One of my buttons snapped during a mod, my fumbling fingers attempted a solder and I think I fried the board. Is there any hope of recovery?

Odd question. The top button on my VB just broke. It still works, but the button itself is now incredibly sensitive (you only need to move a finger even barely onto it for it to respond) and doesn't even click/springback into place. Is there a reliable place for replacement buttons or a means of getting it unstuck? The issue appears to be the button seen at 17:39.

Someone on the Digitama Hatchery Discord found the part number awhile ago I think, but I don't have it off the top of my head. It requires some soldering skills and a bit of patience with small parts to replace, but I've done it a few times before. If you still have the button, there's a good chance you could just resolder it back on and reinforce it with some extra tin!

My DigiVice V's bottom button just recently stopped working properly and this video was really helpful to know what to look out for when opening it. It's still usable but it doesn't do the *click* anymore and it registers presses randomly. After opening it, I believe the button broke internally (probably due to overuse) since it wobbles up and down while the top button does not. Do you recommend just getting a new device, or would it be worth to look for someone who can fix it?

If you have soldering skills and can find a suitable replacement button (may take some time scouring Digikey or some other electronic parts warehouse) then you could potentially fix it cheap and easy. If it sounds like too much work or you can't solder then yea buying a new VB is your next best bet. Hope that helps!

What's a good screw driver set to do a tear down on the vb

Any small 00 Phillips head should be fine! Technically they use JP screws, but I just use an iFixit kit and it's been super useful

Do you know how to fix the sensor? Mine stopped working. I try to match vitals with my digimon but it says failed. The light for the sensor is a dim green

Unfortunately for failures like that I don't have a fix if the board is faulty. I've personally rewired a sensor back together, but the cabling was bad and my light was working fine before the damage was done

I've never found any online, sadly. Granted I haven't seen many buttons break and I haven't gone looking for them!

Just wondering about the sound quality of my digivice V. Fresh from the box the sound is loud, but after charging the sound become very small almost mute. Do you know what happen with the speaker? Does the speaker broken or it has anything to do with the soldering/ sound chamber?

Hard to say, but it's quite possible that the speaker itself is faulty or the wiring job was poorly done. The QC on these devices is pretty poor. Sorry friend :(

Do you mean use the V for the Vital Watch installation? I point out and demonstrate in this video that the original VB and the Digivice V are exactly the same internally, so yes

its inpossible to get these in canada. im watching breakdowns to understand the hardware so i can try and recreate. i can easily find roms online too, atleast for digimon dlc. the heart monitor makes making my own much more difficult. Thanks for making this video, it helped me so much!
