Your comments about Macha got me curious about her, so I did some digging and AFAIK the bird thing is because she's commonly believed to be a member of the Morrigan, which is a Celtic war goddess who's often depicted as a crow flying above battlefields and is sometimes depicted as a trio of gods rather than just one. Also fun fact, the only SMT game where she isn't a bird is Majin Tensei II: Spiral Nemesis.

(I believe the "Famed" race that Jeanne D'arc is from is one of those, in one game. Looking up... yep. I would like to note about the "random" negative level up effects in Nocturne. While yes there are chances to get negative statuses during Level Ups. That's when you have certain Magatamas equipped. The Nocturne Guide Book goes into detail on what Magatamas have good effects. Which have bad effects, and if there's both and the chances for either one

Oh hey, I'm actually familiar with Camazotz. I was working on a small Persona game concept a long while ago, I think it was during your P5R playthrough, and one of ideas I had was the mascot character being a bat, and I ended up giving them Camazotz as their base Persona. Didn't expect to talk about that today. 7:55 It says it was an ambush, but that demon just got gunned down. 15:46 Considering how much of this game revolves around eating people…um… 23:28 …That’s a thing? Dear lord, Nocturne… 31:40 I do know there’s a Yugioh card called Ushi Oni, as well as an Anime exclusive card known as Giant Ushi Oni that also has a Spider Body. I like this design a bit more, though.

That's cool. It's interesting drawing on mythologies that aren't often respected in Persona. As long as they're treated respectfully. 23:28 The weird part is, Nocturne Hard Mode is kinda the default difficulty (in that it's got 1x damage multipliers), Normal Mode is secretly an easy mode. Oh, Hard also TRIPLES shop and Compendium prices. (Thankfully, you can just turn the difficulty down to Normal before you enter shops)

They're not totally consistent with that when it comes to minibosses, but main bosses generally don't give AP.

0:41- It's called "Avoiding another no-fusion accident incident and needing to wait until the very last video to show off a common feature." Xp 6:51- 96 is such a random number for that. If it was 95% it would feel more natural, but 96% is weird. 15:27- Correct. It's Momunofu in Nocturne who evolves and gets to become Arabahki who's really good in Nocturne for some fights (plus Momunofu being a "wild" demon instead of one you need to fuse means it's very easy to patch in a lot of good skills via Mitamas and evolve them so Arabahki also gets those really good skills. Other demons like that, such as Koppa Tengu, are really good because of that ease of slotting in skills for their later evolutions). This guy... Only thing I remember being relevant for them is Nocturne is being some of the prick guards for the Mantra (not to be confused with the Mantra system in this game). 15:46- lmao 16:54- "... also, I like to call this Demonic Pacman." BigKlingy 2024. 18:01- Huh... Was this the first game that made Mitama into Metal Slime Enemies for SMT? 18:02- Also MAN it would suck being a Metal Slime enemy in this universe since it just puts A LOT more targets on your back when there were a lot already. 22:40- At the very least, it gives more reason for a skill like that here than in Nocturne when those skills were heavily outclassed by the more guaranteed instant death methods. 23:34- Well, can't run away without a Smoke Ball or that one skill that does the same thing. 31:31- Ah, there's the more brutal moments I was waiting for in this game. 37:58- Just kind of realized, but the cells do feel like a prototype of sorts for Relic selling in SMT4/IVA/5 as another way to get a lot of money. Or at the very least, created a lot more items in SMT more so meant for selling that the latter games would pick up on. 38:44- Dang, this early for it? Sure it's 5K, but man did they decide to put the analyze skill into unemployment faster than they did in Nocturne. 41:14- Wait, did they change Taunt from Nocturne? If they didn't, then he should still be at +1 Atk instead since Taunt raises the enemy's atk by two stages to balance out that massive defense drop. 41:27- NOT AGAIN! *Beast Eye/Dragon Eye Trauma intensifies* 45:45- ... So... Is now a bad time [EDIT: Auto correct tried to be evil and initially made that a “bat time.”] that I just realized that Bat kind of looks like a knock-off version of a KISS member? Xp In other news, not much as I've been busy (and will be again soon), but I made more progress in TTYD. And by progress I mean UTTERLY decimated the last boss I faced since I remembered one of the more broken things I could do can cause said boss to go from 44HP to only 5 after set up for one attack. Poor prick. But anyway, with that done, Chapter 6 is sorted out. At this rate, I'll probably be able to finish this game either by this week or the start of next week. My main concern will be if I'll go for 100% completion as getting all of the badges is quite taxing (just dropped most money from one "pay off" for something earlier on some badges that I was missing) and recipe completion also sounds annoying since I haven't felt the need to cook as much compared to 64, so I'm only at 14/58 recipes at the moment.

