DIGGING OUT A HUGE PINE STUMP WITH KUBOTA KX080-3 (3+foot stump)

I spent years in the bush ripping stumps out with excavators, including northern BC, Alberta, Northern Ontario, NL and Labrador dealing with some massive trees in general. Few things I find to save time, cut that stump down, I know people look at tree base as leverage but once you dig below horizontal roots there is lots of leverage with the stump anyways. To me it is just an extra obstacle to dig around. Don’t be shy with your thumb, it is your best friend. After 3-4 ft down leave the dirt/ roots in the hole! The more you pull out the more you gotta put back. Lastly, focus on getting under the stump. This is where having a stump zipped at ground level makes life So much easier, as you can focus more on digging under the stump from the far side. Not trying to downplay your efforts just something I find that I do to this day and pop those bad boys out in 15-20 mins backfilled. Good video though and respect what you do.

I've dug up several stumps that size with my little kubota BX23S backhoe. It took me a couple days and I used the power stroke to pull it out of the hole

@@jeffreid3341 I removed 40" base Cedar stumps with a KX40. Just need the leverage of the tree to assist. Pull with a 1" nylon or polyester rope (60 feet up the tree trunk) with a 4x4 truck and no problem.

I dig em out lot Bigger than this with my 80 .just traded it in on mcr10 believe I've it doesn't perform as well as kubota 80 I've made a monumental mistake hoping for the best tho.like your videos sam.

You guys need a single tooth ripper. I dig stumps out this big with my Yanmar 55 no problem. The ripper breaks the roots off so fast.

Hey bud if you get back aways from that stump with that trackhoe you have way more leverage put that blade in the ground pick yourself up reach out and pull the kx80 has some ass. I have a kx121-3SS about a 10000 lb to 11000 lb machine I love and now I'm wanting to buy a kx80 to have a little bit bigger machine. But man I love the videos keep up the good work I hope my advice finds you well buddy. And can you do a video of you hauling the load to the plant and what the plant look like?

yeah I was all over that stump back and fourth left and right. had a 20 minute clip just doing all that. tried to keep it short and sweet but that stump was a fighter glad its not everyday thing. and 161 is nice spent a lot of time in one last couple weeks. 080 quite a bit bigger. I love the 080 my favorite machine and ill try to get a video of going to the mill sometime

Heck yeah bud. And I love the trucks for sure all of them lol. Keep up the great work. I'm here in Wilmington NC. I do a little of the same work you do . I also have a svl90-2 HIGH-FLOW with a MM72 BRADCO drum mulcher and I love it. I do a lot of different types of work that's why I'm running a skid steer which I should buy a dedicated mulching machine. Because my Kubota svl90 has mainly done nothing but mulching. But it nice to have when I do tree jobs it's a beast lifting and mulching. I have just rolled 2000 hrs on my machine and hasn't been in shop one time for nothing but a service from when new. I have been lucky on that. But I like Kubota dependability
