That opening "horde of hordes" was pretty intense! As for the digging at the base... remember that one raider one-shotting the soil as they shot at you? What if it's not zombies digging, but raiders/survivors shooting at zombies, but missing and hitting the dirt? A raider/survivor with a pipe smg would easily explain the distressingly deep line of 1-block tunnels in the side of the mountain, especially considering that it's the side facing the town that said holes are in! I'd suggest back-filling with dirt, but put one block of cobble or concrete behind the outermost dirt layer to prevent it from happening as frequently. Yeah, it'll chew up resources otherwise used for Horde Night prep, but when needs must, ya gotta bite the bullet at some point. And _absolutely_ put bracing ribs into the driveway! No point in risking collapse. And definitely add some bracing to the garage itself once built! If _that_ collapses, odds are the entire base (and everything/everyone inside it) will collapse with it, and result in extreme losses.

Good stuff Tem! Im level 109 on the purge. Our events are getting nutz! We added the brass catcher mod because we couldnt find nearly enough brass. We both leave the house with about 3000 to 4000 rounds of different ammo. 😮 Also remember to make yourself the genetics mod to max all five categories. Nice space saver for other mods. Also also golden rod for ore, yucca juice for dirt and trees

That evidence of digging is a scary thing to see tem. Honestly the moment you first decided to build on a mountain of dirt and stone I got a queasy feeling lol. It just looks so dang cool though! And you know what? A spectacular horde base collapse is going to be entertaining as heck if it does happen jus so we can see what you end up doing about it.

Upgrading deployable turrets gives more ammo capacity, higher fire rate, more damage, and most importantly, more turrets. Leveling up turrets means more turrets can be active at the same time. Getting hit with multiple seekers? You can lay down multiple turrets with ap or shell ammo and go nuts. The only problem with turrets is the massive need for lead. I find the benefit of the small army of deployable crowd control worth the effort.

I started as a hunter (lvl 4 or 5 ATM) and I'm thinking of going Thechnogeek next for the stuns mostly. I love using the stun batons on regular playthroughs. I can't tell you how much I would love to just press a button and just spawn in a bunch of turrets. It would be so much fun!!

​@@tylerjohnson805 you won't be disappointed. Between the aura and the batons you will have many stuns, and as you level, the stuns will last longer. And then use the turret skill when all hope is lost. I love it.

I know the books help with getting levels, but I haven't been getting much of the fragments (the blue ones) to make into books. So solely relying on them to get levels would be difficult for me.

I actually really like large random hordes better than horde night. I like the potential that I might have to abandon a quest or make a tactical retreat. It adds a sense of realism. Vanilla, it's just such a linear progression where you really are always on the top of the food chain after the first few days. I also want to know for sure if your base is being attacked while you are gone. If it is, that changes the strategy a lot. Need to max out companions to stay behind, and invest in active base defense. Love it.

If I remember correctly AP bullets have penetration, so if you pop the first zombie in the conga line in the head, it should pass through and maybe get you multiple headshots. Its great for having them in hallways or coming through doors to get multiple kills, thin the horde, and get a chance at more headshots.

My day 77 Blood Moon night went as the following (Wight (attacks base 1 game hour before horde starts) > Horde > Outbreak > Deaths Whisper (Bandits) > Seeker x2 (and for good measure toss in some screamers after the blood moon and dealing with the other aspects.... so much heat generated). Gotta be careful with this mod, if your feeling strong and comfortable the game is going to be giving you a reality check in the hard way soon enough.

The Red Rocket is great for early game. Not only can you get a few car parts and tires, you can also get a chem station along the outside wall and a random crafting station inside the garage. And if you double loot it, you can get a different random station from the garage.

A good solution for the horde base would be adding the wedged stair shape at the top so they can crawl up the corners easier. Similarly you can use the same shape you edged the base with for extra support as a ramp. The zombies would be able to navigate that sharp corner to jump up easier.

