of large woodpeckers caught my eye. I got up and walked closer to see them. Watched the pair for a few minutes and then back to my seat. As I got back a nice buck bolted 15ft from where I had just stood. Straight to my son in law. Great shot

Mike ,I'm 69 ,not a great hunter. I have let more elk and deer go unharmed, because I love the sport and you know what I'm saying. I had 3 small f6 and f8 ford's for the job I needed them for. One day coming up a long hill and down to second gear on the tyranny. I was just about to grab 3dlow and a huge many point buck came across the road with no where to go but up. My 3030 was right beside me and the guy riding with me said shoot him. I look at that beautiful buck and said not today. I still feel like a million dollars. He lived another day and I felt great. Good call on the buck….longer he stays the more big ones you will have. Never heard ya mention hogs, so assume they aren’t an issue there. We have them tearing up things here in Texas and trying to control them. Had a bear sighting this year which is a first and thought one you had on camera at cabin was awesome. We do have cougars, fox and coyotes, but bear are rare. Our deer rifle season runs thru February on game managed property…we have to take 20 doe and 8 bucks which is tough to ensure mature does are culled. Majority of them are donated for families in need…last year was a zero take year due to drought.

Good call on that buck Mike. You passed the hunter ethics test and you would be welocme in my hunting camp.

Thank you Mike! I don’t miss a video but squeeze it in during some TV time when there isn’t a chance to comment. I miss all the Morganites commenting and interacting. Being retired is the hardest job I have ever had 😮.

Mike, Pete knew what you wanted, he said no and the good man are, you to know that by putting him on the spot he would have said yes against his wishes. You kept your neighbor happy, and that is better.

It never hurts to ask permission but if you don't ask don't expect someone to be overly generous and just offer their permission. But when you ask permission it's always best to give them the option by asking "can I or would you rather I not?" That way they know you're asking but you're also open to them rejecting your request so you're not putting them on the spot plus you're not creating any hard feelings. You might be told no the first time but a couple of years down the road and you find your self in a similar situation they might just say yes because they respect that you're doing the right thing. One of my good friends who builds custom Harleys knew of a local old timer that had an early 1900's Harley so he spent years cultivating a relationship with the guy and they would go out and look at the bike and talk about it. The guy knew my friend built custom bikes and serviced Harleys but one visit when he asked to look at the bike the guy told him he sold it for just a couple hundred dollars to a guy who had tracked it down through rumors. My friend was rather upset so he asked him why he sold the bike to someone other than him and the guy's reply was very simple "you never asked".

Mike, They don't call ole Mossy Horns the Timber Ghost for nothing. LOL Keep after them, your deer have learned you well. He knew he was where you would not pull the trigger. Now what ever happened to my suggestion of hanging a standby the house, or by your wood pile (equipment shed). Oh, the decisions we make on how to get outwitted by those Timber Ghost. Hang in there my friend. Patience is the key, and a little luck.

👏great, true sportsman. I think as a person who appreciates TECH, you should try a thermal drone for your hunting adventures 👍👍

Last night I stepped out onto our front porch which is the length of our house. I had the porch lights on and my building over to the side has a led light on it so one can see a little bit. I still had the gate open and then I heard leaves rustling and then I could barely see in front of me. Down the hill they came a whole heard of deer. The last one was a massive buck all coming down for some delicious corn. There are times when we step out and deer are either laying down or looking for acorns.

I ordered more fire starter this morning. I wanted the three bags for $33, but only the four pound bags came up, so that’s what i purchased. I use it in my Solo Stove lighting oak or cherry firewood and it does a great job as it just works.

Mike I have alway enjoyed watching you and Melissa live on Saturday evening here in Fresno California. The last live video I didn’t know that you were already almost done be the time I turned on my iPad. The three hour time difference caught me by surprise at 7:00am when I have my coffee. I up a 6:00-6:30AM jump in the shower and head to the kitchen for my coffee.
