Do you have to plug apple TV into one of the HDMI 2.1 ports or will the HDMI 2.0 port work just fine? Considering that I have a soundbar and a ps5 which are likely to take up those 2.1 ports.
@504coolАй бұрын
To me, I find that the picture quality on the Apple TV looks better in the 4K120 port, but some may not notice the difference. I had a CX (which has 4 HDMI 2.1 4K120 Ports and noticed something like “off” when I got to Sony. Switching did the trick. I ended up buying a switch that did Dolbyvision, VRR and 4K120 and things have been fine. I have an A95L.
@leighmaddock3323Ай бұрын
I don't have an apple TV but from a quick google search it only supports 4k@60hz, so no, you don't have to use a HDMI 2.1 port. One of the 2.0 ports will be fine. Just make sure you turn on enhanced mode for the input so it can pick up HDR properly.
@yxh9876Ай бұрын
@ I get what you’re saying but Apple TV actually has an hdmi 2.1 port and that confuses me. Also, in recent years Apple TV is supporting VRR, which seems to only work with port 4 of Sony.
@504coolАй бұрын
@ I’d imagine it works on Port 3 too, however if you’ve got some sort of AV System as many do, it’s occupied.
@michaelbeckerman7532Ай бұрын
Right now today, the only things that can really take full advantage of the HDMI 2.1 port's higher bandwidth (up to 48 Gbps) are PS5's, XBOX Series X's and high-end gaming PC's with advanced, premium-level high-performance graphics cards from companies like NVIDIA, Intel and AMD.

Good stuff. But my Sony x90l does not put sdr in parentheses when in the brightness mode. But when in hdr content that is labeled at the top as yours shows. Not a big deal as I assume it’s in sdr if the hdr label is not shown. On not recommending vivid mode I can’t understand why all YT reviewers suggest this. Yes….out of the box vivid is horrible but I have toned it down and use it during the day as my living room is very bright. The picture looks muck cleaner as opposed to using custom during the day. At night I do use Custom or IMAX. But whatever floats your boat.

@ I like it. Extreme off angle viewing is not good tho. But that’s not a big deal to me as I sit pretty much straight on. There is some haloing around white lettering but not uncommon for led TVs. But imagine quality is good along with excellent colors. And when watching sports the image quality has an almost 3d look to it. The depth is really nice. So not a perfect tv but pretty nice for the money.

@bang1102Ай бұрын
How about the setting for Local Dimming? Why do you suggest Brightness to the Max? It is too bright and not comfortable for my eyes. I prefer set the brightness max 35 on my 77A80L & 65X900H. Even with HDR contents for example Dolby Vision it is comfortable with DV Bright on 30 or DV Dark on 35. More than that is too bright and not for cinema standard that movie director intended. I agree with saving energy off and picture setting in Standard or for some movies in Cinema if the content on SDR or HDR10. For your info my room is not dark, it is common family room with side big windows. CMIIW
@Florijin4 күн бұрын
Cant recommended turning Ambient sensor off on the A80L. Yes on first glance the picture is brighter. But sometimes 'not' - beacuse the white balance curve is also adapted. So the picture is sometimes brighter keeping it on. And last but not least = if your movie is dark, turning it off wont help much!

For gaming, for SP games, I turn on motion smoothing. Makes PS5 games look incredibly clear in motion. Sonys implantation is awesome. Also, for gaming, my set is much too dim for HDR, HDR darkens my whole image. I use Extended Dynamic Range at Low to help achieve an HDR styled image using SDR. Works much better than expected! Completely resolved my HDR depression with this set and works for every game, on any generation.

Most consumers are just very poorly informed when it comes to all of this. TV's aren't TV's anymore. They are now very sophisticated LINUX computers with lots of different settings and adjustments. Most won't ever mess with any of those settings at all. They will just take it home, plug it in, do the required initial setup and never even go into any of their menu settings. Many don't even know those menus settings are even there.
@SagaciousFrankАй бұрын

Nobody needs to set up their TV to match what others say! No TV is perfect or better than another. It's your TV; you set it up the way you like. I set up the motion smoothness to the max and watch cable on vivid picture mode using hdmi to cable box and it works well!!
@michaeldietz2648Ай бұрын
Yahhhh don’t use any streaming service to adjust your HDR settings. That stream is coming in severely compressed and not giving you the proper color or brightness accuracy of what your TV supposed to do. Use a 4K Blu-ray from a dedicated 4K Blu-ray player to adjust those settings so it is more accurate.

I like the digital look aka soap opera. It's a digital TV, not analogue. And soap operas don't look like that. I also like vivid or dynamic mode. All the TVs at the store are in vivid or dynamic depending on the brand. But they don't all have the same brightness. I like a bright TV. The picture I see at the store is what I want at home. I don't buy it to dull it down. I set it up, take it off standard, and put it on vivid or dynamic depending on the TV.
