Worked for one device so far! (I've only tried one, it was a Globe Plug) I'm excited to ditch the Tuya control (even the local mod is still annoying). The video inspired me to finally pick up a used Pi 3+ and get this running. Worked first try without any issues. Great guide (website)! Cheers!

It's addicting! I've never had much luck with the Tuya local junk either, all been hit or miss. I've stuck to the ESPHome stuff and it just works.

Bro your nails were looking good in that Raspberry Pi shot. I bought my first Matter plugs the other day (used your tutorial on setting up Matter for HA) and think I'm going to try to go that route in the future. I'm tired of fighting China to keep my data local.

Very good video from start to finish, I'd like to see a part 2 for new users on the settings for the yamls, what they do and reccomended and advance settings. Give like a good little overview so if someone is setting up a new device they can understand how to start building a devices Yaml. Keep up the great information videos!

Great video! I was able to get my feit light bulbs out of the cloud. My bulb did not have a profile so i used a similar one and was able to get it work. Some of the pin layout for the color needed to be adjusted. Do you know where i can submit the bulb profile so that other people dont have to spend time like it did?

You can submit it on the Tuya-Cloudcutter github issues and I'm sure they will see it. github.com/tuya-cloudcutter/tuya-cloudcutter/issues

I read about someone manually flashing firmware but also wasnt sure if that would work. Do you know if the devices that use a Gateway to connect can be flashed via this method?

This is a great video. Thanks! I successfully transitioned a Tuya device to ESPHome, only to discover the water leak sensor doesn't have a profile yet. Is it possible to flash tuya back? Also, how can I accurately identify whether a device can be converted? I'm looking at a wifi socket with a firmware of 1.0.2, but how do I identify more details? I checked the firmware on cloudcutter, but I'm still not certain whether this device will work.

I wouldn't do battery wifi devices and they are not great nor would I try to flash them either. Check to see if they have a profile for that firmware version and just try it is really the only way.

I was wondering if Cloudcutter still worked on current stuff.
@Markyboy7675 күн бұрын
As long as the devices haven’t been updated they should be fine to flash with cloudcutter. I think there are some new firmwares coming out that aren’t flashable OTA at the moment.
@digiblurDIY4 күн бұрын
It depends on the firmware version.
@ivlis326 күн бұрын
Nice video, but almost all devices I bought recently are not flashable, either a profile does not exist (and creating one is for a faint of heart) or just patched firmware.
@digiblurDIY6 күн бұрын
You don't have to create a new profile. That's more of the Tuya cloudcutter devs doing that from the manual firmware dumps. Do the other exploits work?

@digiblurDIY5 күн бұрын
Ooof... Thats a nope for me. Matter can be a mess at times plus you can't do custom stuff with your devices.
@jpierce19875 күн бұрын
@digiblurDIY genuinely curious what you mean. New to Home Assistant (3 weeks) and I haven't had any issues at all. What custom stuff am I missing? Only thing I've noticed is lighting effects, which they've said is coming in the future, but I don't really ever use effects.
@digiblurDIY5 күн бұрын
@jpierce1987 I have had on multiple occasions where devices dropped off, had to be paired again, Matter stopped working entirely. The pain of having to use ipv6 and forward that traffic over vlans is another pain point. Custom stuff example would be the configurations of say multi button press to trigger other devices and actions.
@jpierce19875 күн бұрын
@@digiblurDIY Might be worth another look since they updated the matter server. I have them all on my main ipv4 network and not a single issue at all. They respond immediately, as if I flipped the light switch. I'm using multi manager, so they are currently managed by HA, Google Home and the aidot app (for when my kids want the lighting effects in their room.) Also have matter smart plugs all over, no issues there. I think they might have fixed whatever bugs previously existed, because it's been great. 30+ matter devices in my setup. I was expecting issue, which is why I set them up in Google Home to have a fallback, but they've been flawless.

@@digiblurDIY Agreed - Tuya cloud is gross! Well I went for it, got all the way to a successful flash and my Tuya "TY1CHA5-RF" smartswitch that has the CB3S - with Chip BK7231N. It now shows up on my network as "Smartlife-4486". I cant seem to connect to the smartswitch via my phone or PC to load the new ESPhome Bin files. I tried just going to the IP address as well with no luck. Tried several reboots and slow blink searching/connect attempts and seem to be stuck.
