Grenade launcher is underrated on the bot front because its the only tool that you can use to dig a hole to hide from the bots in. On Super Earth they are called fox holes, on Wezen they were called Hell Holes

You could increase the uptime of the 500kg slightly by bringing another eagle and having the final eagle upgrade, which decreases downtime by 10% when remaining eagle uses are available when rearming.

I first tried this with the infinite grenade glitch a while back! Though we did make big holes, we used the holes to make a moat with little water puddles, since expanding holes with water expanded the water. We did so with moderate success.

There is a glitch with stratagems that are shared with the whole team that if you input the code before it's used by someone, once it impacts the ground, another person can use it again without the cooldown. Do this for supply stratagem so you can dig faster.

I ran the eruptor during the session, but between supply backpacks, resupplies, and 500KGs, there wasnt much time to use it over the grenade launcher, which was more efficient.

How much of your time is spent waiting for ammo? Would eruptor or crossbow let you dig more? Could you bring quasars to have an ammo and cooldown independent digging tool? Grenade, space optimization, demolition armor to turn your reinforce into ordinace as well? Mortar sentey, especially if you can get a bugged unkillable enemy to center your hole on, could also add a lot of excavation power.

The distannce from marker points is actually measured from your camera, so the hole isnt 10 meters deep. you could go prone on the edge, then use first person mode. Also, you could use the orbital precision strike too, right? i think it makes the same explosion as the 500kg.

Mortar sentries are also rly good at digging, you just need a target for them to constantly shoot at, but if you take 4 mortar sentries in a defense mission you will see that their digging power is pretty insane on the constant bug breaches

Stuff like this makes me wish some maps where players have finished a mission on had lingering effects on others maps. Kinda like how in Death Stranding people can leave items for other porters to have an easier time, or even find other's lost cargo. That second one at least would be nice because I wish I could leave a fully loaded railgun or whatnot near an empty stash with an actual note that says "Last note left Oatmeal, it was nice, here's something to keep the fight going" for another diver to find.

The bug-hive bomb mission, stretches the terrain down and placed a modelled "crater" to give the effect the explosion exploded the underground colony. This explains why there is a very detailed deep-rocky crater, and the stretched terrain around it when he was down there. Devs scripted the hole to be that deep and use the explosion to quickly place the modelled crater in. But we can see the possibility of the hole being deeper than the modelled crater given when he was reinforced into the hole.

honestly, if they have the capability for this, with their terrain... I want dedicated tools for moving land in Helldivers, now. Imagine creating chokepoints by moving shitloads of dirt to funnel enemies into going where you want them to go, before activating a drill and triggering bug breaches. Or moving a bunch of dirt behind a sentry to block LoS, so that it doesn't fire in *that* specific direction. How useful do I think this would be? Probably not very (especially if it takes up a stratagem slot). But it would be pretty rad.
