Kaizo Blocks are a pretty complicated topic. It's easy to just slap kaizo blocks in a level over every pit, but when sparingly used or given certain contexts they can be really funny. The troll level scene is kinda built on unfairness, but with the understanding that the deaths are meant to be funny, like pranks or slapstick. In that way, I think unfairness has its place, but only if it's part of that contract as you say.

I agree with nuclear throne being unfair, but once you read the general lore, it kinda makes sense for it to be the way it is

My two favorite games Hotline Miami and Getting Over it in the SAME VIDEO BY JEUELY! It really is a Christmas miracle! P.S. play Hotline Miami 2

I have! I loved that game too; just didn't record any footage for it while making this video it's weird, but I sorta liked the ability to choose masks in the original. Tho the level design on the sequel for Hotline Miami def fit the abilities of the mask/character you were playing. So both games are good, and there's a little trade offs on each.

@@JeuelyFish Definitely! HM2 is one of my favorite games and if you enjoyed it you would definitely like Katana Zero. It took much inspiration from HM 1&2 and the story is beyond superb.

this is a good exapel of some games being hard but fare and the other one is just being unfair at times. when I was playing Dead Cells I constantly died a lot and at this point I was about to though my switch though the wall. but then after getting some use to it it ended up being forgiving. same with hollow knight or even beating the boss from undertale like asgore flowey undying and of course sans. not gonna lie those guys where cancer to fight. but end the end it ended up being rewarded. even though I ended up being a mas muderer on my third playthrough and I kinda felt bad. and of course enter the gungien. was one of them. anyway love your video hope you do more of explained the difficulty of gaming.

this can go into a couple other things like games that are purely multiplayer a good example could be sea of thieves until recently there wasn't a safe way to learn a lot of the things in the game and near the stop of when i played i of course had no idea what to do and had the problem of being destroyed by other players it has the issue of there being no explanation for anything and either requires you to have a friend who already knows the game or for you to spend tons of time learning things which can be hard when not all the rules apply to all the factors. escaping being chased how different cannon balls have different weight like the chain shot is twice as heavy as normal shot so you got to shoot way higher. with no safe way to learn the game you can get people who quit because they don't want to smack there face into a wall over and over. this even goes to other examples of when the game neglects to teach you and them expecting you to just know you can do things like the looking around in hotline miami while i am sure it tells you at some point you can do it but without the information you could have easily quit out of frustration because you think its unfair even darksouls has the decency to teach you basics before throwing you in but i have experienced some games that give you bare nothing and expect you to understand the most complicated of things. imagine if darksouls never told you about rolling and while you might roll once on accident you dont know what it can be used for or enter the gungeon if they never told you about dodge rolling. a game can be unfair in its failing to teach you the information that is necessary

yeah, this is a good point 👍 There's a sense that if the game doesn't give you some reasonable way of learning a mechanic or info that crucial, that it's not a fair contract of the game for the player. Tho I will say, I sometimes love games like ETG, minecraft, stardew, etc that have wiki's with novels worth of info that aren't explained in the game. But maybe I'm just a weirdo lol. Like you said, I think the important part is whether or not missing out on the info causing frustration or not for the over all experience
@nomymina542911 ай бұрын
that's one of the things i like about stardew valley is everything in game you can learn there is no 1 thing that cant be found out in game for example all the secret items and hidden things are taught to you threw lost books the game keeps track of gifts you give to people and even categorizes them into if they like dislike or love the gift while the wiki can be helpful you never need it for stardew@@JeuelyFish

Actually Getting over it isn't that fair. I was playing it much with friend, we won like 15 times. And we noticed that textures and hitboxes are NOT match in many situations. You can literally touch two identical pieces of, for example, mountain, and you will slide down in one case and not another. So all you have is to try again and again, memorizing what places you need to grab to, sliding down every time you don't remember. I don't think that's fair game.
