The smoothing tip!! Thank you so much! I am currently doing a digital painting course and my line art has been so jittery for weeks, I actually already gave up on trying to fix it until I saw this... turns out my smoothing setting was always at like 10% 😑It looks so smooth now! You made my day! 💕

[and don't be afraid to "overdraw" aka make a line too long and then erase the tail where it crosses another line, so that the part you keep is from a smooth broad stroke (works way better than trying to jerkily meet up exactly with another line sometimes) - which of course you already do, but adding it for others who might not have caught that lol] 🖍&Love the sweatshirt haha!

What I like as much about your tutorials is that you're left handed...It's good to see a lefty drawing lines and rotating the canvas in the same direction i would.

All great tips! Thanks. Another good tip (in my opinion anyway): DRAW THROUGH. Don't worry about stopping your line exactly where it needs to end. Get a nice smooth line and then erase what you don't need. It actually looks like Lulu does this with the arm lines and the sleeve.
@lulusketches6 жыл бұрын
Marcus Mattingly oh yes definitely! I either erase the edge off or I just lasso where I want the line to be then draw a long line through it!

Mahalo! I’m new here and your tutorials are so helpful. I’ve been waiting a long time for actual practical tips that are so helpful in digital art. I get so confused with the brush settings. I hope your shoulder is better. Posture is so important.
@PixelationGirl6 жыл бұрын
I'm not a big fan of doing lineart but I really loved this tips I need to apply them, I usually just paint and paint to a certain point when I feel the drawing needs an edge, and then over the whole painting I draw the lines xD but whenever I do the lineart first I feel so restricted by it when painting that I felt it was a good idea to leave it for the end. Still I love your drawings, they are so cute and perfect!! I wish I could do them like that!!!

Hey Laura! You've talked a little about positioning with the cintiq, and arm strain. I'd love to see your workspace and how you work on it! I'm curious about how you work with the cintiq, what angle do you use? Also posture, where do you place the keyboard, desk height and more. I've been struggling to find the best positon for drawing with it, and each one has some minuses. Thanks! :)
@lulusketches6 жыл бұрын
hi! you can see what my setup looks like on this video at 2:22: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2SQkGuFoNRgjaM so as you might be able to tell I keep my cintiq pretty upright but still tilted back a bit! it's difficult for me with my keyboard because I'm left handed, so I have to use all the shortcuts (which are almost all on the left side of the keyboard) with my right hand, so I have to cross my hand under to hit shortcuts or I completely move my keyboard over to the right side of my cintiq! for desk height, I like to keep my desk higher than the average desk :) most importantly I think is what chair you're using! I invested in a Herman Miller Aeron chair for home because it's what I use at work and I really enjoy it. they are expensive though, I was lucky to find one on craigslist for cheap! it keeps my back well supported and it's super adjustable. I hope this is helpful! :)

Hey! Enjoying your videos! I'm trying to figure out where I can learn how to adjust small things within something I've drawn (resize/move over like the angle of a foot for example without impacting the rest of the drawing) and everything on youtube that I watch keeps avoiding that! Any tips for what to search for or if you have any vids that talk about it? This is one of the things that appeals to me most about digital drawing and I just want to make sure I understand how it works before I take the next steps. Also, I'm trying to figure out how it differs in things like a screen drawing tablet vs an iPad so I know which I wanna buy! Any advice so deeply appreciated. Thanks!
@tomassoejakto2 жыл бұрын
4:21 Some angles are just hard to attack because our hand has muscle memory and preference, kinda like a brain of its own. You can practice 'out of it' and be able to make good strokes in all directions but that'll take a long time and holding the rotate button is quick and painless.

I don't think 300dpi is required. You just need to give your image a large pixel resolution when you're starting, like, say, 4000 pixels width and height. The picture only looks pixelated, to me at least, when I zoom in more than 100%. Other than that, very nice tutorial!
