I have one for my z2 play and it's pretty cool! However it's best used in a nearly pitch black room and the resolution is less than 720p, sadly. I still enjoy it and recently watched Deadpool 2 in it using my rooms ceiling as the screen :D

i believe that they need to improve their phone, it lacks some cool features and design and yeah the moto mods might be really cool and good looking but have you seen their prices? its ridiculous, if they really want to sell the phone they should sell the mods at a minimum (like 5$ minimum) profit in order to boost phone sales...its stupid to sell a plastic shell for 20-30$

Was going to get this phone because I had the Z2 Play before it. Ended up with the Note 8. After a year with the Z2 having only paid $408 for it I found you really do get what you pay for. At $899 for my Note 8 I can say I'm glad I made the jump.

Just got it for $199 and free mod on Motorola website, love the look of the phone and it was cheaper than a low end Chinese no name brand or Samsung A 20, happy with it :) ps updated to Google P

Here in France you can find a Moto Z2 Play for around 200€, and I even paid mine 189€ during the sales, so the Z3 is really overpriced in comparison with a few disadvantages like the lack of headphone Jack and the weird emplacement of the fingerprint sensor. I don't think that it's going to have a great success unless the price falls down...

I don't think the fingerprint sensor placement is bad, but maybe that's because I used to have an Xperia Z5. I wish I had the option to lock the screen by holding the fingerprint sensor for a while, like in the previous generation. That would essentially make me ignore the power button on the left, which has been a bit confusing to me at times.

i LOVE Motorola Z phones and love my mods those of you who don't like or want these phones and the awesome mods need to just buy a different phone and stop hating on the Motorola Z and the mods there are lots of other phones for you to choose from I would love to see the Motorola Z5 Force with better CPU and a headphone jack and with stronger glass screen like the original Z Force had the screen breaks way too easy just barely touching it seems to break it Bring us a True Flagship Motorola Z5 Force

Now, with the Z3 on the market at Verizon, this phone really doesn't have much of a home. I think Motorola has made a smart financial decision. They were obligated to release one more phone that was mod compatible. The play has been a big seller, especially for mid-level Verizon customers. So ease out a play with things you know are coming on next years phone. Alternative finger print sensor location, edge to edge display and so on. It fulfills your promise to support mods for 3 years, but you aren't spending a ton on what would most likely be an noncompetitive flagship phone. That leaves capital to invest in next year's flagship where they can make unlimited changes

One-button navigation is nothing new for Motorola. They had it with previous phones like the Moto X4 as well, just with the physical front capacitive home button/fingerprint sensor. Still swipe left to go back and right to access Recent Apps. In terms of one-button navigation, Moto is doing it right while Google is half-assing with how they are designing Android P, while One Plus is trying too hard to be like the iPhone X.

You should have tried to change the volume after you added the mod and place it on the table. My ran into a boot loop all the time, b/c it is literally sitting on the power button, which you accidentally push while changing volume. Stupid design fail, I sent mine back, while being left with my Moto Z Play #smh cR

I didn't love this phone. Very flimsy, struggled to survive any impact. It was fun for a while, good specs and features, but it doesn't stand up, especially if you're active. Went running with it once and it got stuck in a restart loop until it finally died 3 days later. Had it fixed, great. Never took it exercising like that again, too expensive to risk on my budget. I have babied it since, strong case, regularly cleaned, etc. Dropped it the other day, maybe 3 feet if that, and it wouldn't hold charge/start up after. Popped it open and battery connector (which appears to be held on by two dots of soldered metal about the size of a pinhead) has snapped off from the fall (of course it did, how could anything soldered in place by two pinhead dots of metal be expected to weather any sort of life experience?). No other damage, but now I have to pay to get it fixed, because not only am I not a solderer, but that is the only way to connect it! Not even a slot or plug that I can jerryrig :D I think I will be getting a new phone.

I know this is late, I needed an inexpensive device to use on T-Mobile US for a month or so, then giving it to a family member, had $60 BB credit, another $30 as a repeat customer and $50 gift card. So for there about's $185 after sales tax got the phone. I couldn't wait as I need something till my phone gets repaired and as I said, my daughter is getting it when all is said and done. For some odd reason, I like this phone, supports the new TMO LTE bands, and as you said, there's better cameras. But it's pretty damned fast for not being a top spec Snapdragon or Kirin, has a full warranty and the battery lasts. I've found the screen perfectly acceptable, it's no Note 9, but it's not $1k too. Seems fast, has 64gb and room for an SD card. Mine did come with the battery module. Biggest complaints, as said by you is software updates, and trying to find a decent case that fits the battery mod and the phone. Got a screen protector which Amazon got to me in one day. My other choice was their Android One device which was the same price had a SD 625 vs. SD 636 on the play. I did buy it initially but had to return it do to lack of a lot if not most T-Mobiles LTE bands. The phone does seem well made and should work for me.

The phone already should last all day... The mod is about $100 (i think) and lets you go about 42 hours of straight screen on time. When you buy the moto Z3 play, you get your phone for $500 and a free battery mod. You really are stupid.

Crappy speaker, no AUX for head phone, non standard USB charging cable. I really don't like my Z3 at all. Only plus is battery life other than that this phone has nothing to offer other than it's not a $1,000 phone. Worst phone I have ever purchased by far. Do your self a favor and buy something else.

Type c isn't "non-standard." It is a universal charging cable used a lot in newer phones. As for the bad speaker and no aux cable, Motorola provides fixes to that. There is the speaker mod, and the phone comes with a type-c to aux cable port. Motorola has problems with their phones like all others, and they give fixes to them for a reasonable price.
