Great tutorial!! I always have a hard time selecting the colors for light and shadow so I tend to use white and black a lot, but your tips of using complentary color or overlay blending more are great and definitely helpful!

this is going to sound ridiculous but i genuinely didn’t believe you were going to make this light work because i couldn’t imagine how important clipping mask was, but the moment you started adding the light my eyes began to tear up like i was watching something come to life

Draw an arrow towards your object and imagine light coming from there. Draw another arrow opposite to that arrow facing it, they’d where your shadows will be

Just study the world around you, everything in the room you are in right now has light hitting objects and shadows being cast. Just try to draw those things over and o ver and maybe move some lights around in your room to see how the light reacts and changes. You’ll get it!

Thank you very much! I'm trying to improve how I color, and you explained the blending modes quite clear to me. Some tutorials I found just direct you (like use multiply, use overlay, use blur, etc.), and never explained how they really work. I'm slow and learn faster by breaking down everything before I could get how they come together in the end. This has helped me a lot!
