Great job for your first use of the equipment. The only suggestion I’d make is to place the dirt removed from the ditch on the other side, away from the road. This allows runoff from the road to flow into the ditch.

Thanks for watching! The trench was on the high side of the road, at our steepest corner. So water flows down into the ditch, and the berm is between the ditch and the road. Thanks again!

Your first mini-excavator rental!!! They are a lot of fun to use. Hmm, wondering if it will be your last time renting it?? LOL I say that because I am on my 4th rental, now. These definitely are not cheap. I try to get as much as done possible, too. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Great job, we all have to start somewhere so your learning how to operate the excavator will come in handy again when you need to do more. Don't be afraid to learn to use other machines as you will undoubtedly have fun, just remember to do it safely.
