The Freeds look the best by a mile. You can get special order versions with harder shank and elastic drawstring, more glue in the tip, and whatever other customizations you’d like. Finding the right Freeds was totally transformative to my dancing.

You should try Russian pointe shoes I love mine so much they have really improved my dancing. I have a very high arch and narrow feet. This is definitely a shoe I would recommend to any dancer

Yeah I am the same and the Russians were my first pointe shoe. They look beautiful on my feet and you would love the color. They would look gorgeous on your super flexible feet as well

@rosehutchins23387 жыл бұрын
Freeds are handmade and are designed to be a softer shoe. They break in quickly for professionals and help students build strength because the dancers can't rely as much on the shoe. With that said, there are different makers and styles that vary in strength. (I have very archy feet and required a harder shoe when wearing Freeds. But even with the stronger shoes they still died a lot faster than other brands.) It looks like you have a K maker. It's probably a classic pro although it's hard to tell just by looking at it. The classic pros have an angled platform, which it sounds like you enjoy in your other shoes. If you need a harder shoe you can try different makers, a classic pro hard, or a studio. (Just a warning that the studios feel very different from the classics but they are also a lot stronger.) It would be best to try different options with a professional fitter because they can help direct you to the styles/makers that will work best for your foot. It takes most people a while to get used to Freeds but a lot of people like how they mold to your feet and allow a lot of control and articulation through the foot while dancing. Jet glue is a must for making them last for rehearsals and classes. Jet glue the inside of the tips either before wearing them or after your first class. It makes them loud (and sometimes slippery) though, so use your judgment if it's for a performance. Good luck!

The Freeds make your arches look fabulous! 😍😍 I wear Freeds and the softness of the shoe really allows for a lot of control and strengthens your feet as well. I hope you will make more videos on tips for jumps (e.g. cabrioles)

Because you said you don't like "messing with" your shoes - I suggest looking into Gaynor Minden. Their selling point is the shoe is perfect right out of the box and never breaks down for the life of the shoe.

They shoes do break down over time.

NIKITA duggal I just recently switched from gaynors to Freeds and had no problem! I loved my gaynors but it’s hard to tell when they’re dead because they get soft not broken and you also really have to alternate with gaynors because they don’t dry fast enough.

I absolutely know how you feel about the last pair! I felt that way about one of my pairs of Gaynor Minden pointe shoes. They felt fine when I was up en pointe but when I came down my toes felt really crunchy. I ended up getting so sick of the feeling that I went back to an almost dead pair until I could get fitted in a bigger city where I could get shoes that were better for my feet since my hometown's store only carried capizio and GM pointe shoes. I ended up getting Grishko 2007s and loved them, I didn't mind that they were softer because I don't have very archy feet and actually almost got them in a 3/4 shank but my right foot was just a little more flexible than my left and needed a full shank.

Talia, it’s awesome to hear all of your pointe shoe experiences!!! I think you’ll really like the freed classic deep vamp style. I’ve been wearing them for many years and find myself unable to go back to any other shoe! That being said, you really have to let them dry out between wearing them otherwise they will die really really fast. I usually get 2-3 pairs every time i get new pointe shoes and rotate through with Freed classics. I think the grishko shoe you may have liked was called the Maya, I think we have similar feet and that one always fit me better than the 2007. Please make a video to let us know how you like the repetto and freed shoes!! I attended the Paris opera ballet school summer programme last year and got repetto Carlotta shoes while I was there, they didn’t work very well for me but I hope the julietta works for you!! ❤️

I swear every video comes at the most convenient time! Thank you so much talia - I do your body strengthening routine every day, follow your turnout and foot exercises and I get so many good comments because of it! I would intently watch your 'breaking in pointe shoes' video every time I went en Pointe in my first pair! You inspire me to be a better dancer (my favourite thing about your dancing that I am working on is that 'ease' of movement you have!) and I have no doubt you will become a great ballerina! I would love to have an audition advice video (specific tips that may make the difference between a yes or no!) and also a timeline style video of your ballet journey so far! Another food video would be nice (I tried the smoothie and it was 😍 deliiicious!). Oh, and finally I would really like a 'leotard colours/styles to suit different body types/skin tones/hair colour etc if possible! Sending lots of love and an arabesque!

I’ve been using the Grishko 2007 for a couple of years now and they are my favourite pointe shoes - my ballet teacher insists on them because of the Russian style! My first ever pair was also a Bloch Heritage but I found them way too soft to support my feet properly.

