Thanks for you videos, Travis. I discovered Tuya Convert from you and converted all of my smart plugs over to Tasmota. Then I saw your Wyze Sense video and was made aware of the great Wyze sensors and incredibly easy Home Assistant integration. Man, those things are great. The majority of my sensors are hardwired and tied into Konnected, but the Wyze Sense motion sensors and contact sensors allowed me to supplement those where needed. I also found I could simply solder two thin wires to the normal reed switch contacts and fold them under the contact sensor for an extremely compact and cheap leak detector sensor. No special raindrop PCB required. Just had to flip the on/off with a sensor template in Home Assistant. Anyway, without your channel, I wouldn't have known about either, so a big thanks from me!

Although bulkier, I prefer these 16A switches over the more compact and smaller 10A versions. If the spec's accurate, 16A means if the plug's on a 15A household breaker, and there's an overload, the breaker will trip before the switch fries.

Everyone please keep in mind: Newer devices are quickly updating to other chips disabling this process. Many of them have started referencing the "Chipset" used in their devices as "MediaTek/Realtek" so these are vendors trying to avoid a high rate of return for failed converts. Also read the description, especially on Amazon - many reference " Only works on Meross APP " this is another indicator they have disabled the Tuya Convert Process. As a rule of thumb, if it says control with Smart Life and Tuya, it _SHOULD_ be OK to T.C. Good luck. #Tollbringer in Discord if you are stuck!

I have just successfully completed flashing a medion smart plug from ALDI running Tuya. It wasn't with several problems which I will run through in case anyone else having issues. 1. I have been a part time home assistant user for about 2 years now, but this level of video blew my mind. What I did find is I watched it over and over and over and over and over again compartmentalizing what was being shown. 2. I thought I would trying using Virtualbox VM instead of walking downstairs to get my raspberry PI (how lazy am I) there wasn't much info for doing this with Virtualbox so I ended using my PI. 3. I used my mobile phone not the Wemos D1 (if you dont have one dont worry it doesnt make a difference just use your phone). 4. You need to set the Wifi code for your country before you run the start_flash.sh you can do this by typing sudu raspi-config which will open a popup menu which is navigatable with the up/down/left/right arrows and hitting enter to confirm. Choose Localisation Options and arrow down to your country and hit enter then enter again to confirm which will take you back to the main menu, hit right arrow to highlight finish which will take you back to the ssh window. 5. I had lots of different errors once I got into the ./start_flash.sh area and beyond. Mine seemed to all be attributed to the tuya-convert folder not having fully been downloaded completely. Do you self a favour if get errors delete the tuya-convert folder (use google) and start from 6:19 in the video again downloading tuya-covert folder again making sure nothing failed, if it had errors doing download keep repeating deleting the folder and downloading it again until it doesnt have errors. 6. If you reboot or power off your pi you need to set the wifi country code again (i did anyway). Other thoughts: This is the only Tuya device I have bought and at first I thought wow my time is worth so much more than the time I am wasting on this $14AUD plug, but after reading some more I realized Tuya firmware is in alot of devices and I am going to come across products in the future so as time consuming as this hurdle was for me it should pay off in long run. And of course a special thanks for taking the time you put into making this video for us techo's. And document everything. And listen and respond to at times what might seem like stupid questions.

Hi Travis. Thanks for posting this video. Perfect timing. I haven't used Tuya Convert since version 1. Just ordered some Gosund WP6s, and thanks to your video, I'll be ready to flash when these arrive. I have some questions: - The latest released version of Tasmota is v8.1.0. The Tasmota Github page doesn't show a Tasmoto-wifiman.bin file. Which bin file should I use if I want the latest Tasmota? What's the maximum size bin file I can use with Tuya Convert? - My previously Tuya converted devices still use Tasmota v6.5.0. I'm thinking of upgrading to the latest Tasmota. I recall at one point, in order to do an OTA flash, one needs to first flash with the minimal bin, then flash again with the fully-loaded version. Is this still necessary? - I've been using ESPHome Flasher for wired flashing for quite awhile. Never heard of Tasmotizer until you mentioned it in this video. Is Tasmotizer a better flasher than ESPHome Flasher and all the others?
@digiblurDIY5 жыл бұрын
The WiFiMan one is on the development link listed on the Tasmota github readme page. You could use the latest stable -lite version but I'm not sure if the wifimanager is default on that bin so be careful putting in your wifi info. On previously TC'd devices I would do a backup of the configuration, then a "reset 5" on the console, then a restore of the config. Then you can do the OTA upgrade. It will do minimal for you if needed automatically. The Tasmotizer one is of course meant more for Tasmota give it will download and flash the binaries all in one step plus backup the binary if you want. Then you can even have it send over your wifi info and other configs. It's pretty cool. I showed it in my iFan03 video too.

