Pioneer XDJ-1000 Talkthrough & Review

I got me a pair and I love them! I feel Pioneer cleaned up the CDJ's and just left the essentials on the hardware and everything else on the touch screen which I think it's brilliant. Love these babies! :)

Thank you for this concise review. i just ordered a pair of these, not the mk2 updated players. The mk2 decks have features that, for me, aren't worth paying an additional $200 for (I grabbed a pair of 1000s for $99 aa piece and they will arrive tomorrow). I have owned CDJ-850s since late 2009 and it has been time to upgrade for a while.The 1000s are a natural progression in upgrading. i've already played on them that friends own and I love them. As of now, I am encoding my old CDs into mp3s, and in fact still have some of the original folders with the mp3 tracks on them from purchases made years and years ago. I knew one day I'd resort to going all digital, but never succumbed to using a controller or laptop. My circle of DJ friends love spinning on these XDJ-1000s and I appreciate the straight forward info in this review. Cheers!

I'm not too sure but I believe the vinyl speed knob adjust can be made to control either the stop speed or start speed separately in utility mode.

Do you have to prepare tracks in Rekordbox or can xdj1000 load unprepared tracks?

Hello, thank you for your videos I really love them. I have some questions. I struggled to use the beat sync option : do you have to click on « sync » and « master » on one XDJ and click just on « sync » on the other one? Or you just have to click on « sync » and « master » on only one XDJ? And about the cue points, I wonder how do they appear, can you see easily at what time they are in the track? I feel like it is less clear than when you see them on your laptop. And if you put your cue points in the export mode of Recordbox, they will appear on the XDJ?

Question about browsing: I put a lot of my own tags in the comment field, can I use the QWERTY keyboard to search through comment fields? Is there any restrictions on fields for the QWERTY search function? (maybe I'll have to start using RB's tag feature lol)

You can use it to search keywords, so could possibly find tags in the comment field that way (not sure beyond that, though)

download rekordbox and import your tracks there, then export them as a playlist on the USB drive you want to put in the xdj

How do they work with Traktor ?

+I am Dobix Some features won't work (eg reverse mode, detailed waveform, etc) but most will - to work with Traktor you have to use HID mode: update the XDJ-1000 firmware (version 1.04 or higher), update Traktor Pro, plug it into your laptop and make sure in your controller manager XDJ-1000 is selected, on the XDJ you'll need to "push to connect", and choose your deck :)

+Eyeribe Stanley The XDJ 1000 is pre-mapped to Serato DJ when using HID mode - also make sure the CDJs are running the latest firmware. DJ TechTools has a good tutorial on how to do so: djtechtools.com/2015/03/05/using-pioneer-cdjs-in-hid-mode-with-serato-djscratch-live/

If you’re using it as a midi controller with anything other than pioneer rekordbox you wont see the waveform on the screen, also if use unanalyzed tracks from a usb stick the wave form wont show until you play the track from start to finish, the way to get them to show from your usb stick is analyzing and exporting your files through rekordbox.

who buys this for home? cdj 850/1000/2000 are standing in clubs. you will never can get your workflow with this digital player in club until they upgrade their setups :/
