🌟 The first 500 people to sign up via my link will get two FREE months of Skillshare Premium: skl.sh/nadiaxel - Last year I was a freelance artist. I used Skillshare to take classes on how to manage my work, conflict handling, payments and contracting. I honestly learned a lot from the teachers because they had so much experience in the field. Lately, I have used Skillshare to polish some more.... basic theory on. Once in a while, I feel like I can benefit from revisiting stuff I learned waaaaay back. Such as color theory, lighting, and character design. I hope you will enjoy your two months of free premium membership ♥ - Also, just in case you wonder why this video has an upload date from 6 days ago (since its publication), it has been sitting here waiting for it to be Friday when it could finally be released!

Nadiaxel what Skillshare classes would you recommend for artists that are just starting out? And which classes did you like the most/helped you the most?
@Nadiaxel5 жыл бұрын
@@nancydriessen594 I will list my favorites so far in a little list below ^^ They are for pretty various draeing topics but I feel like I learned a lot from them!! - "Painting Light and Shadow: The Basics for Portraits and Characters" by Gabrielle Brickey - "Character Illustration: Drawing Faces, Figures & Clothing" by Gabriel Picolo (his classes in generel) - "Design a Female Character: Sketching Portraits with Pencils" by Gabrielle Brickey (Gabrielle's classes in generel) - "Watercolor Mixing, Finding Your Color Identity" by Ana Victoria Calderón I'm not sure if they are perfect for beginners but I found them really good ^^ I also watched a bunch of freelance work stuff but I think they are more irrelevant to your requested topic ;w;

At the beginning of every sketch I thought remarking the eyelids would make the character look older but you found a way of making it look natural and I love it. Great job, Nadia
@Nadiaxel5 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! When I started out, it actually happened like you explained it and it was very frustrating. The persons I drew looked old. One of the things I started doing was coloring the lineart of the lids so they seem less dominant. Next I started to paintnthen over completely in some cases and I think that works out as well ^^ (aaaa I hope that made any sense) ❤️
@lourdesramos33725 жыл бұрын

I need this. I spent a looong time drawing a reference, trying so hard to make it look identical that it ended up not really looking .... “right”. I’m very uncomfortable drawing from a reference in more “loose” or stylized way. I’m always trying to replicate it, stressing out myself in the process. Thanks for amazing tips!

This video is great. The more cartoonish style is something I have yet to achieve. Simplification is a way too underrated skill, all you want to do when you start is to make things as intrincate an complex as possible. Then, further down the road, you wish to go back to simple and it has been impossible for me.
