Artificial Intelligence is the coming revolution. How are we to navigate the massive quantity of data now being digitised?
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a pioneer in the field of Digital Humanities. Benjamin Lee will discuss images, including photos. He launched the Newspaper Navigator project while Innovator in Residence at the Library of Congress. He will discuss what the technology does, and how it works; how we can navigate and search the vast repositories of information. In particular, he will discuss the visual culture within over 15,000 pages of Ladino newspapers, including La Vara, El Tiempo, and La Boz de Oriente.
Benjamin Charles Germain Lee is an incoming Assistant Professor in the Information School at the University of Washington. He is currently a Kluge Fellow in Digital Studies at the Library of Congress. Ben received his PhD in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Washington. He served as the inaugural Digital Humanities Associate Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, as well as a Visiting Fellow in Harvard’s History Department.
