Collecting these ducks in lumo is optional and gives you only an achievement. With good timing and a little bit of training you can manage to jump off the ducks heads by pressing the button again right at the landing. Some of them are hard to get, cause the platforms you came with move or disappear after you step on them, but in general it's pretty manageable to get them all.
@GazzJ827 жыл бұрын
Rare were known as "Ultimate Play the Game" in the ZX Spectrum days or "Ashby Computers and Graphics" (ACG), notice the boxes in some rooms have ACG Ltd on the boxes. There are tons of other spectrum Isometric nods in this game too.

Sonic Mania being "digital only" is an absolute travesty!
@GameSack7 жыл бұрын
Yeah but it has plenty of physical trinkets and whatnot for the collector's edition. Is it that easy to make toys and books and stuff but not a game disc?
@B33FY20117 жыл бұрын
Brandon Pierce Sonic Mania will follow the path of all supposed digital only releases and eventually if it sells good enough which I think it will sell quite well then it will end up getting a physical release. Whether or not it will be a limited run of copies is to be seen but going by how most of the digital only physical copies have been limited runs I'd be very surprised if Sonic Mania wasn't the same.

Tips for the ducks in Lumo.......... All of the ducks are hidden in plain sight, and can be collected from the start. As the ducks are floating in deadly water, you must jump onto a duck and immediately off it to safety to pick it up. Pro tip: hold the jump.button down BEFORE landing on a duck to immediately bounce off it, with not fear of mistimed button presses! This also works for the various bubbles you have to bounce across in the game. The duck is 'safe' and classed as collected when you exit the screen by any means after picking it up. Usually his means just heading for the nearest door! As you play through the game you'll see the bright yellow ducks everywhere - although a collectible, they're not hidden unlike the cassette tapes.

Yea thats been a complaint amongst many since there is a limited supply people buy the game as soon as its out leading to them always being sold out like in about 10 munites or so. And it the fact that it can be 2 per customer is just not right as scalpers can use this to their advangtage.
@Night-Jester7 жыл бұрын
These comments are golden :) Agreed
@TornadoCreator7 жыл бұрын
It's all part of their business model. They have to make sure they make a profit. These small releases have to sell out in their entirety for them to make money because of the way these games maintain value. If there wasn't a small print run, the games wouldn't have collector value and there wouldn't be any reason to choose it over the digital version for most people. That said, these guys clearly love gaming and it's nice to have people who love gaming publishing games for a change I think. Remember it's not about denying people games just to be dicks. They have to gauge interest and plan out these sales (and considering they're a small group of about 6 people, that's not a bad system they've got). The way they get licencing is by ensuring a sell out release to the game developers. Sure, I'd like them to be more readily available as I've missed a few of their games, (while some others I intentionally missed because I wasn't interested in the game). But the ones I did get have been well done, and I can't complain really. They're exactly what I wanted at a decent price. Don't blame Limited Run for scalpers. Scalpers are horrible people who ruin loads of hobbies. LR try their best to limit it, while allowing just enough for people to buy the game and enjoy it. I can buy two which let's me buy one for myself and another as a gift for someone at birthdays/Christmas which is nice, but the limit means people can't buy the lot and monopolise eBay with them (which LR try to monitor and refuse to sell to people who they know are doing that). I think they're doing their best and I respect their business practice. It feels very genuine and reasonable, and I wish them a long and prosperous future.
@coldshadow34807 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Joe, LRG's business model seems anti-consumer. Normally I would be able to go and buy games months and even years after their first release, but can't do that with LRG unless you want to pay a scalper. Mondo Posters uses the same method as well and bots usually end up buying all the posters within the first 30 seconds before I can even checkout.

I appreciate you guys speaking out about how Limited-Run games is basically a reseller frenzy and people who work for a living sometimes cannot just drop what they're doing to rush out and order something that sells out quickly. I really wish more KZbin channels used their influence to address issues in the collecting or hobbyist communities.
@JTMaster7 жыл бұрын
James Osborne Well they DO make it available at 2 points of the day. One wave in the morning, and one in the evening. Both are 8 hours apart. If you cant find the time during any of those to order then that is just a personal problem for you. Some of their games have even been available for a whole day to purchase
@brigannd7 жыл бұрын
That's still very anti-consumer, they sell out almost in 10 minutes in those two windows. Ray Giant is a great example, they try to play damage control and say "less than 1% end up on eBay" but literally a few hours later you have them tweet out to someone who said they couldn't buy it and had to resort to eBay. I think winning consumers over by supplying a healthy amount of product that will eventually sell is better than losing a sale to an eBay resller for double. Screw how limited it is, I want a chance to buy it and not have to drop what I'm doing and jump through hoops to throw money at them.
@JTMaster7 жыл бұрын
The problem also is that they can only afford to print so many copies. They are still a small company ran by a few guys. They HAVE progressively making more and more copies available for each release. Their first release was one of their own games and it was only 1500 copies. Also some of their games have been available for almost a whole day before.
@brigannd7 жыл бұрын
I could care less what it costs them, they run a business, that's on them, not me. If they can't meet the demand and have anti-consumer practices, it's not a product for me, I'll gladly go buy a digital version that costs me $5, I lose nothing in this scenario. If they want my money and other people's money they need to really up their production numbers, otherwise they'll go ignored, it's not that hard. It's a neat idea with poor execution.
@JTMaster7 жыл бұрын
Ok sure hey go produce 30,000 copies of of a game which will cost you $150,000 and do so with only a $70,000 budget. Not really a feasable thing to do. Another reason to keep production numbers low is because if they print way too many and all the extra copies dont sell, then they lose out on a lot of money from producing too many copies

Logan Jorgensen The reason being that not only do they pay the developers most of the profit but also they pay all of the production costs to make the physical games. Since they are a small company with a small budget, they can only afford doing so many. And they cant do pre-orders cause they said every time they have tried it has caused A LOT of problems.

