Great idea! Next time i ask the wife if we can get a mini digger to dig culverts, I'll show her this! Hopefully it won't be 'ooh, but we live in a 12th floor apartment' all over again.

The 4WD 995 would have been nice here in SE QLD during the last 6 months of non stop rain. Luckily the diff lock just saved it several times from being parked up belly deep in the mud for weeks.

Once again Marty, a very enjoyable video. I really enjoyed the start when your son followed you in his little quad bike and you talked to him about the job. I have 2 sons, both now grown but when they were young I always tried to get them involved in anything I was doing, even if it was just scoring a line along a straight edge in preparation for cutting a piece of wood. They were always willing to help.

I had the pleasure of living next door to an old gentleman who while retired, would make wooden toys and children’s table and chair sets for charity. My eldest son who was only 2-3 years old would go over the neighbour’s house when he was making the toys and tables. This gentleman loved my son. He would actually give him little jobs he was capable of doing. He was so very patient and my son loved every minute of it. A very fond memory from my eldest son’s childhood.

From my experience, extra nice pipe for a culvert. The TB217R made that job look easy. Where I live that job would have taken 20 workers, 10 machines, 3 weeks, after the permitting taking an additional 3 years with a Civil Engineer's sign off on the "plans" and a formal 500 page environmental impact study (may or may not be an exaggeration).

Hey Marty, awesome job and video! You should contact Takeuchi so they can share this video as promotional material. Watching this, I want one!! About 13 years ago, I picked up an old Bobcat skid steer for what it would have cost me to have a job done. Some of the best money I ever spent. In that same vein, I need to seriously look for a mini excavator.

Hello Marty. With that excavator swing arm, you almost have an articulating bucket. When you said you would put some aluminum down, I thought you meant farther down. With this placement, it will carry the water father out to, hopefully, prevent the bank from eroding. Have good days!

Careful with using the side slide on these machines. The hydraulics cool down pretty quick. That can cause havoc with the valves. Best to go hell for leather and keep them warm. When you get the cold HF in the pump it really strains it. Sometimes they can even lock the ignition. Handy hint: Always check for that bastard of a stone that is keeping the side swipe depressed.

It might be worth it to look into a hydraulic thumb for that little excavator if it has enough oomph to run one . Guys that have them love em and tend to put one on all their new stuff going forward . Great for picking rocks , logs , brush , other miscellaneous items . Seems like it'd be a good fit for you .

I learned a great trick for starting the chain saw/2 stroke anything 4 stroke etc. This is really good for kids, pull the cord all the way out and let go, that will normally start the machine and I beleive it is the recommendedmeathod for starting chainsaws.... it also stops you jerking the machine towards you and less stress on the starting mechanism.

Really like that spike attachment, worked really well with that compressed stone. Those goats know that terrain backwards, so although your dog might enjoy the chase I don't think somehow its going to get lucky. Is it wrong that a 60+ adult can be jealous of your son, at his age having his own quad, when we I was at his age lucky to have a 2wheeled scooter. 😂👍

The blade on those mini excavators are made so you can use them to level yourself up when digging on uneven ground, that being said you could have straddled the trench with your track tips on one side and the blade supporting you on the other side to finish digging the trench just use the arm to support your self getting into position, granted it is more of an experienced move but I believe you probably got the know how to pull it off 😁👍
