FINALLY!! An interview with Isabel Paige diving into her spectacular shots, editing, work ethic and passion for film. Isabel needs more credit for what she does. SO GLAD THIS VIDEO EXISTS. I sometimes see negative comments on Isabel's channel from people who don't get that she's a cinematographer. Once you understand that she's a cinematographer and that it's her hobby, there is really no negative opinion left to be had. She's not "lying" about her life or trying to "trick people" into believing that her life is a fairy tale. She's a cinematographer making art by using her life as the canvas. That's it. Pretty simple stuff. I also once saw a multi-video takedown where some girl was ranting and complaining about how Isabel "lies" about everything in her life and it's like... did you have fun wasting your time on that? I think you lack media literacy if you watch her videos and fail to understand that she's meticulously setting up her shots with an incredible amount of work ethic, planning, and knowledge. She's brilliant.

I also previously passed judgement on how falsely she was portraying her life, especially knowing that 20 feet away from her "off grid cabin" was an on-the-grid house with laundry, electricity, running water, etc. I think younger Isabel definitely contrived and hid the lie, but has since become more transparent while also being a powerhouse artist. It's much more authentic now than it used to be, and the creativity shines through.

Isabel is not just a "KZbinr" she is a visual artist in every way. Props to her for such hard work and excellent content. I give like 10% of that effort in my videos and it just barely scratches the surface of what is possible with visual story telling. So many people probably see her videos and are enraptured in the beauty and idealism of a seemingly perfect life. It’s undeniable that the girl has a great deal of talent in video creation. What surprises me is that most of her audience thinks that all this cinematography is her real life, with those moments of her life casually captured on video. These are stories told very beautifully but, according to her, they are obviously studied in detail and planned; they have nothing to do with real life.

I think it's her critics who seem to be confused. I think her fans know the work that she puts into the videography and scripting.
@merrymeet2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure where you picked up that information. I've been watching Paige for a while now and maybe I missed the video where she says her work is a fantasy. To say critics are confused is a wild assumption. Critics of film and media know exactly how much work is put in which is why we say something when it feels off. I really love her work, the visuals are stunning and it's clear she puts in a lot of effort. No one is doubting that. I think where the general audience and fan base is getting lost is the fact that she doesn't connect with her fans but chooses to address them in the videos directly. As a critic who studied film and media arts I feel like this does a disservice to her work. Addressing the audience directly gives the audience the idea that this is real life and not a fantasy. Just like how I'm talking with you. It's honestly giving Lonelygrl15 if anyone is old enough to remember that lol. But in comparison that channel would actually address the comments staged or otherwise fully engaging in a real conversation giving us more belief in the story that's being presented.

@@merrymeet I have been consuming her content for many years, and what I have said about the fans, I say it because I usually read the comments. and fights are common in the comments section between those who defend that this is his real life and others are only envious, and those who do not believe that it is his life and that he is a less than honest person. This was hands down a pretty great interview. Isabel to me when I first was introduced to her was this youtube monolith and aesthetic poster girl for cottagcore and offgriding that it became to hard to see the person behind the fairytale and not hold her to the standards we lump influencers in. Sometimes in the world of youtube and social media we forget that not everyone intended to commercialize their talents with social media but broaden their work as creatives or hobboyist who love what they do. Isabel the artist and creator is also a magical experince if not more humanizing of the fairytale character she's created. Understanding the work and details that go into such cinematically composed videos and seeing how hard she works for me fills the videography with even more meaning . What to most would be brag worthy, kiss the rings type content, shes so determined to keep improving and perfecting and I think thats an a trait to appreciate but I hope with this interview you were able to remind her of how much work and effort she pours into herself everyday. Interviewer did very well with the technical questions and asking how a lot of shots in various situations were executed and that was really helpful to understand Isabels range as a begginer, especially enjoyed the pop up glossary.

This interview is finally a true accounting of the channel and her work. It's the most honest she's been about the reality that these are meticulously (beautifully, wonderfully) planned stories, and not slices of life she just happened to capture. So many of her viewers are under the illusion that this is her real life, and the camera just 'happens' to be there, or that she is just spontaneously dancing through flower fields with perfect composition. What's sad is that she is an outrageously talented cinematographer, yet so many of her viewers bemoan the 'ordinariness' of their lives in comparison. I'm baffled that anyone can think this is a documentary of spontaneous moments, but so many people do. I hope more of them see this video and come away with a better appreciation for her talent, and a better appreciation for their own lives instead of comparing them to 'a larger than life fairytale.'

These are real life stories. And she is using her feelings to generate a story every week based on real life. She uses her skills as a cinematographer as a medium to communicate. @CortneyBerry2 ай бұрын
@@danherrick5785 The final product, the actual video itself, is not a real life story. It's a beautiful, compelling, wonderfully filmed composite sketch of a collection of experiences that might sometimes be based on 'real life' , but are also interpretations, created/curated images, and meticulously planned and rehearsed scenes that capture certain ideas. It's not a documentary, it's not off the cuff, and the final product, the video itself, which is what I was speaking to, is certainly not her real life. I don't know how to say it more clearly.

