Yeah I know what you mean. Well, for now it's out of stock (at least for Europe) and I will have to wait more than a month for the restock anyways. Gives me more time to think haha ;) I think it clearly has limitations (monophony for example) BUT to me that's not a downside. This is a very special tool and I think it's often fun and leads to interesting results, when you have to work around limitations...

Just a week ago we had a wonderful event for musicians here in Moscow. Lot's of lectures, jams and discussions. There were few electronic gear shops representatives and they had few boxes from Elektron. Once you start talking about Elektron gear your conversation ends up at "Ÿou know that dude Cuckoo from youtube, right?" and the other says "That funny weirdo with a beard and mirror?". Keep on doing your thing! Your videos are appreciated all around the world.

Totally agree! The way I learned my Moog was to screw around with everything and start with blank patch no presets! The Elektron products are technically complex but so amazing well engineered for pros compared to the lower end toys.

does this have the same awkward paten management system as the mono-machine ? if i can load up a song like i do in renoise and save instruments and arrange patterns within the song then save it then i will definatly buy one. I RTFM 5.1 +DRIVE keeps up to 128 projects stored internally, and it also holds all saved sounds. The +Drive also contains the sample bank. All projects have access to these samples. 5.2.1 PROJECT A project contains 128 patterns. General settings and states are also stored in the project. When a project is loaded it becomes the active working state of the Digitakt. From here it is possible to edit the patterns and sounds of the project. Every time the Digitakt is switched on, it boots to the active working state, the active project. So i can load up a project set a side 16 patterns per song and have 8 songs per project for example if im not mistaken. so is the sample library then imported into the project? Sounds are stored in the +Drive Sound library. The +Drive Sound library holds up to 2048 sounds. You can use the SOUND MANAGER to manage sounds Ah so it looks like you have a global sample library that all projects have access to but any editing to said sample is saved in the project state thus making it non destructive sample editing. So best to not delete samples from the library then :)

If you sequence an external synth and run it through the Digitakt inputs, can you use CONTROL ALL on those midi tracks too?
@hvegel7 жыл бұрын
It accepts L+R, but sums all to mono? This bums me out. Can you load in stereo samples via USB? Wonder if a firmware update will allow for stereo channels? Maybe it's just the limitation of this bit of hardware? Otherwise, this is a brilliant bit of kit. Just so badly desire a stereo sampler, at this price/footprint. Lovely machine.
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's all mono sounds. But you can pan the sounds. The reverb and delay are stereo effects. I think when you're designing hardware, you think about all of the specs early on in the planning stage. I'm sure they did everything they could to keep the costs down this time.
@hvegel7 жыл бұрын
cuckoomusic thanks! And yes, I'm in agreement with you concerning the planning stages. This is a marvellous machine, and for what it costs. Of course there's always it's big brother, Octatrack for those that ::must:: squeeze our stereo samples inside a machine for mangling. Cheers mate!

Hi, unfortunately I can't find a video that talks about a very important thing like the Pattern Change in sync between Digitakt and Digitone ...
@MisterNiles7 жыл бұрын
Cuckoo - I am going to buy an Octatrack to use with my guitar loops and modular etc. I've heard that the workflow takes awhile to grok, and some people can't ever gel with it. In your opinion would the Digitakt be an easier entry into the Elektron workflow than the Octatrack? I'm going to eventually buy both, but if getting the Digitakt first will make the Octatrack easier to learn, I'll get it first. Thanks. I love your videos, you wonderful freak.
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! The Digitakt is certainly easier to get into, no question about it. But you will not be able to use it as a sampler looper, like you can with the Octatrack. I've got a tutorial for using the Octatrack as a looper here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ_FgmufmM2ga5Y It is a bit messy, but once you get everything in place, and understand it, it can be quite efficient.

Thanks. Btw- Your sound effects are getting way better and have more impact. I could feel that Digitakt impact my brain when you presented it mixed with your mouth based sound effects. :)

can you also trim/edit samples from the pool (not just the ones you sample by recorder)?
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
You can only edit and trim/ crop the samples permanently that are in the recording buffer, from what I understand. Samples that you load can be edited with the sound engine, but not trimmed permanently. You can also save patches with all the settings of the sound. You can also resample internally on the machine.

Love your videos. I was wondering if the Digitakt allows you to slice a sample into different slices and assign them to separate pads within the same track. Or is each track limited to one start/end point sample playback? Like if I chopped a drum break, would I be able to chop and sequence all the hits on one of the eight tracks, or am I limited to one hit per track? Thanks in advance :)
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
+casey krupp the Octatrack has 64 slices per sample. The Digitakt has no slices. But when you sample it, while it’s still in the recorder memory, you can slice it several times and save different slices as different files, and assign them to each pad. It essentially becomes multiple files. Another way is to use the same longer sample on many pads, and per pad/ track set the in out accordingly. But then you’re using up the tracks. You can also in the sequencer edit the in and out points manually per trig. Then copy and paste the trigs to move forward a little quicker. Although this can’t be performed in real-time you can still program the sequence this way as if it was slices.
@earphtone7 жыл бұрын
ahhhhh, ok. I'm familiar with the octatrack, and was wondering if the digitakt could slice like that.......darn, I wish it could. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. All your videos are the best. thanks again!

Christopher Ruiz - I'd still get OP-1 or OP-Z. This looks cool, but there's only one demo that gets me weak at the knees. This is nice but not the demo. The OP-1 is still super unique. this seems to surpass the Octatrack in terms of "playability". globally applying changes and taking a pattern to another place entirely really sounds great. ive learned a lot from your OT tutorials. the OT does Slices better, judging by what I see here. but do you think these two boxes are similar enough to say that for most users its a 50-50 split on which is right for them?