I feel like Tim should level the revolver of the techno geek class so he can have a secondary for when his main gun breaks. Also weapon repair kits wouldn’t hurt… This episode should have started with the lead mining. Still great episode 🎉

Yeah, the digging happens a lot in this game. Basically bandits/survivors fight zombies or each other, a lot of their shot miss and even the ones using pipe weapons can one-shot the soil. They shoot the soil so often in this mod because the combination of their aim and the zombies being tanky, they get too close and get weapon-butted, bandits/survivors shoot down at the ragdolled zombies, missed and dig the soil accidentally.

ap ammo is busted, when you get pentration aura craft it asap. use it 24/7 cause you never know when wandering hordes/outbreaks come, and save like 100-200 ap bullets in your inventory. when outbreak/wandering horde, switch to ap ammo and watch you exp sky rocket(my friend in 1 magazine(45 bullets) of ap ammo killed entire wandering horde of rads(he was using best heavy handgun but this applies to all weapons))

I'm just setting up my first base in the Desert for a purge playthrough and I placed down my loot gathering unit - but I forget to mention that you need to switch it on - press E and then when the radial menu comes up press activate unit. This is probably why your loot gathering unit isnt doing anything at your base. Also, please get your pack mule skill to level 5 so you can put stuff into your vehicle from 50m away, it will save so much time.

23:48 I just got PTSD... I once did a challange with my friends to build a base in a winter city from day one but we had to use a POI as a base, and we picked a metro.... near a sewer system.... And mind you, in cities instead of rocks you have snow all the way down to the bottom with only the skin of stone... They dug soo MANY FUCKING TUNNELS.... I had to fill everythiing in concrete and fill whole sever system with solid blockc, it was a nightmare. Whats even funnier is that we dig into the wall at the metro and unfortunetely we dig right under a park.... THEY DUG STRAIGHT DOWN WITH SCREAMERS and flooded our whole base and crafting ares while also stormin the main entrance. We covered the whole park in bulletproof glass ( to make a farm underneath, underground of course, we dug the whole park down to the metro level xD )

At this stage, you should focus on producing HiPower Ammo and AP rounds exclusively. You can convert regular ammo into HiPower using the workbench. I know you’re not a fan of handguns, but they’re significantly better in Rebirth. It’s all I use. With a fully kitted STI, I can take down zombies faster than with my machine guns. Even my builder outperforms my Soldier’s machine guns and handles ammo efficiency much better.

@Gns I think im going to have to get the APC repaired now. I was about to get the motorcycle first, but being able to just run hords over and over again would be awesome!! Ive had 3 deaths whispers attacks within like 10-15min of each other. I havent been questing more than 1km away from my base, but having your but ganked and destroyed by them. To only just turn around and hoof it back and clear them out, to get yet another death whister right awfter you finished the first one. And i had it happen 3 times in a row. Having a tough vehicle like tHe APC would make mowing them down soo much fun!!!

Seriously consider using two types of melee weapon and two types of ranged. For example if you use the baton and/or the revolver you will level technogeek much faster. Also by using the revolver you will save you AR ammo.

Between you and Jawoodle today, why don't you guys make/bring repair kits? I mean you didn't have any and he brought 2 to do an infested Grover High in the (vanilla) Wasteland. At least you had meds. Also, people have mentioned it, but work on turning genetic fragments into the genetic Mods. Once you have them crafted they can be crafted into 1 mod for all of them. Also, for the garage, be sure to put down a floor otherwise the zombies will spawn down there on horde night.

Looks like the baddies are trying to "undermine" your efforts, Tem!...Yeah, I'll stop the lame jokes. With the way the mountain looks, you might be forced to (at least) run your Base support pillars way down through the mountain or, materials permitting, you might have to hollow out the mountain and build some sort of internal Barrier/pyramid beneath the Topsoil. Might be overkill and take way too fricking long but the way it is, I'm really concerned the Mountain might not make it. Hordes get crazy and you're getting up there in Game Stage. Just my two cents!
