Casey, I love that you hate shaky camera movement. I can’t watch Jason Bourne movies because of this. Appreciate the extra effort to properly frame and setup a shot. The only exception is for the mockumentary genre or like what someone else mentioned in the comments, Birdman. Sometimes a handheld camera shot can create a sense of uneasiness, that you want the viewer to experience.

She didn’t hike up a mountain, it was a hill, quit glazing her so hard. Next thing, she’ll walk down a couple of blocks to get a shot and you’ll be like “she walked across the United States.”

This is great, I love hearing these ideas on how great story tellers think and then noticing them myself in other films.

I like your deep dive, and while the original documentary certainly is nicely made, to me it seems repetitive of what we see all over KZbin and the Internet. Basically a well-made mixture of 3 second bits with well edited music and good storytelling that is probably inspired by the Eames’ and all the other people who have been inspired be the Eames’. But personally I am starving to see new formats that don’t build on what is currently trendy. I am starving to see an author dare to make a scene longer than three seconds. Have confidence in the audience. And maybe conversional doesn’t have to mean dumbed down and simplified grammar. Again trust the audience to have an intellect that goes beyond high school level.
