Second, can I get the citation? According to the "Blood, Sweat and Pixels", the development of DA:I was a horror show on many levels. Working with Frostbite was a nightmare, the vision for the game was incoherent, hence, say, hinterlands was a thing and then they decided that it was a failed experiment, sections of the game - like a boat segment - were scrapped and a lot of people were crushed by the brutal crunch to the point of having a breakdown. Doesn't sound like the environment where devs can freely implement their perfect vision. >combat being completely different The problem isn't that it's different. The problem is that it's dogshit. They substituted perfectly capable tactical combat with at the very best mediocre action combat in the Inqusition. I'm not comparing DA:I with DA:O or DA2, because the gameplay is completely different. I compare DA:I with other action RPGs like BotW, Dark Souls or, hell, even Diablo. It's not even remotely close.

So the solution to the StutterStruggle is simply not using UE5? I'm worried about the next Halo being a stutterfest seeing every single UE5 is badly optimized. Not only Halo but the whole industry seems to be moving to this engine. Will Epic ever solve this or are we doomed ? Great work Alex.

Digital Foundry praises Dragon Age: Dreadwolf for its technical quality, which stands out as an exception among recent, often poorly optimized releases. Mortismal Gaming, whose tastes usually align with mine, even nominated it for 'Game of the Year.' From what I've noticed, much of the negative feedback seems to come from people with ideological objections, most of whom dismiss it without having actually played the game. I'm conflicted about this game. I absolutely despise that cartoony art style and I don't like the seemingly light tone they went with in the story either. BUT that said, I do have to give credit where credit is due and it seems like they nailed the PC port + there is also no added BS like the EA App or Denuvo. I can't say I expected that at all from EA of all things.
@Plexy__music28 күн бұрын
@@maharaja101 The art style doesn’t seem very different from Inquisition to me. The biggest change looks to be in the combat system. Inquisition had clunky, MMO-style combat and a strategy mode that wasn’t very effective. This game seems to have made combat more fluid, which is an improvement. Ideally, I’d prefer something more tactical, like Origins. But if it’s a choice between solid real-time combat and something awkward in between, I’d go with the former.
@7PlayingWithFire727 күн бұрын
@@Plexy__music The artstyle isn't that different from Inquisition, its just higher fidelity version of it. They did redesign the demons and the darkspawn, which will bother people. I totally agree that on GPU side the game is well optimized but it's very very CPU intensive. I have a 10900k and i'm cpu limited in many areas and I fall under 50 fps while my gpu has 90% usage. My 10900k is using around 200W most of the time and can go higher, it's usually between 60 and 80% usage. You can't call a game well optimized when a 4 yo 10 core high end cpu can't reach constant 60 fps.

@7PlayingWithFire727 күн бұрын
Is it really that divisive? Don't get me wrong, not enjoying tone is one thing, but that's kind of like saying pixar is bad cause it's not edgy. Doesn't really make it bad or divisive in that sense. As long as the gameplay is good, it runs well, and has a compelling story, it shouldn't bog down a review to a low score. I think it's more to do with the expectations some people have of DA, for some reason expecting it to suddenly revert back to as a sequel to the first game from 15 years ago, instead of the game from 10 years ago... It's kind of weird.