I just bought Xeodrifter after seeing this episode. I think you misunderstood the weapon system. All the weapon effects stack on each other. So, a fully powered wave beam just makes your shot more wavey. For faster shots, add points to the first weapon type. Adding points to the second one will increase the damage of each shot. The third one increases the firing rate. The fourth one makes your gun have a bit of a scatter effect, shooting a little up or down each time. You can mix and match to create the weapon type you like the best. Basically, think of all the weapons as just one weapon that you're tweaking but by bit instead of as five separate guns.
@raydenlord7 жыл бұрын
For example: Add 3 points to wave, 2 points to power, and 2 points to speed, and you'll have a faster, more powerful wave gun.

I'm not the biggest fan of digital downloads, because, as you have mentioned - you've got to be connected to the internet to play and DRM servers can be overloaded or offline or even support for your game may be eventually dropped, but here's a rare exception to all this. I've bought Shantae and the Pirate's Curse from Good Old Games, and since they don't use DRM at all, I can just keep the installation package on my hard drive, USB drive, or even burn myself a nice physical DVD, complete with majestic artwork, all drawn with a marker by me!

Wow, that Shantae game looks great. I'm a huge Wonderboy fan and this looks like a huge love letter to that series.

I finally got Ori and the Blind Forest when it went for sale in Steam recently, using the money for several lunches. One of the best gaming decisions ever. Funnily, the reason I even got the game is because I remembered this episode and Joe liking the game a lot. Crazy how this episode is 1 year old, it seems like only 2 months ago xD I don't have a gaming console yet, but I hope to someday, so that I can buy that game again

Resogun is a game which should have a physical release, amazing shooter. For the best experience you need the DLC with the survival mode, ive lost so many hours trying to beat my high score. I hope you guys cover it one day as I feel lots of people haven't tried it.

Lumo looks like an updated version of that old game, Solstice.

Games that got a physical release that you should try out? OWLBOY!! Owlboy is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. It's PC only, but the PC version actually got a physical release close to launch via Indiebox, and it's really nice! Comes with a soundtrack CD (which you definitely want, because that game's soundtrack is exceptional) and a full-color manual with cute little quips from one of the game's characters on the bottom of every single page. And like I said, the game itself is ridiculously good. One of the best indie titles I've ever played. I keep joking with my coworkers that I bought both Owlboy and Final Fantasy XV very near one another, and I quickly realized that Owlboy has the better story and characters -- which it really does. It's very dark and surprisingly serious, with a lot of really intense, almost cinematic moments to it that are enhanced by beautifully timed orchestra hits and such from the soundtrack. Absolutely stellar game.

Wyrdwad more surprised that game hasn't gotten a console edition by now (digital or physical).

No kidding! I'd snatch up a console release of Owlboy in a second. I can't stress enough how much I loved that game.

Yeah but these guys exist in a parallel universe where there are no PC games. I mean why else would they never ever mention a platform with more games than any other? WHY?!

completely agree about limited run and how this sometimes hurts the gaming community more than it helps!

"Seasons and videogames make no sense!" Indeed, I'm an old school gamer and i hate all that stuff of keep buying stages and chars and even game modes, i always wait for the complete edition of the game that i want, no matter if it's digital or not, i just need the entire game

I recently got a physical copy of Hyper Light Drifter on PS4. That one is limited to 9,000 copies.

Ah yes, Shantae and the Pirates Curse. I literally got up early in the morning to get me a copy. Sure I already had it digitally on the Wii U, but there's just something about being able to hold your games.

Stardew Valley got a physical release recently and comes with a mini guide and a map, not sure of any other indie digital titles getting a physical release soon though. Currently waiting to start playing the Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake, just less than 48 hours to go. Hope it's worth it

Man physical copies are awesome. Even more so when its a game that was released digital first like blood dragon. Not to mention they help make your game collection look even nicer.

Toy Soldiers War Chest. I enjoyed the first 2 Toy Soldiers games which were download only, then I bought the third one from the xbox marketplace for $30. Later that week I saw it on the shelf at Walmart for $20. I didn't think there was a physical release, so I say damn!

It's really cool that a lot of digital indie games are getting physical releases on the PS4. They're just nice to own if you're a collector and they're usually pretty cheap. People are re-selling the Limited Run games on Ebay for over £100 though so y'know, fuck that noise.
@jakublulek32617 жыл бұрын
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse was released on cartridge/disc? I didn't know that, mainly because physical versions weren't released in continental Europe, because apparently are still '90s and regional differences are still a thing. 3DS version weirdly is for me superior, smaller screen works really good with pixel graphics and game itself is still very true to it's GameBoy roots.

I absolutely love the Shantae series and I'm glad that Limited Run released a physical copies. I do agree though that it's a shame they are released in such limited quantities. I was lucky enough to get Pirate's Curse but missed out on Risky's Revenge and it's really a shame, especially with the ebay prices right now.

Lumo looks like a modern take on older ZX Spectrum games like Batman or Pentagram. Anyway, I think the Nintendo Switch would be a great place for a physical version of a Rusty Lake collection. Rusty Lake make the Cube Escape series which are a bunch of weird, kinda morbid puzzle adventure game...well, puzzle escape-the-room games but they're really charming despite being morbid. Recent Cube Escape games would include Roots and The Cave but this is a pretty huge system on Android and iOS.

Awesome video guys! A digital game that got a physical release that i recently got is Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. Some that i want that fortunately eventually got a physical release are Asterbreed, Hyperlight Drifter and Slain. I hope Axiom Verge eventually gets one too.
