HAUNTED by Coki Mala fades a tune out, and "Haunted" begins. The whole crowd are going nuts. You have grown-ass men jumping up and hugging each other. Pull it up. Drop it again. Someone from behind the decks walks up and stops it. Sgt Pokes is on the mic. Mala drops it a third time and, before the drop, Benny Ill reaches over the decks from the crowd and kills it. The crowd are screaming. Coki isn't even at the decks. He's in the corner smoking up, watching the mayhem that he's creating from a tune that he'd made a week or two before. We let the crowd noise die, Mala puts the needle down and Skream walks up and stops it - four pull-ups now. Only on the fifth time did it actually get played out.

+A BigRedBall and that is part of the dubstep magic, you dicover shitty quality tunes over the internet, then if you want better sound either you buy vinyls either you go to a dubstep night on a proper system. can do also both :p
@ZacksScraps8 жыл бұрын
Oh there are better quality rips of this and Anti War Dub on youtube. Hell, I heard Mala play the latter in person when he came to Australia in January. But good luck finding a copy of the worlds most sort after dub for under $150. PS: Discogs has 3 listed for sale atm. Though it is April fools so be wary.

wow. I read a magazine on making beats and it said that these guys/this guy was one of the djs that created dubstep. I didn't know what I would be in for when I decided to check out his/their music, but, I'm sure not disappointed. amazing work. I do enjoy what dubstep has evolved into today (except for the mainstream shit), but to think that this was the original type of dubstep.... wow. I do wish there were more DJs mixing in this style today.

@SmashSpencer Thanks for your opinion and the civil tone of it. You don't see a lot of that here on KZbin. Most people seem to think the comment box is only for praise, and not for critique (positive or negative). And of course those people aren't interested in someone having a negative opinion. They tend to get enraged and start with the name-calling and cussing. Thanks again.

Dubstep is primarily dance music, and therefore adheres to the 16 bar structure that a track needs to have to be useful to a DJ. To answer your question more directly, the art and creativity of dubstep is not as heavily invested in melody as is the case with most popular music, a lot of the creativity is in the structural and textural developments of a tune. Distance's LPs 'My Demons' and 'Repercussions' illustrate this point really well, I'd recommend you check them out, they're great!