Isabel is an exceptional talent. She is very self-deprecating but she is doing what I sometimes wondered if someone else was doing, which is her attention to detail, and her shooting. Many have wondered and asked aloud about who is helping her - and with this interview it is well-confirmed that she does have help from family, her partner (who is also a talent in several ways media-wise) and others. While the help is I'm sure absolutely appreciated, she is perfectly capable of doing it herself, without anyone's help or permission. Any of us in creative work can feel like everyone else has it figured out but us. Imposter syndrome is a very real thing. But Isabel is the real deal, and I'm glad to see her talking about her craft openly. I had asked many times on YT for her to do a BTS on her films. This is a very nice BTS look at her process. Bravo, Isabel, and thanks Jack for helping talk through it all with her. Bravo!

She is entirely a different person in this interview. It’s so odd to me. I like seeing her behind the scenes. I respect her talent and planning. Before seeing this, I had some issues with her videos as I thought it was perfectionism and unrealistic portrayal for an ego need. But I realize now it’s just art.

I felt like I was watching a different person also! Not in a bad way…she just seems different. Even looks a bit different!

Wow I never realized the extent she went through to make these videos for us. I just take for granted how beautiful they are and never realized the love she put behind it. Also, she is freakin adorable can we all agree? Lol so sweet

I have been waiting for this interview to come out. She did a whole video about coming to do it which was totally wonderful. She is amazing at all that she does. I have been following her since she started her channel and can never get enough. I can tell how thoughtful every shot is and love her confessions. She's wise beyond her years. Please have her make a music video for you guys! That would be incredible. Thank you for having her on your show. Swoon.

I've always loved her videos! BUT after this interview, WOW!! I have an even deeper appreciation for her work! That life, that girl in those stories she creates, is the girl that lives inside me as well. What a talented human. Thank you for this interview 💖

This was great. I've been watching Isabel's videos for a few years and have definitely seen the progression. As a creative it was great to hear a discussion on her techniques and work ethic, many people just do not understand what goes into creating something engaging and it's really helped me appreciate how much she cares about her output. One of the things that I think she's hard on herself for is risking being a bit samey or not dynamic enough content wise but actually I think the peaceful slow moving nature life is one of the greatest strengths. I hope that she gets the chance to be involved in a longer form film. Also I appreciated the focus on how quality audio is one of the things that can really elevate video media. People will easily forgive raw shaky camera work as a possible stylistic choice - but bad audio always reveals an amateur approach.

Thank you for this! Isabel's one of my favorite creators ever and to hear her actual process and the technical side of things just tripled my respect for her. I really really hope she goes down the filmmaker/cinematographer route off youtube and finds the accolades she deserves. I also hope she learns to see the beauty she's constantly creating bc we're always in awe. Her vibes off camera are also ever so slightly different and its so charming?? idk how/why but she seems so grounded and serious and its nice to see. i hope she does more interviews about all the work she puts into her work.

So grateful this video showed up in my feed! I have been an avid fan of Isabel for years now. I get so lost in her enchanting stories that I never stop to access how she got the shot, much less how complex is her process. I now have a whole new appreciation for her cinematography. Thank you so much for featuring her as your guest!

It's really great, that the interview shines some light on the production side of things. Cause most people in the comments really thinks, the videos show her real life. She does really great filming and everything, but it's planned out for the content, which is totally fine. But people really do believe, it is real. If you consume it, knowing, how much work and thoughts go in the videos, you can realise, that a normal person can't have this kinda life, that she shows on camera.

She has worked hard to give people the illusion that it is real..until more recently. This interview is the most honest and authentic have ever seen her. She should show more on her channel like she is here. let people see how she produces the short films that she makes..like behind the scenes of what goes into it all…much better than watching her dance and spin around and yelling at the mountains..lol

I got soo amazed by seeing Isabel offscreen apart from her stories, that is soo crazy her work ethic is soo strong, she definitely is inspiring me a lot I used to watch her videos for cinematography and now boom this, apart from this I feel soo good and jealous at the same time as her parents are soo supportive to what she likes and want to pursue, as comparatively to a person who is living abroad alone without family support, making own choices feels hard sometimes, but after watching Isabel offscreen apart from her stories is definitely motivating me and I'm gonna open my old stories and start editing those ASAP, I know she might not read the comments but I wanna say, Isabel you are amazing in person cause I have been watching you stories and getting inspired but watching this and getting to know backstory of everything make me more happy now.

This interview makes me think so much more about Isabel, she’s a genius! (Crazy to think she doesn’t even see it) she portrays herself as really innocent but clearly she’s got a very complex mind. Wow I’m so impressed! Wish you guys would have talked about her insane river polar plunges too! She’s an inspiring woman and she looked absolutely beautiful in this interview. Totally loved the fascination and awe you gave her through out too amazing interview!!

I've watched Isabel for years now and have always appreciated her cinematic style and wondered what might go into all the beautiful and aesthetically pleasing images. Suffice it to say A LOT goes into it and it's far more controlled and considered than I ever imagined. Thank you so much for interviewing her. I do believe this soul does nothing unless she does it well or, rather, she will never NOT try something even if the initial outcome isn't perfect...but she invariably gets there in the end. She's truly admirable.

The creative process in her head is incredible and so admirable. The fact that she dives in to bring her audience into the experiences of her environment separates her from the rest, by far.
