This 10 minutes short film was part of the Dutch series KORT 2005!
Just before a truck hits a ten-year-old boy everything comes to a standstill. A man who is witnessing the accident is the only one who can move in the frozen world and he discovers a way to save the life of the child. But in his attempt to alter the boy's fate he has to face a cruel dilemma...
This short film is part of the Dutch television program 'Kort!'. Every year 10 directors/writers have the possibility to make a short film.

Hello, I'd like to know... Does the man decide to kill himself? Is the picture withe flowers around by the column that of the main character or the truck driver? Some of my students in class are saying that it was accidentally that the truck hit him, that he just wanted to drive the truck towards the columns, but not kill himself.

The students are right... And the picture by the column is from the truck driver.

Thanks for your answer. So that means that the truck driver also dies, and the main character only wanted the truck driver to die, not himself? I've just been using this video for my English classes in Colombia to talk about what we would do in certain situations. I think it's great, people love it. Do you have any other Short films I could watch?

you can also use this in philosophy to explore the concept of the view from nowhere. The idea that the distinction between objectivity and subjectivity is not as clear as most philosophers claim. in other words all this abstraction is not entirely possible. one cannot step outside of one's own mind

Juan Martínez I think he forgot that he stands there, when the time is over. Both died. I can recommend the german shortfilm, just search for „SommerSonntag“. The Title is german and it means „Summer Sunday“, the whole Video is like this one without any words spoken.

my teacher said i was wrong when i said that he didnt want to kill himself, she says he did it on purpose...
