I have watched countless videos on this pedal over the years, and this is probably the best combination demo/explanation video I've come across. Well done, my friend! And don't feel bad about just using the octave function. That's about all it got used for on my board for 8 years or so.

Great tutorial! I picked one of these up a few years ago used. It's pretty mysterious if you don't have a manual. It does make a fun bunch of sounds but not all are practical. I really only used it for the octave only too haha. I agree, a dry mix would be handy as some of those get pretty wild. I picked up an LS-2 pedal that will let me mix effect / dry tone. I may have to mess with it again.

I have owned this pedal for years. This is by far the best explanation I have ever seen of the controls. Well done! I used to use it in a GB band I was in for pop/dance tunes that used synth bass on the recording. It sounds killer through a house PA! Other bass players would freak out when I put it on.
@DanLeggatt3 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Oh man, through a PA this thing can get earth shattering 😂 Whats your favourite mode?
@thesisters13493 жыл бұрын
@@DanLeggatt I would use the synth mode thats the fuzziest, I don't remember the number, for synth tracks. I will use the clean octave down, that's probably my favorite. Also on my board I have an old DOD Octoplus. I use that for octave only no clean. This pedal is the bomb... I also like the envelope with the sub. It can get nice and gritty with a humbucker bass...

@@DanLeggatt I managed to get ahold of a Digitech bass squeeze for £30 a couple months back but I can't imagine the demand for compressors is gonna increase any time soon- really considering spending the £100 for this pedal, as there's a listing available at the moment

I lucked out, I got mine for free. Someone I knew used to play bass and one of the few pieces he had in his rig was this pedal and he offered it to me so I ofc said yes. Still have it in my setup to this day

I'm not a big pedal guy as a bassist but I have to admit this pedal would really serve me well on certain basslines. At least parts of them. Anyway, excellent review on this Digitech triumph of an effects pedal. On a side note I had to throw in the fact it's a Digitech. Many of the other pedal manufactures don't have nearly as good tracking not quality of sound. For guitar (yes I know that's blasphemy on a bass vid) the Digitech Grunge pedal is probably the best Heavy Metal pedal I've ever played or owned.

Great video man! Between this and mxr envelope filter, which one will you choose?
@DanLeggatt3 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Tough choice, this is far more flexible and has more options. If you just want an envelope filter / auto wah then probably the MXR. If you want a flexible pedal to add a variety of tones then this is a great buy. It does great filter tones too but the MXR does have the edge.

I'v got this pedal. How you solved volume problem? When I use it, sound is much louder then clean bass...
@DanLeggatt Жыл бұрын
For my use, I can live with the volume jump. Best solution would be to run a compressor after it to smooth out the peaks. Or run it in its own loop pedal with an EQ or something after to tailor the volume and frequency response.

@DanLeggatt3 жыл бұрын
How much volume loss? Mine seems fine. Some tones will vary in volume due to the nature of the frequencies in filtering. Nothing major though. Could be an actual problem with your unit.