Regarding the error "Device did not appear with the intermediate firmware", it seems that it is a problem with the mqtt broker which is being installed on the operating system. At first I had a clean linux installation before installing HA and I tried the steps mentioned in the video and it worked at once easily, then I installed HA and Mqtt and I tried later to flash new devices but wasnt able to do so like before. So I found a comment mentioning using an older version of Tuya convert. I tried it and worked with me. Found out that the mqtt version is the problem. So to solve it you have to install the tuya convert prequesit again to overwrite what HA have. Then after flashing you will have to uninstall Mosquitto (search online for bash command) and then remove and reconfigure HA again to work with your devices.
@digiblurDIY4 жыл бұрын
Which error? The prompts? I don't have HA installed on this SD card.
@3adelz904 жыл бұрын
@@digiblurDIY I have updated my comment. Seems that there is a conflict between mosquitto versions of tuya convert prequisites and the one used by HA because after I install HA broker, the error appeared. And only after running the preuisiste file, I was able to flash the devices. But that destroyed by HA mqtt devices, so I uninstalled the mosquitto completely and followes again the steps the add mqtt broker to HA.

Hi Digiblur, my lights have been working on Tasmota 8.1 and I decided to upgrade to Tasmota 11, bearing in mind that the Tuyu convert guys says it perfectly acceptable once you have flashed tuya convert onto your device. Well, I had first to flash the Tasmota minimal file as there wasn't enough memory to directly flash version 11. After that I was able to flash the latest tasmota lite with no problem. I then had to reset the module to AIlite (27) again, well no sliders or toggle are available to operate the light. I notice that there is no association for GPIO13 and 15 to operate MY92x1. I tried updating the template using the zemismart code {"NAME":"ZemiDownLight","GPIO":[0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,143,0,144,0],"FLAG":0,"BASE":27} But again nothing shows up in GPIO13 and 15. Have you any ideas?

What do you do when this process fails due to firmware block? I have about 40 switches in my home, all of the single pole switches had an older version of the firmware and flashed without issue. The 3-way switches however, have a newer version of the stock firmware (1.1.4) and won't convert. I'm pretty new to the tuya-convert (custom flashing) process, but I want all of the my switches to run Tasmota!!! I want to install some smart bulbs on some of the 3-ways and let tasmota control them via groups and rules. What do I do? Can they still be flashed via a direct connection? Is there an alternate OTA way to flash when the firmware is blocked? Can you point me to an instructional video for overcoming this issue? I'm sure this is repeat question, and I'm sorry for that. Running the old script it asks me if I want to disable MQTT, and on the RasPi screen, suddenly you can't access the WiFi. (Probably because the WiFi device is being used to create the WAP) With the new version, I run the script and it asks me if I want to continue. I can go up and access visible WAPs. Therefore the WAP isn't being created. Which explains why my phone can't find it. So I can't use it any better than the previous version.

It just keeps retrying to find a device. Not sure but i have a feeling these might have a newer firmware on them. Any ideas or has anyone else had issues with these and how to get them to flash?

Check the log files in the scripts folder. Look at the psk one.

Well being the impatient person that I am. I decided to just get a usb serial adapter and try manually flashing the chip. I was able to do it without soldering so that was nice! Just used a bread board, electrical tape and some cat 6 wires. Used tasmotizer to do the flashing and it was done in a few seconds.

@@antasp9581 Hey, i'm in the same boat, but i can't get either the SS01 or the SSO1S to work.. do you have the procedure somewhere for this direct flash option?

Tried this with a newer Gosund plug. Did not work. Got "Device did not appear with the intermediate firmware". I am thinking that the Gosund might have newer firmware that no longer allows this.

They've been updating the firmware to block things for a while.

Thank you for the reply back. I did get this to work (sort of) with a Nite Bird LED. It was flashed and I have Tasmota showing it as a generic module, but there is no toggle/control switch for it. Trying to figure out how to configure it from here. I tried how to create a new device template, but when I restart it, it does not show up in the console and there are still no toggle switches.

Not sure why I would want to do this, but man I gotta say, you have a detailed process of doing this. The only reason I happened upon your video was due to a Lohas LED WIFI bulb that quit responding to my app or Alexa. I decided to pop the lens off it and check the power going into it and then noticed there was a twye2s wifi board in it. I decided to do a search and see what it was and if it could be used for any projects. incidentally, the power coming from the power supple in the bulb is showing 1.7 volts. I'm guessing that's too low because most of those power supplies I have seen around 12 volts.
@digiblurDIY3 жыл бұрын
TWYE2S should be powered via 3.3 volts.
@stevenA443 жыл бұрын
@@digiblurDIY Oh ok, but still, the power supply from the mains is only outputting 1.7 volts onto the circuit board.

Let me just get one thing clear. The WeMos D1 is the one that connects to the Tuya device? So having an old Pi without WiFi means I just need the WeMos, no USB WiFi?
@digiblurDIY4 жыл бұрын
The Wemos was used as the "donor" device. It just connects itself to that vtrust-flash AP. It helps with the smartconfig process at times. You'll need a Linux based device whether it be VM, boot CD, install or a Pi that has a wifi adapter that supports AP mode.

Just got these smart plus from Amazon. Looks like they are now selling the X6P not the X5P version. I tried tuya convert and it was a nogo. I haven't opened one up yet, but I am pretty sure they have fixed the exploit that let us do this :(
