Jamir Connelly the only thing to keep in mind is if you want to do actually training you have to check in on it and tell them to start a new course, but otherwise just stick whoever you want in the farm (don’t leave the farm menu or anything open) and just hit the power button to put your switch to sleep, your play time will also continue to go up.

Once you need serious levels, the best thing to do is raise a platinum digimon and give them tactician usbs. They have 999 defense from lv1, and a party skill that massively boosts experience gained. Using them later on, you can get around 200k exp a fight, letting you level digimon absurdly quickly. The farm is nice for passive exp but it will take a really really long time to reach the higher points.

Regarding what you said in the beginning, nostalgia is often used for cheap profit by companies but it's true that our childhood and youngster series and heroes stay with us forever. It's comforting to rewatch some old episodes or arcs from old shows and, in the best case scenario, they remind us who we are, who we were and our journey from then to now. @@VentraleStar Comparing it to the 3DS games, Sword and Shield did have about the same amount of content. But it had less content then some of the DS games. For example, you could unlock most of the Kanto region in Heartgold and Soulsilver.

​@Cbg G I honestly find the grind pretty fair once you understand how to do it. Really shouldn't get too concerned about it until toward the end of the game, then you're safe to buckle-down. Like in pokemon, there are tricks to make things a lot more efficient. I was able to pound out some personal favourites at lv99 with maximum Abi and good skills within a couple days, just making sure I used PlatinumNumemon as party leads and hit the right areas. The ability to auto battle and auto-summon encounters at will make it a pretty mindless experience, really I just did it while I also did other things.

Hackers Memory is probably my favorite of the 2 because the characters in Hudie are more likeable. Especially Erika and Chitose. But both are solid games and to be honest if you get the Platinum Digimon for training and find a good spot the grinding time goes by really quickly.

Erika for life, Keisuke is a better protagonist than aiba for sure, if you play it on pc you can play it at 1440p and 4k that makes the game super sharp.

i bought this game for my switch like 2 years ago and played it for about 20 hours and just could not get into. i decided to give it another try a week ago and i’m close to 80 hours at chapter 9 (i’ve been grinding and item hunting and stuff) now and OBSESSED. i think i chose the wrong starter digimon in my first attempt and it just made the pace/difficulty completely different from what i am experiencing in this playthrough. i enjoy games with grinding (the repetition is calming and just does it for me plus the reward after the work is worth it for me). there are a lot of great guides out there to help you through and the cyber sleuth subreddit is a treasure trove of information. platinumsukamon/numemon and some tactician usb’s help greatly with the tedium of grinding for those who get bored easily!

Yes, you can nickname everyone you put in your party. And it does have similarities to Pokemon so some things will be familiar. The ABI stat with evolutions is kind of like EVs and vitamins in Pokemon and a lot of the story battles are like Trainer Battles with NPCs using Digimon Teams against yours. The combat system just uses more skill aspects than just elemental weaknesses. Like piercing that ignores defense and a wider array of status ailment types. And all battles are group battles instead of 1v1.

I would say yes. I got this game instead of sword and shield and wasn't disappointed. I think you'll find the more mature storyline refreshing after the non-stories of the main series games.

@@Reviews2Go Long-time fan of the pokemon and digimon games here and i really gotta disagree with you guys there. First of, the pokemon games definetely require more skill, at least when it comes to PVP. Pokemon has evolved way beyond just elemental weaknesses.. there's weather, hazards, terrain, attack priority, buffs, debuffs, status inflictions, passive abilities, equipment... The first four of those are completely absent from digimon. Secondly, digimon does a bad job at telling you how strong you're supposed to be in an area. While in pokemon you can easily tell by looking at your own and your opponents level, Digimon never tells you the level of your opponent. As a result you'll often be either way too overleveled or underleveled for a boss fight. You won't notice beforehand, cause you'll usually only need 1 or 2 hits to defeat the random encounters on your way regardless. Third of all, 90% of all attacks in the cyber sleuth games are just recycled attacks of another element, meaning there's almost no variety. Fourth, a lot of boss fights won't actually be against Digimon, but so called Eaters. Basically their equivalent of an Ultra Beast, except you can't own them. And at last.. i've never seen any NPCs as annoying as the occult club except for Hop, Leon and Team Yell in Sword and Shield and Hau and Team Skull in Sun and Moon. Who the heck thought it was a good idea to put them in both games? The cyber sleuth games are definetely not good games to start your digimon journey with and i'd even call them mediocre at best, just like the Generation 7 and 8 pokemon games. Good games to start with are the Digimon World games for Nintendo DS or Digimon World Next Order on PS4 in my opinion