Anna Powila I also have the yellow shank but I noticed that it is a lot harder to get over the three box than the four. Which one do you have? That may explain it
@katharinethomas41737 жыл бұрын
sketti skettimen I usually tie my drawstrings and just cut them for that reason. The three box gives me that issue too, I have pretty good feet otherwise.

I love gaynors so much but I have the green bag but they need something stronger! My feet are super strong and I go over the box too much sometimes.
@auroragrace2407 жыл бұрын
I love them. If you can’t get over your box, it’s probably not the right shank of vamp for you. Try going to a softer shank (maybe the pink bag). Gaynors don’t break down like regular pointe shoes do, so the shank strength that you get will stay pretty much that exact strength for a while.

1. Looooooove your videos 2. What kind of pointe shoe is the gold one? 3. I wear Mirella pointe shoes 4. The shank is the wooden part that extends from the toes to the heel. It's usually hard, and supports the arches. 5. The vamp is the hard part that encases the toes 6. I always have a hard time finding pointe shoes because my toes are really long and my foot is really thin
@lily-rosewilliamson46494 жыл бұрын
Totally get your opinion on hard shoes and before I got my first pair I thought the exact same thing! However when I was fitted we realised that because of my hyper mobility in my ankles I must have a super hard shank otherwise I am going over way too far. I would love to see a video of tips for surviving long runs of classes and rehearsal! I also love love loved bloch heritage when i wore them, but after a while they only took a couple of hours to die. I wear the bloch grace now, which has a much harder shank (although if you don't like a super hard shoe - these are so hard out of the box that you can't even bend them with your hands) which you might like if you like the heritage, as they have a pretty similar silhouette (to my eyes, at least). Also I'm pretty sure the Freed classics are so soft because they're made for performing, so they form to your feet really quick and they'll basically be trashed after a show or two.

I just had my second fitting and I tried the Aries shoe. I agree that it was ver hard to tell if you were right on top of the box. I ended up getting a different size of my first shoe. They didn’t have the size in store that was likely to fit me the best, but I had missed weeks of pointe classes so I was desperate, so I got a shoe that was a bit to long. I tried on a size too small for me of the Euro-stretch. It was really comfortable, but the store didn’t carry the euro-stretch anymore. The pair I tried was a pair left in the store room. Before next fitting I may call the store and ask them to order in a pair for me to try.

Hi Talia! Happy new year! The videos I would love to see from you this year are your experience with RAD exams. What grades/how old you were/your results/which grades you liked or didn’t like/ if you think it has helped you in your dance career and what you think about exams and RAD syllabus in general. I know this may not be a popular request but RAD is big in the UK and there is little to no discussion about them online and I would love to hear your thoughts! I also think in general your knowledge and experience can be incredibly valuable to so many people and young dancers and I would love to see in depth videos about your life as a dancer, your aspirations, your influences and inspirations, the good and the bad when it comes to being a dancer. Real honest, down to Earth and conversational content. (Not that you’re not doing that already, I would just love to see more from you!). I love watching your videos, you are such an inspiration to so many people. I look forward to seeing what 2018 brings you and best of luck with everything you hope to achieve! 💓

This is a great vid and I can relate because I'm big on pointe, too❤️I hope you keep posting! You just got a new subbie😉 also could you make a video on how to get over your box more? I'm mostly over it but I can't stand looking in the mirror and seeing that tiny part that's not flat on the floor.

All of those shoes look great on your feet! 😂 Those Freeds look like they have a flatter platform than mine do. Are they the Pro 90s? I want to try a pair with an elastic drawstring since the Classic Freeds have a cotton drawstring which doesn't work well for my narrow feet 😕

Hi! I would really like either a video showing us a barre class we can do while having a foot injury or tips for healing dance injuries quickly. I love your vids :)

I would love to see a video about what you would recommend getting for a birthday or gift that is a dance related product as I am having trouble deciding what to get for my Birthday. And how to get flexible; back, hips and how to get flexible real fast!

I would like to see a future video on knee strengthening after an injury or ways to help you improve in your classes faster (different exercises, different ways to have confidence etc... since those have to do with helping you perform and progress) that would be very nice!

Contact the manufacturer. Freed's will take an order hon. They're in London. You deserve a great shoe to follow you on your dance career. Good luck!