Not being a multiple of 5 is very strange. I guess that is another reason to like Arahabaki since he still one of my favourites despite me not playing Nocturne. People really want to eat people's behinds in this place. It also reminds me of the minigames in Nocturne as well. That it would given the large amount of AP they give. It somewhat reminds me of how Hama skills work in Persona 1 where it does a percentage of damage as well but also does damage over time equal to the amount of damage. If I remembering this correctly, if an enemy is weak to light, Hama skills deal half their health so the damage over time kills them the next turn but also if the enemy is a Grave demon, Hama instantly kills them. Mudo skills work like this but are dark based and if the enemy is a Divine demon, they get instantly killed by Mudo. That thing was a surprisingly strong for a mini boss. Free analysing this early is quite nice. I feel like it does give +2 attack since that is what it does in most of its appearances. Hopefully no random encounters can get their hands on that skill. Good work beating Chapter 6 as well as destroying the boss with probably a damage stack strategy. You bet we are probably going to do something similar when we get to that point. Once again, good luck with preparing for Chapter 7 as well. As for myself, it wasn't a very good day since my headset I used for recording makes a weird buzzing sound now so time to get a new one now but hopefully this means a nicer sounding Rohan when I get back to recording. My brother was busy all day so no progress on TTYD either but I did make some progress with Gran Turismo 4 as I reach 69% now. The problem was the event we had to do today was the Speedster Trophy, which is a one make event for the Opel Speedster. This event is like the 206 Cup from yesterday, only even harder as the opponents use Opel Speedsters that are upgraded beyond what is humanly possible. You pretty much always get 200 A spec points when doing this event. As you probably expect, this event gave me a lot of problems although the first two races were pretty easy. It was the third event at Suzuka East and the fourth event as Sonoma that were the problems as the AI rarely makes mistakes on these tracks and both have a high speed corner that they are much faster on not the mention AI being pricks to me as well. I managed to beat the Suzuka East event after finding a better setup for my own Speedster as well as buying Level 1 weight reduction but the race at Sonoma needed the stars to align for me to win until I decided to bite the bullet and buy some Racing Medium tyres instead of the Racing Hard tyres I was using before and the better grip was what led to my victory and both of these events took many attempts to beat. With the higher grip tyres, the final race at Seattle was pretty easy to win as well. My reward for the blood, sweat and tears I shed during this event is an Opel Calibra Touring Car which is pretty cool. Now only three one make events are left but none of them are as painful as the Speedster Trophy so that is good at least but I think I am also going to prepare for some more endurance races as well.

Although I'm not sure if the guys who mistook for Momunofu are actual encounters until the *second change* in the place happens late game since I only remember them as the guards to one area of the world map and the one jerk who calls a certain place slums after what the group did to it.

@@BerserkerRohan Yeah Arahabaki is quite good in Nocturne, albeit a harder demon to use (it has a lot of elemental weaknesses, but nulls physical, light, and dark while naturally repelling ice too. If you know how use it correctly, it does really well, but you need to find the right fights it can break). ... Wait, Heat's line can be used literally too... I blame the voices from the last video for giving him ideas. I can see that, although the mini game here looks a lot more fun given... *Cue Demifiend constantly crashing into orbs and Puzzle Boy trauma intensifies* All of that... That's interesting how P1 Hama works with the Damage overtime thing. Kind of reminds me how Bleed in Monster Sanctuary works (the bleed damage amount is based on the accrued critical hit damage that happens when the bleed is applied). Also like Hama and Mudo's interactions with those specific demons too and how one opposite instantly slays the other and vice versa. It has to give the +2, otherwise it would be utterly broken with that Klingy was doing it Taunt followed by a Tarunda. I REALLY hope DDS isn't that vile with Beast/Dragon Eye and keep it to bosses like you said. Thanks. Also yeah, if I could easily set up that strategy, then you two will be able to do it as well (and probably slightly optimize it better so it just outright kills the boss at full HP). As for Chapter 7, did all the troubles before it, so I will be in Chapter 7 proper soon enough. Sorry to hear about the headsets and I hope the new ones come in swiftly. Ah, so that's why the Speedster Trophy is so infamous; The game's a cheating b^^^ard for it. Now that I say that out loud, in hindsight I should have realized that since I noticed a lot of racing games have large amounts of cheating when one of their more infamous races happen (though that's usually in the form of extreme rubber banding). And not helping is its AI also putting good use to the illegally modified cars via knowing how to use it well. At the very least with some trial & error plus those better trip tires, you actually won that event. Great work and hopefully the Opel Calibra will be useful to help give compensation for the hell you went though. Good luck with the Endurance Races and hopefully you have something else on the side to help keep fill the gap with how long they take.

