I'm a CB talker and I really like the analog meters on my radios much better than the digital meters that really don't have that response of analog meters but this is really cool and I would love to have this modified into a radio. This is the 1122 Wingnut radio standing by channel 38 lower sideband frequency 27.385

line in and out so it can be plugged in in-line with audio equipment would make it more practical. i would also love to see you send one to techmoan and get his impression of it.

Very nice, congratulations! I did some analog STEREO simulation on 2 different OLEDs, with a round shape scale, but had difficulties with the damping. Your loox cool, will learn for your code. Thanks. Looking forward to your upgrades!

I thought about your point about how the needle doesn't behave 1-1 with the audio in most digital VU meters that mimic needles. It's just come to my mind that I can go the other way. Using a laser galvo and half bridge rectifying the signal input I could make a needle move just about as fast and pretty close to 1-1. That would be something to collaborate on :P

Looks fantastic, really nicely done!

You did a great project, it's not PID controlled though, I think you meant that the input signal is low pass filtered? PID control requires a sensor on the output of the system to feedback and subtract from the input signal.
@sjm430610 ай бұрын
Pid just means there's proportional, integral and differential terms in a difference equation to calculate a next step action. Closing the loop to make a pid compensator of course requires feedback but the term pid itself doesn't necessarily only refer to compensation. I agree though that I didn't make a closed loop control system, it's just a simulated damped system that reacts like a mass and spring setup.

Yeah, so it's a low pass filter applied to the input signal. @@sjm4306

The big one is a 2.42" 128x64 SSD1309. Last I checked they are around $20 on ebay. Here's a search for them: ebay.us/YyRTNq

I made a pcb and got as far as soldering it and started testing before I had to pack everything up to move to a new house and ... I honestly have no idea which box it's in right now as I haven't had the time to unpack everything lol. I'll definitely do an update video once I find it.

The code linked in the project page is the exact code I demo'd in the video. If it's not working properly for you there's some other issue.

Hi! Could you please tell me how to put a signal into pin A0 so the needle works?

It's an analog input so literally takes any voltage from 0 to 5v.

Thanks for asking, I haven't had time to properly finish this project so it currently doesn't work with line level audio signals. When I get the time I'll add the necessary analog front end circuitry and post an update video.