@@LS-gc8bj Unless you play in hard mode the difficulty curve is never an issue, these games aren't really hard. Even in boss fights. It's just that Pokemon is piss easy. As for the thing with attacks, this happens with Pokemon a lot too, and with shin megami tensei(a series that visibly influenced cyber sleuth) although to an admittedly smaller extent. And there's quite a lot of signature attacks in this game, which actually have a lot of variety. And yeah, Pokemon may be deeper in the PvP, but the single player is a joke compared to cyber sleuth even on easy mode. And that's because Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's memory were made mostly with single player in mind, with multiplayer being just a fun little addition. Not to mention that raising Digimon is far more fun and smooth than raising Pokemon due to the platinumnumemon/tactician USB exploit and the fact that Digimon cyber Sleuth doesn't withhold information about it's mechanics from you. I don't get your beef with the occult club either. I understand you may not like them, but they have very little presence in both games, unlike those other characters you mentioned and are meant for nothing more than comic relief and helping to advance the plot. Besides, no character in the cyber sleuth games, even the flimsy ones, is as infuriatingly badly written as chairman Rose

I liked the game. I do agree with what you said on this part 2:06 I really like how it all focuses on the human characters first and then the digimon. I like the way the evolution is presented in the game. I like how that there are certain requirements to evolve digimons and as well as the choices to chose from. I wished there was a feature that showed what digimon you evolved or de evolved. Overall its a good game. It may not be for everyone but it never hurts to try.

It is much more heavily instanced, it really doesn't attempt to create a sprawling open world feeling. That's one downside I can see. Maybe that and some of the walls of text are just silly long. Really long story segments and a lot of them are filler just needed to trigger the next daisy chain of events.

My biggest complaint about this game and I'm surprised you didn't mention it is that the in game dialogue can't be skipped. So much of the dialogue in this game is low quality that just drags on and on. Aside from that I enjoyed the game but the unstoppable dialogue made me want to never replay through the story again.

If you read no other comment, read this one: Yes, these games are well received, but the battle system is buried under massive amounts of narrative and dialogue, a lot of which doesn't even feel relevant to the main story. That is the TRUE grind. The narrative to battle ratio is about the opposite of what you'd expect, say, in a pokemon game. The battle system is also fairly convoluted and seems not quite polished with things being too op or not strong enough. You are also punished for not understanding the evolution system from the start once you want to get to mega - ABI may force you to grind as you won't be able to evolve into ANYTHING

On the battle system: I agree it seems pretty complicated. I assume I missed some aspect of it because it either seemed I won battles with no effort whatsoever or had extreme difficulty with them. I had a team of level 99 megas, and I was barely able to beat the game. With the amount of grinding I did, I would have breezed through most RPGs I've played. Again, this could just be me having missed something about how the system works, but I found it unusually challenging.

40 hours for both games? That’s cute. *[laughs in 200 hours on my file]* The battle system isn’t anywhere near as complicated as you think, either. Then again, this is coming from someone who played Digimon World Dusk (Digimon Story Moonlight in Japan) as a kid. If you’ve played any of the previous Digimon Story games, it’s extremely easy to jump into Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory. All I had to learn was the UI and other minor things. Apart from that, it was almost second nature to me. Though, even a friend of mine who was a total newcommer was able to grasp the gameplay just fine (she played Hacker’s Memory first, the tougher of the two imo). Battles can only seem hard if you’re not adequately prepared enough, or if your party composition is extremely bad for what you’re fighting (I.E. using a full team of Data digimon while trying to fight a Virus type, or not equipping your digimon properly to deal with statuses like Panic). In comparison to Digimon World Dusk and Dawn, the Cyber Sleuth games are far easier to get into imo.

@@97dusk 40 hours of play to reach both end games. This game really plays like ffXIII where you have this enormous linear dragged out gameplay and THEN you hit open world.

@@ddrguy3008 My first playthrough of Hacker's Memory alone was 70 hours, and it was around 60-70 during my first run of Cyber Sleuth. That's over 110 hours right there, not counting NG+ runs. How badly are you rushing through things if you're beating these games within 40 hours?

I remember I got this game when I was a kid and not like him very much because a certain digimons I wanted and level was kind of tedious I have the games for the PS4 and I just got to switch version today so I'm going to give it another shot

good review just a couple notes. 1. I don't think the stories are that strong in these games, especially the first game. The digital world actually isn't present at all except a very short chapter at the end and the main story doesn't even get going until over halfway through. Everything up until that is filler and most of the characters are just goofy. and 2. the grind isn't that bad at all. Yeah it's there but its nothing compared to the grind in digimon or most other turn based RPGs.

You can but only after you beat both games. Basically just for New Game Plus.

@@srzgaming2408 It's not really that tiring if you managed unlock every Digimons in Cyber Sleuth, you only need digivolve your favorite Digimon in Hacker Memories and digivolve few digimons that only available in Hacker Memories.