@@jaredfayette2567 I have seen it used in a lot of challenge runs due to those good resistances. That is probably the case. They are pretty decent skills although due to their damage over time, they don't work against bosses which is one of the their main drawbacks. It should given most games make it give +2 around this time. From what I remember of DDS, I think that should be the case with Rage. Without using danger strats, I doubt I could optimize it better but knowing my brother, maybe he can find a way. Just as I am writing this, they have arrived so I better test them later. Part of my suffering was me being stubborn and not thinking I needed the Racing Medium but after those first two races, I thought I had it in the bag with the Racing Hards. At least it is over but there is still plenty of challenging things left with the rest of the license tests and the later mission races. Most likely, I am going to do the El Capitan 200 miles next which is another roughly 2 hour endurance so once again, it is on the short end for endurances but I do need a good car for it which I will prepare for next time.

Quick things about field hunts, field hunts only expire if you finish them and encounter the mitama at the end. If you don't you can hop out of the area and try them again immediately. Secondly, ALL field hunt areas get disabled for 5 solar cycles after successfully completing one. They are not efficient AP farms in late game lmao

Which gives it 4 games, 3 if Royal is just counted as Persona 5, In fact looking it up Persona 5 would have been Black Ooze first appearance in 8 years. And Morrigan has a strong connection with crows. The sword part would still be a ??? tho, I got nothing for that

I always like to see some latin American mythos showing up, be it mayan, inca or even the rarer stuf like marajoara (one of the supossed inspirations for majoras mask) or tupi-guarani. Overall the they tend to have a very unique way of portraying the world, but a lack of resources make them some of the less referenced ones sadly. Só every crumb is welcome

40:44, don’t know if anyone here is a fan of the monsterverse Godzilla series, but fun fact, one of the kaiju in it is called Camaztoz, and he’s a giant bat Kaiju with a horn on his head. In fact, every Kaiju in the monsterverse aside from the toho kaiju are based on different mythologies around the world. Camaztoz doesn’t appear in the movies himself, but he did appear in the comic kingdom kong, which is a prequel to Godzilla vs Kong. He’s actually the reason why the storm on skull island eventually covered it in storms. One last thing, in case your wondering, Kaiju is Japanese for strange beast, but people who love this stuff referred Kaiju as giant creatures. I know this has nothing to do with the game, I’m just a huge Kaiju fan, and I just wanted to point out a nerdy fun fact.

Macha is weird. Because I swear every game wiki that has Macha says something different. Like for example. The .Hack wiki says Macha is a war god of Celtic origin that had brothers or sisters. While SMT wiki says they are an Irish Celtic god. Another wiki I can’t find said that Macha was a god of something else. I think harvest. Which is strange. Though I do see a lot of games depict Macha as cat like. Really Macha is very unknown So my first time playing this Gyu ki missed all their attacks. So I was so confused about the infamy. My second play through definitely set me right on how much of a bitch he is

That's why I take everything with a grain of salt, it's probably due to the only documentation of these myths being post-Christianity, which had a vested interest in downplaying the divinity of a lot of these figures. Well that was lucky. It's always funny when enemies miss a lot in SMT.

Fate/ is funny for how much it has this as its rep, since it's generally done to create more balanced gender ensembles-- and a few of them are actually somewhat grounded (for instance Sanzang from Journey to the West is also portrayed as female in Warriors Orochi and there's at least one RPG adaption of Journey to the West out there that has them as a player character with a selectable gender-- while one of them from more recent years, Kenshin Uesugi, has rumors dating back to his life of having actually been a woman and as often as not is portrayed very androgynously in media).

For Nobunaga she appeared in a Type Moon parody manga called Koha Ace in 2012 (which is still ongoing) which had a one off special called Fate/Koha Ace which is a parody of a fate holy grail war with Japanese servants. At some point someone decided to make serious version of that one off special called Fate/Redline which has the serious version of Nobu. In F/GO despite having a serious art style, she's the same as her gag counter part.

@@StriderBlade7711 Well it depends on "tone" in story. Starting with Gudaguda 2 there is two modes. "Main Story" where while does have some goofs but it usually has a pretty serious story. The other is "post main story" and that's where most of the goofs come from. Also while Fate/Koha Ace IS a parody apparently those who read it says it was pretty serious.

Oh my god is that a giant bat Curse is a fascinating status ailment, forcing recoil on your foe in a JRPG is pretty cool. I may have killed a Phantom Mage with it once (at the cost of everyone's life except Yukari's) Lol Divine Judgement WISHES it could be nearly as useful as DDS Hama. You know suddenly hearing that the bat's name is literally Bat makes him so much lamer.

Curse has an interesting hidden effect in this game too: it makes you weak to Mudo skills. (But Curse is itself considered a Death effect, so it's harder to inflict on stuff that already resists Mudo) I just... WHY do the halving HP skills in P5/4 (oh right they were in P4, they're just THAT rare) exist?
